We stayed at the Pacific Rim in Vancouver with the "stay close" offer for our 8yr anniversary. We were so so excited about our stay, and we were so thoroughly disappointed on leaving. We enjoyed our stay, overall the cleaning staff and bar staff were friendly, there were some questionable bumps, but we put that down to Covid. However, when we come to pay, the bill was 3x the amount the website stated (379.50 per night then buy one night get one free). But instead just the room came to $900+. So in actual fact the offer is 779.00 per night and one free. This was already such a massive treat for us, with covid and putting money aside to do something nice, and now we are screwed for our rent/food/bills. For 1k you'd at least expect WiFi to be included. Not only was this a huge shock, as the site had said the room was 379.50. We then had to listen to the manager treat us so horribly, the way she spoke to us lead me to have a panic attack. I have never ever been treated with such a condescending tone anywhere by anyone. I feel so disgusted and angry that someone could feel it is okay to make you feel bad after already being visibly upset. Through the website the total costings were not clear at all and the word "deposit" is not clearly defined as something that would not be returned. Through my entire life of renting cars, staying places, living in places, a deposit is something you get back if you haven't broken anything, to find out this is actually part of the cost was another blow. I am so scared of what the next month's are going to bring, as we don't have the means to cover this. On top of this, the little oversights we were willing to forego, have been magnified, the room service was really hard to get hold of, so we got our own food at points, there was no free wifi, to rent a movie is was $25!! That's more than a cinema ticket. There were unclean tables in the bar. Almost all the facilities were closed but this wasn't even that clear on booking. On arrival we were told people from America were travelling through and staying too, which is putting your staff and clients at risk. We had put these quirks aside, but how we were treated on exit magnified them 10 fold. The price on the website is false advertising, and the offer should be reworded or repriced. I will happily never stay at a Fairmont hotel ever again, and I will make sure anyone I know does the same. And not even due to the shock of the price nor the lack of facilities, but due to the manager and how she could think she could talk to anyone like that. It is beyond my comprehension. No one deserves that ever, let alone during these times. Read less

The Signature Harbour View Room at Fairmont lets you look right at the Tourism Vancouver Visitor Centre that is ~50 meters away. For the price they charge, I would not say this is a good value for the money. I booked through AMEX's Fine Hotel & Resort and was supposed to have comp. upgrade into the Signature Ofuro Room. They said there is no room available but when I checked on the official Fairmont as well as on various travel site for the same date, the Signature Ofuro Room is available for booking. This is certainly not how other hotel programs handle their comp. upgrade. Instead of a comp. upgrade, I got put into a fake Signature Harbour View Room. We were there celebrating a special occasion and the experience left us feeling underwhelmed. We travel a lot and have stayed at different high end properties like RC, Conrad, WA and was hoping Fairmont would live up to our expectation but unfortunately it has not. Locally, we have stayed at Shangri-la, unlike Fairmont, they do Honor the comp. upgrade program from AMEX FHR. I have also noticed their interior decor are built with better material. If I had to choose between the two for similar price, I would choose Shangri-la for better customer service and more comfortable stay. (For example, a pillow menu; You won't get woken up by door slamming, my wife got woken up numerous times; larger rooms, better material all around [our toilet flush broke at midnight in Pacific Rim and there was water running sound for a good 30 min after each flush]) Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating In my opinion the best hotel in Vancouver

Very quiet hotel, the hotel location is very convenient, very close to Canada Place, Pacific Center, and Gas Town. The room is average sized, but has a very great view. Lobby is a bit small, but the service is pretty good. Very good breakfast as well.

The Fairmont Pacific Rim is still open for guests staying at the hotel but all but the Giovane + Eatery + Market are closed for food, & the g - as it is branded - is only doing takeouts. It is open 6 a.m to 8p.m. Also closed are its pool & wonderful spa facilities. I have wonderful memories of eating at all of the hotel’s restaurants & eateries, as well as spending some wonderful hours at the spa, compliments my wonderful son & equally wonderful daughter/in-law, given as a gift for a milestone birthday. And what a day it was at the Pacific Rim. First, I was taken for a sumptuous lunch at the Botanist. Everything was spectacular - the food, the service & the surrounds. After lunch my son got up & said come with me, not telling me where we were going , but as my granddaughter — then almost five & my grandson almost 1 1/2 — were coming along, too, I guessed it would be a pleasant enough place where ever it was. We got into the hotel elevator. It opened & there was the spa. It is certainly the most wonderful spa experience I have every had & I have been to some nice spars in my time. The masseuse was terrific & everything as it should be. What put it over the top was an outdoor hot tub, looking over the buildings around the Convention Centre & out over the water. But even more was in store for me. My son & granddaughter picked me up & whisked me off to a surprise birthday party, to which my good & close friends had been invited. As the song goes .., What a Night. My dinning & spa experience at the Pacific Rim certainly set it up perfectly. All are waiting eagerly for things to return to the old or a new normal, post the Coronavirus crisis. In the meantime we can get scrumptious pizza & banana coconut latte at g’s.
