This is obviously a very fancy hotel. Although it was overall a comfortable stay, in sum I was not overly impressed, mostly due to the very terrible parking situation, and 1 bad incident with somewhat rude service at the front desk. I don't really think it was worth the money, and I don't really understand how the rating is nearly 5 stars. I feel like it should be barely 4 stars. We drove to the hotel and got there late at night. It was slightly tricky to locate the parking garage. After we found it, our challenges were not over. Even though this is a 5-star hotel, after a certain hour at night, there is somehow no camera or other system that allows the hotel to detect (and let-in to the garage) hotel guests? If you arrive at night time, you can pull your car in to the entrance of the garage, but there is no way for the hotel to tell that you are there, nor open the closed garage door for you. I literally had to get out of my car parked in front of the closed off parking garage, dash over to the entrance, speak with the front desk, and ask them to open the door 30 seconds after I departed. What an arduous "system". This was not a one-off occurrence, as it happened multiple nights. 3-star hotels that I've stayed at had far superior and convenient parking arrangements. Once you are in the garage, some of the spaces are a bit cramped, and the payment system is a bit unclear. The front desk said that they would add the steep parking charges directly to my hotel bill (which they did, thankfully), but the signs in the parking garage state that you should pay for your stay at the machines. This terrible parking design and arrangement really detracts from the hotel. I wonder if this terrible design was a deliberate decision to encourage the use of the valet service, and to discourage guests from parking on their own? This antiquated hotel parking situation really marred my impression of the Fairmont. Other than the absolutely absurd parking situation, overall service and rooms were OK. Check-in staff was very friendly, although things took a bit of time. However, our second night 1 girl at the front desk didn't seem very interested in helping when we asked to be let in to the parking garage. She should be removed from a customer-facing role. Check-out service was a bit quicker and better than the slightly rude girl. For the rooms, I appreciated the comfortable beds, large TVs, bottled water, and espresso pod machines. Cleanliness and housekeeping also seemed good. Outside noise was generally not a problem. The bathroom was spacious and I appreciated the Euro-style rain shower, as well as the bath tub. The embedded TV in the bathroom mirror is quite interesting. 1 day I tried to reserve something at the spa, but everything seemed to be full. Still, with the rates that the Fairmont charges and the overall image, things, such as the parking situation and all service, should have been excellent, and not just good. I never felt like anything was extraordinary; I considered giving only a 3-star rating. Just another fancy hotel that happens to look quite nice, but a bit underwhelming. I would look for another high-class hotel to stay the next time that I come to Vancouver. Read less

We had the most amazing time. Everything PRIVATEUPGRADES had organised for us went off without any problems. The hotel is simply amazing, the staff s just so awesome and friendly we even made some friends with some of the staff members. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Will visit again soon!!!

We had 3 nights at the Pacific Rim thru AMEX fine dining and resorts. We enjoyed the upgrade and the AMAZING breakfast. The bar scene in the lobby is super chic and hipster. We enjoyed a few cocktails but apparently the bar scene on the second floor is better due to having global award winning bar tenders. ( I read it in a magazine). I was fine… Read more

I have stayed at many Fairmont hotels and Vancouver Fairmont Pacific Rim is the absolutely most gorgeous, best service, incredible Fairmont of them all. Better than the Boston Copely (which is currently my home away from home and I adore), better than the Fairmont Singapore. And both of those are amazing. Why is it so good? It's new and gleaming. The Japanese bath room is drop-dead beautiful with views from glass walls around the bath (high floor=privacy) to blow your mind. Soaking tub is delicious. They delivered treats to help celebrate my special birthday but unfortunately housekeeping took it away before we enjoyed it (???). But seeing as how that was the ONLY flaw in our stay I am fine with a bit less chocolate. The gold lounge was first class, food was amazing, and the lovely women that works there (German?) helped with everything. Worth every Canadian penny. The two hotel bars were well supplied with local spirits. For craft cocktails it's best to go upstairs. Regarding transport, we arrived from the airport via train which was very easy and inexpensive (pro-tip: don't buy a ticket from the machine. Simply use your credit card at the turnstyle and go in!), and from there walked and biked. I can't wait to return to this gorgeous hotel. Truly a relaxing birthday vacation. One for the books! I've stayed at this property a number of times over the past few years. I've been a huge supporter of the Pac Rim and even raved about it to friends and family. My most recent stay, this week, was a bit of a let down. To preface this, I am a Le Club Accor Platinum Member and do have high expectations on my stays. The bad: - Early Check-In - I'm used to receiving an advance check-in email from Fairmont. I did not receive one on this stay which had me questioning if they even had my reservation. I didn't require an early check-in but I like having the keys available, ready to go once I arrive to the hotel. Upon check-in, I was also never asked if I required a late check-out (Platinum benefit). - Turn down service - I stayed 3 nights and only received turn-down service once. I look forward to this service, especially when travelling for business. The night staff came to complete turn down service between 8:30-9pm each night, which is frankly too late for me. The one night I received service, I had to put a request in as I left the hotel for dinner. Note for next time, request an earlier service time. - Turn Down Service Elixir - My last few stays have included an Elixir to complement the water provided during service. I look forward to this added enhancement and have come to learn this service has now been discontinued. It was the little details that truly made this hotel remarkable and sad to see it gone. - Day Use at the Spa - I tried to book a Spa appointment but all appointments were fully booked during my stay. No worries, I thought. I'll just use the facilities like I have the previous visits. Turns out, the hotel now has a day-use fee. Totally get it, but once again, if I can't get into an appointment, it's a bit of a letdown as a guest at the hotel, especially at the Platinum level. Reconsider usage! It was never busy on the time's I have been there and can certainly accommodate hotel guests. - Lobby Lounge - Went down for a nightcap with colleagues and was never offered the nuts/snacks that are usually provided complimentary. I saw other table's have some so not sure why our table was missed. Inconsistent service. - Check In/Check Out - All other Fairmont's have a dedicated Club Accor counter. I couldn't see the signage up this time and had to wait behind a number of other guests checking out. I'm fine to wait, but not the level of service I have come to expect. - Bedding - The hotel should consider replacing (or at least flipping) the mattresses as my last few stays have had noticeably sunken mattresses on one side. - Room Cleaning - Room cleaning was inconsistent during my stay and seemed rushed. The good: - Location is great, walkable to most major attractions/offices/waterfront - Rooms are still in great condition and quite spacious - Fairmont bedding is the best - The Lobby Lounge is a relaxing place to be in the evenings/mornings - Great gym facilities - Welcome Amenity is great, and staff went above and beyond to also recognize a milestone moment for me with an additional amenity. I also had the pleasure of being placed beside a room who decided to have a 1am party on a Monday night. I never called security but heard security in the hallway within minutes. They spent a solid 2 minutes on their walky talky before knocking on their door. Props to the team for handling this, but also would have appreciated a quicker response. I will consider my next stay in Vancouver, especially as this hotel tends to be more expensive than others in the area and the decrease in amenities and services no longer justify the higher cost.
