The hotel

One of Toronto’s landmark hotels, Fairmont Royal York was built by Canadian Pacific Railway in 1929 and has since welcomed dignitaries and royalty, including Queen Elizabeth II. Once the tallest building in the British Empire, the hotel is housed in a distinctive chateau-style high-rise building and offers a wealth of amenities to keep you busy in-between sightseeing. The fitness centre is almost a world of its own with lap pool, children’s wading pool, steam rooms, saunas and a state-of-the-art gym. Two levels of shops are enough to satisfy the most ardent of shoppers with more shops located directly underneath the hotel in the PATH complex. Several exceptional restaurants cater to every kind of culinary desire. For mouth-watering steaks, look no further than Benihana Japanese Steakhouse and for the best martinis in town, head to the Library Bar with its rich furnishings and elegant atmosphere. Not to be missed is the afternoon tea and Rooftop Garden Tour, held every Saturday and Sunday.

Great location right downtown Toronto. Right across the st from Inion station and waking distance to ACC, Roger’s Centre, theatres and restaurants. Great price for value for amenities such as pool, spa and gym. Staff is always friendly and helpful!

Great overall experience - the Gold King Suite blew away my expectations. The Gold Lounge is luxurious and quiet. The Clockwork bar had great food and drinks. Pricing for everything we experienced was on par with the rest of the city. This would be a top 2 hotel for us.

Our favorite place to stay when in TORONTO. It is an excellent place to stay. Beautiful architecture on the outside. It is a very comfortable place to stay!! The lighting in the bathroom is great for applying makeup. And, it is close to my favorite restaurant in Toronto, Jack Astors.

I booked an overnight stay for my boyfriend and I and we left feeling so pampered and excited to stay again!! We were told at check in that we’ve been upgraded to a suite. The room was unbelievable, equipped w a mini bar, bathtub and living room area. Room service was so easy, quick, delicious and reasonably priced. The staff went above and beyond what was expected with everyone we encountered being so friendly. In the morning we were provided complimentary breakfast where we were served!!! The dining area was immaculate and had so many options. The lobby area was also gorgeous and decorated with fresh flowers. I would not hesitate to book here again! Read less

Quick getaway as a couple. The Royal York has a special place in our hearts and we try to come down whenever we can. The staff, service and ambience never fail to impress. Despite the hotel being insanely busy on arrival the staff moved through the queuing guests quickly and politely not making us feel rushed or like a number
