The hotel

Having recently been the proud recipient of a ‘Best Renovations’ award, the Intercontinental Montréal offers luxury accommodation in one of the city’s most sought after locations. Combining the exclusivity of a boutique hotel with top-tier service, guests are most certainly in for a treat when staying here, relaxing in rooms that are sumptuously furnished with plenty of space to stretch out in. On the 10th floor is the fitness centre with state-of-the-art equipment and aerobic classes. Alternatively, head to the indoor pool to swim a few laps or chill out in the spa tub. Osco! means ‘bravo!’, a sentiment you’ll heartily agree with at the Intercontinental’s signature restaurant, a Province-inspired brasserie with an ever-changing menu. There’s also the Sarah B Bar, named after Sarah Bernhardt, the queen of the French Tragedy, whose spirit is said to wander the vaults of the hotel — so keep your eyes peeled! At ‘green hour’, Absinthe is served. Known as the ‘green fairy’ it was said to enhance the creative energies of the great 19th century European writers and artists, including Sarah Bernhardt, but beware, at 55–75% proof, it’s not a tipple for the faint hearted!

Stayed here for a few nights as family getaway and was looking forward to IHG stay.. Overall, I was disappointed, but I can't quite tell whether this experience is isolated or broad. There are definitely good things about this hotel I loved but too many things rubbed me off wrong way. good- the location, building, spacious room bad- location (this is odd but the hotel is in the center of to the city but not near places we spent most time on- e.g mile end, shopping area, old montreal) elevator- this is silly but the elevator supposedly claims to be activated by room key but it does not. almost as if it's broken or maybe it was decoy shower/bathtub- interesting to see standard bathtub without hand shower and the shower room itself is quite inconvenient - the shower head is fixed with little wiggle room. the combination of both was that it was nightmare to shower a toddler interior- reminds me of old intercontinental interior which is fine but it was nothing like the example picture in the hotel website (certainly bathroom was not natural light). was it partially renovated maybe? parking lot- it's fine to have parking garage separately operated from the hotel or that the hotel doesn't offer any special pricing for parking (though it would've been nice) but the connectivity to the garage was weird- you have to walk across bridge, take the elevator to the p1, walk across 2nd elevator, take it to hotel designated garage floor swimming pool- my daughter and I were turned down from entering the pool on the last day because the lady at the desk said she's on break (it's unclear what role she had that requires pool shutdown since the warning at the pool clearly said no life guard. i Room "upgrade"- I'm certainly not the type to expect more than what my loyalty status allows me to request, but it came to me as surprise that the room they upgraded me to Club Room from premium high floor room did not allow me to enter club- without it, I think it's effectively downgrade from the room I reserved: something I was too tired to argue about and also felt like small thing. Suffice to say, given the quality of hotels in Montreal at this price point, I'd sample at different hotel and it's hard for me to recommend this hotel to others even if some of the problems seem one off in nature. Great customer service from check in to check out. This hotel has it all: great service, up to date rooms, corner rooms with a 270 degree view of the river and a good restaurant. Additionally, it is connected to an over the top (price wise) shopping mall, great for killing time. The location is a 15 minute walk to the riverfront. Dozens of nearby… Read more

Only down grade was that the shower was a little small for honeymooners to share. Read less

Lovely room, very comfortable. Huge bathroom, maybe a bit outdated. Well situated hotel, 15 minutes walk to Montreal old town, same time to the shopping on St Catherine’s. Concierge service brilliant, so helpful and informative. However, It just lacked any special touches to make this a real luxury hotel (we didn’t eat in the hotel or use the bar,… Read more

Generous Platinum room upgrade, beautiful park views, excellent location walkable to Old Montreal, friendly staff, brisk elevators, comfortable stay. Our only issue was the shower. A windowless stall only big enough for one person, with a dead lightbulb. 9.5/10 would stay again.

Our stay at the hotel was great. The decor, lobby ambiance, saltwater pool, and incredible location made it, but the BEST part was the customer service from Michael A. Michael Anderson went above and beyond from check-in to check-out. He was all smiles and patience as we asked all our questions about tourist attractions, restaurant recommendations, room accommodations, and more. My daughter is also learning French and he happily helped her practice in conversation. We’ve never felt more comfortable approaching hotel staff with our needs and questions. We really appreciated Michael’s exceptional customer service during our stay. We’ll definitely be back. If you see this, thanks Michael! Read less
