I have stayed at this hotel before and have found it welcoming, great staff, good rooms, convenient parking, and terrific location. On this occasion my room was hosted for me by another guest for my birthday. Upon arrival I was informed we had been upgraded to corner rooms. Which was nice - although I didn't see any difference to previous rooms I had stayed in. I was also somewhat disheartened to find that even an upgraded room did not have a bathtub. My main complaints on this stay are centred on the bar and restaurant. Pre-dinner we chose our cocktails. The first on the list was unavailable and so I ordered a very common vodka-based cocktail instead. We waited a long time. When I asked our waiter about the delay I was informed that it was taking long because they had to go to the basement (?) to get the vodka. But, I said, look at all the vodka bottles behind the bar. Yes, he said, but because I was ordering a cocktail I was only entitled to Stolly. We all know that 'Stolly' is not remotely premium, and clearly the cheapest the hotel stocks. I found it insulting to be told this when ordering a $15 ordinary cocktail. At the very least, upon ordering my cocktail, the waiter could have asked if I would like to pay extra for a premium vodka. I would have preferred that as opposed to being told they had to scramble around a basement to obtain vodka cheap enough for my cocktail. The dinner was very nice indeed - a lovely ambience in the dining room and beautifully prepared food. Breakfast next day - not so much. Service was quite slow despite very few guests. The only non-meat alternative to bacon and sausage was potatoes, My scrambled eggs were very salty, the accompanying greens were very nice, the potatoes were (again) very salty, and the grilled bread was quite greasy. All in all I found the breakfast disappointing and over-priced. But would I stay here again -- yes. Although I might go elsewhere for pre-dinner drinks and breakfast. Read less

My husband and I are residents of downtown Toronto. During our home renovations we had to move into a hotel, as I'm pregnant and was in dire need of some peace, quiet and a break from the ever-present saw dust. We were greeted by Rob, a phenomenal host at the concierge desk. He checked us in quickly and ensured we strategically got a quiet room for our R&R trip. There were some challenges with the billing, as a result of the hotel system. Rob kindly provided the Hotel Managers contact information, so we could rectify the discrepancies the next day. After connecting with the Hotel Manager, Julia Devyatykh, it was a match made in hotel heaven. She was incredibly outstanding and committed to ensuring our stay was a comfy one. In love with the valiant efforts made to ensure high-quality, attentive customer experience. She was so responsive to our needs and very accommodating - can you believe she actually personally delivered my new stock of toilet paper and toiletries. We ended up having to extend our stay due to delayed renos. She assisted us through the process and made it seamless - we didn't even have to move rooms, luxury at its finest. The room service food was truly deeelish! Great chefs on-site, cooking up a storm, also accommodating to my food restrictions (courtesy of anaphylactic allergies and pregnancy). Being a foodie at heart and an executive working in the food industry, I am quite particular about where I give my "rave reviews". This hotel restaurant is definitely deserving of one. While my pregnancy brain leaves me struggling to find the name of my favourite dish, it was a sweet potato root veggie salad with chicken breast added - just scrumptious, perfect portion sizing and quality sourced ingredients are ever present in the delightful palatable journey! We highly highly recommend selecting this establishment for your next Torontonian adventure. It is nestled a hop-skip-and a jump to everything you could ever need, including the infamous Toronto neighbourhood of Yorkville. Read less
