I stayed at this property from Aug 1 to 4 for a family getaway & I was very impressed. I was assigned room 2705 & 2710 we both had a great view of downtown Montreal. The location cannot be beat as St Catherine's street was only minutes away & literally a 3 minute walk to the Bell Centre. This hotel was so central to everything as shopping & restaurants were a short walk away. The room was a decent size for a downtown property, contained two firm double beds, but what I was really surprised with was the amazing bathroom. The standup shower had 3 shower settings: rainfall, body spray or if you prefer water gently cascading down on you they had a setting for that too. The water pressure was amazing as well, pretty strong & no complaints. The room also had a 55 inch Samsung flat screen TV. In the hallway adjacent to the bathroom there was ample storage & space for clothes, a Nespresso unit, a safe for valuables & a bar fridge. This is something that cannot be understaded as I'm happy the Marriott provided all these amenities in anticipation of their guest's basic needs. Housekeeping services was on a request basis due to COVID as we had to provide 24 hour notice if we wanted the room cleaned but it was not an issue. The staff was generally professional & friendly from check in & they gladly provided us when anything we required, such as replacing the feather pillows with foam or extra towels. Last thing I want to mention was the breakfast at the restaurant lobby. The French toast was a must try, a pricey indulgence. If you do partake in breakfast, there are considerably cheaper food options just a few blocks from the hotel. Overall, really satisfying stay & as a Silver Elite Marriott member I would definitely stay there again. Read less

Whatever you read from 2020 and earlier you must ignore. This iconic Montreal hotel has been thoroughly renovated and updated during the COVID 19 pandemic! I stayed in a marvellous room, facing Northeast, with a spectacular view of the city through those uniquely shaped large windows. It had a brand new King size bed, all the electrical outlets and USB ports I could want for all my devices, as well as a desk area and a lounging settee too. All the furniture was new and updated. The bathroom and shower also had a full makeover. The only reason for not going five stars on this review was because a couple of small details have not been finished. For example, in the main lobby, there was some lighting or something yet to be installed above the elevator doors. I bet in another month or two all these other small details will be finished up. A pandemic renovation resulted in true modern luxury in the heart of Montreal. To compliment this all the staff were incredibly customer service oriented. The rooms are bright an airy with all the amenities you could want (including toilets with all the automated bells and whistles).

Stay: 2020-08-28 to 2020-08-29 Room 1814 I have always been feeling acknowledged as a Marriott Platinum member and a loyal customer since I joined Marriott until my recently stay in this hotel. I have noticed the following details from its computer generated confirmation after I made my reservation through the company website: I could cancel my reservation for no charge two days before arrival I would have to pay On-site parking, fee: 12 CAD hourly, 28 CAD daily I was not notified the hotel was undergoing a complete renovation. Two days before my arrival, Robin Fromont, Front Office Supervisor, sent me a greeting email. Not until then I have noticed that the hotel is going through a complete transformation and community improvements are underway, and the parking fee would be 32 CAD daily. If I knew the hotel is going through renovation, I would not have booked the hotel. But It was already too late to cancel it. When I arrived the lobby, only a section was open for check-in (there were floor to ceiling dividers so I could not see how big the lobby was originally) and there was only one lady at the front desk. She seemed busy enough to answer phone calls and check in with us. We had to roll our luggage up to the room ourselves. She welcomed me and my husband and explained that the member's lounge was not open during renovation but willing to offer me 750 points. I paid the unlimited in and out 32 CAD parking. As a Platinum member, I am entitled to one free breakfast plus one guest. As the restaurant was closed, she offered me an a la carte menu and said "You can order whatever you want from the menu." Our room was just renovated as we could still smell the paint. They have done a very good job on the cleanliness in the room especially during this pandemic. The next morning we called and ordered four items from the menu. As we rolled our luggage again to check out, our unlimited in and out parking ticket didn't work. My husband parked the car side way and went back to the front desk. A French speaking staff came out and he spent 10 minutes talking to someone from his walkie-talkie. We never knew what happened because of the language barrier but the gate was finally opened. A few hours later I was checking on the email invoice, there was a charge of 41.40 CAD on top of the 32 CAD parking charge. I called and spoke with Amy from Room Division. She said she would only honor two items from the breakfast menu but not four even I was told to "order whatever I want" at the time I checked in. She admitted It was a huge misunderstanding but she would not take the charge away. We are very disappointed not only because we were not notified of the renovation but also the breakfast arrangements. I booked this hotel as a Platinum member, however, the lounge and the breakfast privileges were not enjoyed. I could have spent 41.40 CAD on a nice local restaurant instead. I could have stayed in Courtyard Montreal Downtown just down the street if I don't want lounge nor breakfast. I understand hotel business is struggling to survive during the pandemic. However, I am frustrated the way I was treated as a Platinum member. Well, one less loyalty doesn't harm the Marriott family, does it? Read less
