The hotel

One of Toronto’s landmark hotels, Fairmont Royal York was built by Canadian Pacific Railway in 1929 and has since welcomed dignitaries and royalty, including Queen Elizabeth II. Once the tallest building in the British Empire, the hotel is housed in a distinctive chateau-style high-rise building and offers a wealth of amenities to keep you busy in-between sightseeing. The fitness centre is almost a world of its own with lap pool, children’s wading pool, steam rooms, saunas and a state-of-the-art gym. Two levels of shops are enough to satisfy the most ardent of shoppers with more shops located directly underneath the hotel in the PATH complex. Where is it

The hotel is located above PATH, a vast underground shopping and transportation complex with access to Union Station. CN Tower is 3 blocks away and the harbour front 7 minutes away. Transfer time from Toronto Airport: 30 minutes.

We had a great six nights stay at the Royal York. Subhankar, who works at the main desk was very friendly and helpful, he was always happy to give us advice about the local area and help us with any problems or queries we had during our stay. We had a comfortable room on the 11th floor with a great view of Toronto.

Great visit as always. This is always the first and/or last stop of my Ontario trips. I do this because my trips can usually be stressful or very busy and staying on the Gold Floor at the Royal York gives me a chance to unwind and completely relax. It is always the perfect ending or beginning to my trips. The staff working really make the experience extra special. I also love that I can relax and have my coffee and oatmeal and then come back and have a more proper breakfast later at my leisure. The Golf floor makes travelling and working easy and stress free. I picked this hotel purely because of it's proximity to the train station but I was not disappointed. The building has soo much history to it and even the smaller rooms ( of which I had one ) are well appointed. The only downside for me was the fact that I was unable to experience the library bar as it was packed out every night I was there ( as were most of the other nighttime venues ). It would have been nice if there was a residents only lounge where one could relax but I suppose I'm being old fashioned. Read less

We were pleased with our 2 night stay , great location, beautiful hotel. No complaints. We will definitely stay again, Lots of choices with dinning and bars. We had breakfast included and it was very good, Friendly helpful staff. You won’t be disappointed., treat yourself!
