Fairmont Royal York

Toronto, Canada

The hotel

One of Toronto’s landmark hotels, Fairmont Royal York was built by Canadian Pacific Railway in 1929 and has since welcomed dignitaries and royalty, including Queen Elizabeth II. Once the tallest building in the British Empire, the hotel is housed in a distinctive chateau-style high-rise building and offers a wealth of amenities to keep you busy in-between sightseeing. The fitness centre is almost a world of its own with lap pool, children’s wading pool, steam rooms, saunas and a state-of-the-art gym. Two levels of shops are enough to satisfy the most ardent of shoppers with more shops located directly underneath the hotel in the PATH complex. Several exceptional restaurants cater to every kind of culinary desire. For mouth-watering steaks, look no further than Benihana Japanese Steakhouse and for the best martinis in town, head to the Library Bar with its rich furnishings and elegant atmosphere. Not to be missed is the afternoon tea and Rooftop Garden Tour, held every Saturday and Sunday.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at the Royal York. The staff are polite and incredibly helpful, the rooms are well appointed & very clean. The location is excellent, we could walk to venues such as the aquarium & markets.

I stayed here on business for 2 nights. The location of the hotel was very convenient, the staff was very accommodating and the hotel itself is beautiful. I had dinner in the bar and the food was delicious. There was also live entertainment which made it more enjoyable. Would definitely stay here next time I visit Toronto.

Last minute stay at the Fairmont and so glad I chose this hotel. The staff lovely from the minute I walked in the door. They followed up every day to see how my stay was going. The renovations are stunning. The rooms are modern, clean and large. Only complaint was that they were a bit noisy, but I chalk that up to booking the day before and hotel being sold out. I recommend Fairmont to anyone coming to Toronto and looking to stay downtown. Read less

The Fairmon Royal York exceeded all of my "big birthday" expectations! From the minute we pulled in and were greeted by our "favorite valet Mac" Check in was a breeze, and we had a view of the CN Tower. Dan the bell man was most helpful, and always had good suggestions for us. The area of this property can't be beat, it's close to everything.… Read more
The Fairmon Royal York exceeded all of my "big birthday" expectations! From the minute we pulled in and were greeted by our "favorite valet Mac" Check in was a breeze, and we had a view of the CN Tower. Dan the bell man was most helpful, and always had good suggestions for us. The area of this property can't be beat, it's close to everything. Rooms are very comfortable although the bathrooms are TINY! Mac also told us about the KISS Concert in town, and we quickly got tickets. When returning to our room he even had some birthday treats delivered to our room with a nice card!! The Fairmont is very fortunate to have these young men who pay so much attention to detail!! We Will be returning in November and will certainly stay here if at all possible!! Read less
