The hotel looks tired and needs some major TLC. The first room we were given had burnt out lights and the toilet did not work.... not sure who is maintaining it. The room price was steep, the room was not large, the bed average.. definitely not a great value. The staff was friendly. The other disappointment was the breakfast in the executive lounge... did not do justice to Montreal food reputation, only salvation were the Montreal bagels. Could have stay at the cheaper chain and have a better breakfast. Read less

Hotel is centrally located with direct access to the underground. It has a nice bar with great choice of local beers and friendly bartenders. Our room was not on a renovated floor, which is one thing - naturally furniture was worn. However, room had an awful smell with a hint of smoke and found the previous guest's underwear on the floor. When reporting we were told there is no other room and we should just put the clothes out of the room. Anyway, the bed was comfortable and just hoped that at least the bed linen was changed after the previous guest. Read less

Ask for a room at the front of the hotel and you will have an unequaled view of Montreal through an arched window worth the price of the hotel. The beds were great: mattresses just the right firmness, comforters just the right weight (I hate it when I'm too hot at night when the comforters are too thick), and the pillows were not too puffy nor too… Read more

The beds were great: mattresses just the right firmness, comforters just the right weight (I hate it when I'm too hot at night when the comforters are too thick), and the pillows were not too puffy nor too flat. The waiters working breakfast were courteous and even waived the extra price of the lattes we had ordered. I consider this one of the better high end hotels. I would have enjoyed it even more had they provided bathrobes and and a shower cap, but these are minor issues considering how much I enjoyed the rest of the place. Read less

We didn't know what to expect when we booked and were very pleasantly surprised. Had a room on the 27th floor and the view was lovely. The room itself was very good from the beds to the shower (and we travel a lot). Also liked where the hotel was located - easy access to the Gray Line, Metro, and many decent restaurants. Would stay there again.

Just returning from a great trip to Montreal, but no thanks to the Marriott. This hotel is in serious need of a facelift. The good news is that they're getting one, the bad news is that some of you will suffer in the older rooms. As a lifetime titanium member that booked well in advance, you think they would like to please me for my loyalty? Not a chance, even after asking at check-in (and the next day) for a different room. Why, you ask? Fully booked. Alas, I never saw more than 20 people in the hotel all weekend. I'm sure there were more, but the point is that it was not at capacity by any measure. Could I use my upgrade certificates? No. As insinuated in a previous review, I think all they appreciate is cash upon arrival for a possible upgrade. Also, conceriege level is closed on weekends. To make up for it, they give you a voucher for either 2 free continental breakfasts, or $11 for each person in your room (a discount from the normally $22 price of the breakfast). My son and I investigated on the first morning and were promptly imformed that we could only have cold items (cereal, juice, bread). Definitely not worth anyone's time or money. When the conceirge lounge was open on Sunday afternoon, it would only accomodate 2 of the 4 people in our room. The other 2 had to pay $20. For what you might ask? Over-cooked spanokopitka and a cheese plate. We were also paying for our own adult beverages mind you so Marriott was making money either way from us in their 'conceierge' lounge. Why so cheap Marriott? And why no loyalty to your most valued members? God help those who do not present with any status or membership. Be warned and perhaps look at other Marriott properties if you must stay within the brand. Read less
