Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

Vancouver, Canada

The hotel

A veritable castle in the heart of the city, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is an impeccable symbol of indulgence and pedigree. Offering the luxury and services of a world-class hotel, all guest rooms are beautifully furnished with every attention to detail observed. Facilities include a state-of-the-art health club, accessible 24-hours a day, with indoor heated swimming pool and saunas. Pilates and Yoga classes are available at the Sitka Studios or treat yourself to some well-deserved pampering at the Absolute Spa. There’s also some prime shopping in the lobby with designers stores selling plenty to tempt you! Although you’re close to plenty of restaurants and bars in the downtown area, the Fairmont’s very own Notch8 Restaurant & Bar is the ideal place to relax and watch the world pass by. Named after a train’s top speed, achieved only by the most skilled conductors, the restaurant pays homage to the hotel’s storied history and legacy as a luxury hotel along the Canadian Pacific railway. A traditional afternoon tea is also served here daily — for a special occasion, add a glass of champagne or, if the kids want to tag along, childish delights include Bubblegum Tea, fresh strawberries and cream and a giant chocolate chip cookie!

I was here for a week. The location is so convenient to my meetings. Nice clean hotel at a good price. The service was good as well. I used the lounge bar everyday after work. The rooms are traditional and very clean. There could have been more power outlets for one's phone, laptop and others. Or even USB ports. Not a complaint. The views are… Read more

It is walking distance to restaurants, bars and shopping areas. I walked to Gas Town in about 15 mins. If you are adventurous, the airport train is across the street but taxis are so cheap. Read less

We checked in very late, many floors of the hotel are closed. Despite our gold status we did not get any kind of the upgrade and the room we got pretty average with no view, lower floor. This is definitely not one of Fairmont premium hotels ie Lake Louise, Empress Victoria or Mission Sonoma, think an average business hotel with very average service. I would not recommend. Read less

We couldn't figure out how to enter hotel with our car, so parked in a lot down the street. It was very convenient and a lot cheaper. Had a large one bedroom suite booked but when went to second floor it was very dated and not renovated. Also the floor smelled like the Pool! Unless you are a committed swimmer, suggest staying away from second floor rooms! We called the front desk to ask about moving and Darren was so nice; he offered to move us to 2 separate rooms as there wasn't a renovated 2 bedded suite available. Girls were happy as were we so win win. Nicely renovated rooms. Small bathrooms but old hotel so can't be helped! Hotel was less than 15% occupied which was very sad. Bar was open which was great. perfect location for walking to Yale town, Gas town etc. Lots of shopping. Will return after Covid clears to enjoy all of the services and facilities. Staff were great, especially Darren. Read less

The room itself was so-so....the bathroom was so small you tripped over the bathmat going in and the air conditioning was noisy. There was an odd smell in the room. I know that this hotel is a heritage building and that limits its ability to renovate certain things. It is what it is. That being said, there are certain areas that clearly need a refresh. Great location, great staff, but not a luxury experience in my opinion. Read less
