Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great view, ordinary hotel

If it weren’t for the view, this hotel would be rated even lower. Of course, it’s a tourist hotel and exists for no other reason. Those familiar with business travel or luxury hotels will not be impressed. All was adequate, but except for the view, most ordinary.

Take away the commanding view – for which you pay a premium – and what’s left is, for the most part, a very ordinary three-star hotel. A comfortable sleep and a good supply of hot water are the prime expectations of a hotel stay. We missed with one of those and the other was unreliable which, added to a few other shortcomings, defiled what should be a very good hotel. The good: booking, finding the place and check-in were painless. Our king-bed, falls-view junior suite (1021) was clean, quiet, extravagantly spacious and reasonably comfortable. Most things expected were there and some of them worked as expected – see below for what didn’t. The king bed ensemble was comfortable, the linens crisp and clean and there were enough pillows for each of us to find a favourite. The bathroom is spacious and well appointed. The bath linens were clean, plush and plentiful. The suite décor and furnishings are chain hotel vanilla but that’s not what you’ll notice because the view over the falls is peerless, and the sweeping glass wall of the living area was spotlessly clean. The included Wifi connected easily and worked well on all our devices. We took dinner in the hotel’s Milestones restaurant which offers quality fare at reasonable prices. Breakfast is available at the same restaurant which offers meals to order or a buffet that improves modestly on 3-star average. The not so good: parking in an uncovered carpark costs $35/day to DIY or $45 for valet service which may be in the more limited covered car park. One light in the bathroom – which relies entirely upon artificial light – was not working. The bad: the day of our stay was unseasonally warm yet the suite air-conditioning was not working except to circulate the already muggy air. The winter weight duvet cover on the bed might have been OK if the AC had been working but was decidedly uncomfortable in the circumstances. In the morning we checked out earlier than we would have preferred to escape the developing sauna which the morning sun was working on turning the suite into. The water pressure – particularly from the overhead shower outlet – was anaemic and the temperature fluctuated randomly from barely warm to acceptable. Read less

( towels, toilet paper, etc) my husband finally found a housekeeping cart in the hall and grabbed some fresh towels on Saturday evening. We have never had this experience. We didn’t expect the room to be cleaned, but the necessary towels and toilet paper replenished as requested was expected. We’re very confused by this lack of service from a Marriott property. We are long time Bonvoy members. Read less

I stayed 1 night in this hotel on 26th April 2022. I had booked superior falls view on high floors, and our room was excellent, can not have better view of fall. The location of hotel was also perfect. it was close to Casino, many restaurant and markets. There was an elevator outside hotel that by paying CAD3 per person you can reach fall easily, or if you wanted to walk there was 15-20 min walk from hotel to Fall. There was no minibar in room, but 2 bottle of water was free put on the table. Pay attention that hotel did not accept cash. Breakfast was buffet and English breakfast. There was also beautiful view of Fall from restaurant. If I come back I will stay in this hotel again for sure. Read less

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel over a weekend in April. Stayed in a King Superior View room on the 21st floor, and the views couldn't be beat. Room service was quick and efficient, the onsite hotel had amazing fare for both dinner and the buffet breakfast. Well done! Where the positive ends is in trying to deal with this hotel to get a detailed receipt, and to have my stays added to my Bonvoy account. I have been going through this process for two weeks now, and have received nothing but the runaround from the hotel staff. Promises made, but not kept. This is unacceptable from a supposed 5 star hotel that is expected to value their customers. Read less
