Admittedly, I’m in the minority in my disdain for this property, and it’s not solely because I seriously injured myself here. Here’s some things you should know. Everything at The Anndore is done on the cheap. I quite like “industrial chic” but the materials used make Ikea seem very upscale – very low-quality wood, chintzy bathroom fixtures, and a couch not intended for comfortable seating. My room had a flimsy rug not secured by underpadding, causing me to injure my back because I took a bad slide. How penny-pinching is this hotel? They don’t even provide laundry bags, which the front desk staff isn’t aware of. After asking three times, I was given an oversized plastic garbage bag. I don’t think I’ve encountered such an unprofessional front desk staff. They are not very well trained, quite unfriendly, and I suspect don’t like their jobs all that much. If the hotel industry has an award for most miserable staff, The Anndore is a serious contender. The one exception was the overnight person working at 3 am Saturday when I arrived. I guess the hotel likes to assign its best people when few guests are around. The hotel put a $150 hold on my credit card for “incidentals” that remained on my card for days after I checked out. I’m not sure how anyone could spend that much on incidentals since the rooms don’t have mini bars. The hotel has an 11 am checkout and no lobby. I’ve never been denied a request to extend my checkout to 1 pm except at The Anndore. A front desk person who spoke poor English said she could extend a “complimentary” checkout till noon, but I’d have to pay an additional fee for a 1 pm checkout. I asked to speak to a manager who had all the charm of a motor vehicles clerk. I knew I was wasting my time the moment I met her. Let’s just say she has no business working in the hospitality industry. My sister ate at the hotel restaurant with two friends. My sister's meal was okay, but the fish one friend ordered was all bones and the ribs another friend ordered was all fat. The Anndore is owned by a company that operates mostly low-end hotels in Toronto and elsewhere in Canada. Its way overpriced given the cheap décor and the unprofessional staff. My sister stayed at a hotel one block away that was half the cost of my room and had a magnificent view. Be forewarned The Anndore is on a sketchy block where there’s a strip joint. A restaurant one block away had a shooting. I’ve never had a more miserable hotel stay than my weekend at The Anndore. I wouldn’t stay at any property owned or managed by its parent company. Get a Citypass. Visit Casa Loma. Take the subway. Only one block away. This hotel was a great decision for us! And the dining room is divine. Constantine's is an amazing experience. Three nights stay on the top floor of an exceptional boutique hotel. You will not be disappointed. Thank for helping my daughter and I make memories. Read less

I enjoyed staying here. My room was clean and I particularly enjoyed listening to the portable record player with the Doobie Brothers record provided. The food at Constantine was ok but I wanted more selection.

Friendly staff that very kindly provided us a complimentary upgrade, a nice cafe, barber and restaurant all downstairs, I was very happy to be staying here for a few nights. The only downside was the homeless ‘park’ next door, but that didn’t bother us at all - they weren’t loud or disruptive, and didnt influence our enjoyment at all. Read less
