InterContinental Montreal

Montreal, Canada

The hotel

Having recently been the proud recipient of a ‘Best Renovations’ award, the Intercontinental Montréal offers luxury accommodation in one of the city’s most sought after locations. Combining the exclusivity of a boutique hotel with top-tier service, guests are most certainly in for a treat when staying here, relaxing in rooms that are sumptuously furnished with plenty of space to stretch out in. On the 10th floor is the fitness centre with state-of-the-art equipment and aerobic classes. Alternatively, head to the indoor pool to swim a few laps or chill out in the spa tub. Osco! means ‘bravo!’, a sentiment you’ll heartily agree with at the Intercontinental’s signature restaurant, a Province-inspired brasserie with an ever-changing menu. There’s also the Sarah B Bar, named after Sarah Bernhardt, the queen of the French Tragedy, whose spirit is said to wander the vaults of the hotel — so keep your eyes peeled! At ‘green hour’, Absinthe is served. Known as the ‘green fairy’ it was said to enhance the creative energies of the great 19th century European writers and artists, including Sarah Bernhardt, but beware, at 55–75% proof, it’s not a tipple for the faint hearted!

Lovely room (though ours had no view). Large and fully appointed: Lush towels, every amenity. Available parking is down 9-12 floors below ground and CAD 25 per 24 hrs. But you can just leave your car there and do the old city by foot; everything is convenient. The restaurant was expensive, so we ate elsewhere.

We stayed for 6 nights and enjoyed the hospitality provided by the staff. I would definitely recommend getting an Intercontinental Club room as the amenities are well worth the additional cost. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed even though I did find the burgundy design a bit overwhelming. A lovely stay.

I took a 11pm flight (US time) from Las Vegas and arrived at 7am in Montreal via a 5 hours flight. I got to the hotel at 8am to drop my luggages. As i know it is too early to check-in, i requested for the hotel staff to see if they can try to arrange for the room to be ready for 1-2pm if possible as I had not had much sleep. I went out for breakfast and went around Montreal town and had lunch before getting back to the IHG Montreal at 3pm as I was too tired to continue anywhere. Imagine my disappointment when the reception told me that the room is not ready yet, and that check-in time is 4pm. As a seasoned traveller and long time IHG supporter, I was very very disappointed that the hotel staff was not pro-active in trying to turn-around a room early to try to accommodate. check out time is usually 12/1pm, is it a lot to ask for for the housekeeping to try to tidy up 1 room within 1-2 hours so that a tired guest can have some rest? Perhaps the management need to relook at the housekeeping. On one of the days, I went out for a whole day of meeting and got back to the room at 4pm to find that the room has yet to be serviced. Aside from this 2 incidents, the rest of the stay was great. The room was very comfortable and centrally located with a nice row of shops, with a starbuck café and a very nice bagel shop adjoining at the ground floor. I will definitely stay at the IHG Montreal again, but hopefully the next time the check-in experience can be much nicer . Read less
