Westin Bayshore Vancouver

Vancouver, Canada

The hotel

This glamourous bay-side residence sits on a curve of Vancouver Harbour facing stunning Stanley Park — giving you incredible views and incredible access to this urban utopia. You can explore the park like locals with The Westin Bayshore’s complimentary bikes (if you’re not tempted off-track by cycling expeditions like their tantalisingly titled ‘Craft Beer Tour’). This being a Westin hotel, they’ve included other sporty freebies like RunWESTIN jogging routes, YogaWESTIN sessions, and a WestinWORKOUT® Fitness Studio. If sport isn’t your game, there’s always spa treatments, a soak in the chic circular pool (perfectly positioned by the harbour’s boardwalk, and your room’s ‘Heavenly’ bed and bath. And, after the sightseeing, the sports, or the simple relaxation, you can take your seat in the H2 Rotisserie and Bar to enjoy seasonal cuisine and views of Coal Harbour and the North Shore Mountains.

The location is superb. The outdoor pool is a great escape. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. Definitely a great place to stay in Vancouver. Access by car is easy. Stanley Park is right next door. Get a room overlooking the harbour. We will be back.

We are still on property for two more days, but I want to take the time to write this now. We decided to come here because we needed out of Ontario. It has been a difficult year and we needed time together as a family. We booked a superior double room but upon arrival, we were offered an upgrade to a corner view in the newer tower, for $30 more a night. I cannot tell you how much that decision impacted our trip. The view from the room is breathtaking. We debated between the Westin and Fairmont pacific rim, but we knew that the Westin would be best for our young children. The room. The pool. The bike rentals. The activities like seeing the bees. All of it has impressed us. We usually frequent Mexico, Dominican, Jamaica, but given the circumstances we knew that we could not leave the country yet. I am so glad we came here. I did not realize how much I needed this and the workers here at the Westin treated us like they knew we needed this. I always say that taking a vacation is a massive investment. Some people save five years to go away, so when the trip is disappointing it can be heartbreaking given the cost. This was absolutely rejuvenating. In regards to the Covid protocols, I never felt unsafe. However, I love that British Columbia is at a point where it allows you to make a decision on what you feel comfortable doing. Everyone seems so much more respectful towards each other knowing that they have a choice in how they act. People were very respectful if they knew you wanted to take an elevator alone, wear a mask, don’t wear a mask, etc.... I find this to be a wonderful way to handle the pandemic. Personal responsibility. The workers were all masked at all times. The only thing I would like to highlight about this hotel is if you have young children, it is offset from a lot of the restaurants so you do need to walk a bit to get to certain places. Most places are around 700 m to just over a kilometre away depending on what you want to eat, so you might want to factor that in to your decision. However, the food here was also very good if people wanted to stay on property. We spent most of our days by the pool because it was the most like a southern vacation that we usually take. However, we did go to Capilano Bridge which was very enjoyable and great for children. Any child under 4 may find it difficult to walk through as the bridges are high and small. Thank you Westin for allowing us to exhale for the first time in 18 months. We will be back! Read less

We upgraded rooms to a suite as our initial room was very small and there was a small group of partiers down the hall. The first day we had to reserve the pool chairs which was ok but it was not relaxing due to all the kids and people sitting in front who couldnt get a chair reservation. I found a bandaid in the pool along with several masks which was kinda gross. The pool is large which is good but still hard to get a chair the next day when the reservation system was over. If you enjoy family oriented hotels this is for you but for couples who want privacy and quiet id recommend another property. Some rooms are still outdated such as the suite we were in. Not a great bang for you buck compared to other newer hotels in the city. Im not sure if they will renovate these other room as I heard the property has been sold for a new development. Read less

Nice place, well located but our bed smelled like an old rag on our first night. It took 4 attemps to get this resolved (phone, talked to the concierge, the front desk and was only adressed when I got mad) the lining on top of the bed was dirty, something I would not expect from the Westin. Other than that, the stay was pleasant and very nice… Read more
