This was my second stay at the Montreal Marriott Chateau Champlain in the last two years. This stay was for only one night July 8th. Here are the good and not so good points of the hotel The good: - Great location. Easy walk or quick UBER ride to great areas of town. - Very friendly valets, bell men and front desk. - The concierge desk even remembered my son from our last stay. - Great concierge lounge (CL) on the 35th floor with fantastic views of Montreal. - CL had great snacks and breakfast. - Was given one of the brand new remodeled rooms on the 13th floor. - New walk in showers are great. At least four different shower jet choices. - The kept the small changing area outside the bathroom, which i like. Closet, fridge, coffee and bench to sit on all were there. - Valet parking was very fast to get our car. - 36 floors and elevators were very fast. - Great grocery store and lots of place to eat and shop nearby. - Very easy to get to the airport by car or bus or taxi from the hotel. - Even though we were checking out at 2 PM. When we got back to the room around 1 PM to finish packing the room was cleaned. Don't know if this was a mistake, but I like it. Not so good: - New room had a heavy construction smell. Found some saw dust on the walls. - Our room's A/C did not work or just barely worked. The room never got below 73 degrees and we had it set at 65 with the fan on high. The manager gave us points for this. - Our room did not have a great view. As a Marriott Titanium Elite, I was hoping for Mt. Royal view. We got the two rooms facing Mt. Royal two years ago when we were there for five days. - Lots of construction noise in the afternoon as we were getting ready to leave for the airport. Remodeling will be done in 2020 I was told. - Real lack of art work in the new rooms. Kind of wanted a Montreal feel to the room, but it was the standard nice Marriott room. - No robes or slippers or free water bottles in the room. No turn down service (I wanted the chocolate). - No liquid hand soap in the silver tube in the bathroom like most Marriott's have. Had to use one bar of soap at the sink and in the shower. - Towel were kind of rough and worn. - I heard there will not be a pool anymore after the construction is done. If my kids were still little this would be important to know. I would stay there again. Read less

Impressive! My wife, two kids, and myself enjoyed a week in Montreal enjoying the jazz festival, Mount Royal, and Old Montreal as well as the Observatory Ferris Wheel, Labyrinth, ZIP Line on the Old Port. This was the third consecutive year we stayed at the Chateau Champlain and was the best one yet. The rooms are being renovated and are magnificent. In addition to being centrally located and so close to the Metro, the rooms are quiet and spacious and the views are amazing. As usual, the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly and the breakfast and service at the restaurant were terrific. The next time we visit Montreal we will certainly plan on staying at the Chateau Champlain. Read less

The hotel has a great location. Direct access to metro stop (literally under the hotel) and a couple of blocks from restaurants and shops. Rooms were clean and service was excellent. Try to get a room on higher floors facing the downtown, you'll be treated with excellent views of the city.

We are currently staying at this hotel for 11 days and are Platinum Elite for Life Marriott Members. It was quite confusing (due to the renovations) when we asked for an upgrade. Our view is so so. We requested a west facing view as this is the beautiful view from the concierge lounge. We were told that there are only two floors that have the west view (but it is a 36 story building??). And that those two floors were already reserved for the entire time we will be at the hotel. We are in a renovated room. It could use some pictures (but other than that it is nice). My son brought his bathing suit only to find out there is no pool available due to the renovation. One staff member wasn't sure when the pool would be ready. Another said there is no plan for a pool. We asked about pool privileges at another Marriott but were told that was not an option. Usually if Marriott is having short-falls for any reason they present you with something to make it worthwhile. The front staff person that helped us with our "upgrade" (if you call it that) was VERY friendly and patient as I tried to understand how the renovation was impacting the room choice. The staff are friendly there is just no option to accommodate our requests here. We are very pleased with the ease to get to the subway and the walkability. We depart July 18th. Read less

We chose this hotel because of the location. We were surprised that there were no bellmen on duty when we arrived. The valet parking man helped us get our luggage into the hotel. Our room was comfortable but the bed did not seem to be up to Marriott standards. Neither the mattress nor the pillows seemed to be the usual Marriott comfortable items. We were very pleased with the assistance of Marie-Eve, the concierge who helped us with our tour arrangements. The hotel restaurant served delicious food. We chose a light dinner there our first night and the breakfast buffet one morning. Room service was equally delicious. We had breakfast brought to us twice and dinner (the beef burger) once. The meals came on time. We had a fabulous view! Read less
