We had a suite with balcony which was superb, gave us lots of space for our extended stay. Was great having some outside space in the form of a balcony; would highly recommend the type of room. Good location for aquabus to Granville Island and walking distance to other bus routes. Breakfast is good with a range of choices however it is chaotic. Don't be surprised if you don't get a table. Worth going down early or late as the area for breakfast is not big enough for size of hotel. Read less

We were staying in Vancouver for two nights prior to leaving on a cruise. We were looking for a reasonably priced hotel that wasn't too far to the cruise terminal. This hotel is located in a business district, I would say - it is not realistically within walking distance to the cruise terminal with luggage, but it is also not a long drive away, either (maybe a little more than a mile?). Our taxi from the hotel to the cruise terminal was about $10 (not sure if this was CAD or USD) - and the ride, probably took under 15 minutes, door to door. The taxis seemed to stop by in front of the hotel fairly regularly. The hotel is about a block or block 1/2 from the city bus stop, but is about 6-7 blocks (uphill) from the Yaletown/Roundhouse Canada Line railway stop. So, you can take the Canada Line (very inexpensive) train from the airport to that stop (about 35-45 minute trip), then get out and transfer to a city bus for the 6 or 7 block trip up the hill toward the hotel. We got lucky with a very friendly and helpful (and patient!) bus driver who waited while we loaded all of our suitcases (there were 3 of us traveling) onto the city bus (which fortunately was not crowded when we boarded), which stops directly in front of the Yaletown/Roundhouse train station. Our hotel room was on an upper floor, and was large and lovely. This is a typical Residence Inn, which includes a full refrigerator and a cooktop, some dishes, a living area, etc. There was a very large TV, which we never turned on, as we were sightseeing the entire day before our cruise. We thought the bathroom was especially gorgeous - very modern, and the shower was fantastic. The only fault we could find was that the towels, especially for such a posh hotel, were pretty thin, and not too soft. We liked everything else about the room. There was even a very narrow balcony with 2 chairs and a small table - we had an even #'d room, and had a nice city view, too. (The room across the hall had a view of the construction going on across the street from the front of the hotel.) The breakfast that is included with the room featured several hot items as well as other typical fare. And, there were waitstaff there who were efficient at cleaning off tables once they were vacated, and they were also very friendly! Across the street from the hotel is a 7-11, where you can pick up drinks, snacks, and anything else you might need, last minute. The only negative on our stay related to the front desk staff. They were not terribly welcoming when we arrived (which was after more than 12 hours of traveling, in our case). It was almost a bother that we wanted to check in. It would have been nice to chat about where did we come in from, would we like a cold/bottled water, etc.? Not really interested in that. That evening, however, when we called asking for a dinner recommendation, they did have a suggestion that we really enjoyed (Earl's Kitchen) within a few blocks of the hotel - although it was a pretty young vibe there, and we are middle aged/seniors - not exactly their demographic! Anyway, the other two mornings when we were in the lobby, we asked about transportation - in one case we inquired about the tour company that would be picking us up for an all day tour (they were running about 10 minutes later than our scheduled pick up time). In the other case, we were asking about getting a taxi to the port that would be a VAN rather than a Prius (which is what a lot of the taxis were) - because there were 3 of us and we had a lot of luggage. We lucked out that morning when a van did pull up shortly after we went outside, but in either case, the front desk seemed very indifferent to our (unwarranted, as it turned out) concerns about morning transportation options. Again, these were relatively minor concerns, but that is why I am unable to give them a 5 star review. That being said, I would stay there again, if we were overnighting in Vancouver; I would now have a better idea of how to get from the airport to the hotel, and from the hotel to the cruise terminal. Also, the rate we were charged was very reasonable for a large city, and with benefit of the CAD/USD exchange rates - we only paid $242 CAD per night, which was $182 per night USD. Including a nice breakfast - that's a great deal! Read less

What a great surprise. This place was much better than many full service Marriott's. We found the rooms, service and staff outstanding. We will tell everyone touring Alaska then Vancouver to use this place.

We found this to be a great place to base our visit. Convenient to public bus, Hop on Hop off bus, and many dining options. The breakfast was very complete with many options. The staff was most helpful. The room was excellent.
