The hotel

A veritable castle in the heart of the city, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is an impeccable symbol of indulgence and pedigree. Offering the luxury and services of a world-class hotel, all guest rooms are beautifully furnished with every attention to detail observed. Facilities include a state-of-the-art health club, accessible 24-hours a day, with indoor heated swimming pool and saunas. Pilates and Yoga classes are available at the Sitka Studios or treat yourself to some well-deserved pampering at the Absolute Spa. There’s also some prime shopping in the lobby with designers stores selling plenty to tempt you! Although you’re close to plenty of restaurants and bars in the downtown area, the Fairmont’s very own Notch8 Restaurant & Bar is the ideal place to relax and watch the world pass by. Named after a train’s top speed, achieved only by the most skilled conductors, the restaurant pays homage to the hotel’s storied history and legacy as a luxury hotel along the Canadian Pacific railway. A traditional afternoon tea is also served here daily — for a special occasion, add a glass of champagne or, if the kids want to tag along, childish delights include Bubblegum Tea, fresh strawberries and cream and a giant chocolate chip cookie!

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great hotel with one little shortcoming

As many have said, this is a beautiful, historic hotel. Our stay was very comfortable. There is just one little shortcoming: the hotel really needs a gift shop selling snacks, toiletries, etc. Instead, the rather tacky first floor is filled with high-end stores like Gucci and Omega, and the surrounding streets likewise have similar stores… Read more

There is just one little shortcoming: the hotel really needs a gift shop selling snacks, toiletries, etc. Instead, the rather tacky first floor is filled with high-end stores like Gucci and Omega, and the surrounding streets likewise have similar stores (Tiffany, etc.) and very few normal shops and eateries. Some may like this, but you can't eat luxury goods. Read less

The hotel was lovely with very comfortable beds and pillows. We decided to eat at the hotel restaurant and the food was really not good. It was also a little expensive. The fish in the fish and chips order was perfectly golden fried, but the fish was mushy. For a hotel located on the sea, that is disappointing. For dinner, we ate at COAST… Read more

Rooms are…, well Fairmont; quality with old world style. Service is great. Staff are friendly and welcoming and they everyone you encounter really seems to enjoy their job. My only gripe, and it’s minor for the hotel, as some might not use the faculty, but the gym is small and could use some new equipment. I’ve stayed at this hotel on 4… Read more

The customer service was exceptional and the staff was professional and courteous. This was a family vacation and we all enjoy swimming. Other than the location and service, the swimming pool was the primary reason for booking the hotel. During our stay the pool was open, however the jacuzzi was under construction. We wanted to enjoy the experience, but the hammering and power tools made it impossible. Our 7 year old and 21 month old could no longer stay in the pool while the repairs were being made, so we cut the swimming short. Upon check out a manager asked how our stay was and I explained the situation about construction. She was vey sympathetic and to compensate us, she offered to buy us breakfast but unfortunately we did not have time. She said she would discuss this with management and to expect them to reach out soon. Read less

This hotel is a real touch of class in a great location. It’s like stepping back in n time. Just a 10 minute walk to the waterfront & cruise port. Great service and cleanliness . Breakfast was very good. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
