Vancouver, Canada

The hotel

This glamourous bay-side residence sits on a curve of Vancouver Harbour facing stunning Stanley Park — giving you incredible views and incredible access to this urban utopia. You can explore the park like locals with The Westin Bayshore’s complimentary bikes (if you’re not tempted off-track by cycling expeditions like their tantalisingly titled ‘Craft Beer Tour’). This being a Westin hotel, they’ve included other sporty freebies like RunWESTIN jogging routes, YogaWESTIN sessions, and a WestinWORKOUT® Fitness Studio. If sport isn’t your game, there’s always spa treatments, a soak in the chic circular pool (perfectly positioned by the harbour’s boardwalk, and your room’s ‘Heavenly’ bed and bath. And, after the sightseeing, the sports, or the simple relaxation, you can take your seat in the H2 Rotisserie and Bar to enjoy seasonal cuisine and views of Coal Harbour and the North Shore Mountains.

Wonderful stay at the Bayshore. Terrific room with a beautiful view of Stanley Park and the North Shore. Love watching the float planes swoop down-- just outside the window! Many updates since my last visit. Signature Vancouver Hotel.

First of all, I would like to preface I have stayed at the Bayshore before and very pleased. All the staff was very accommodating including giving us free upgrades since it wasn't too busy during COVID. I wasn't planning on leaving this review because I emailed the Director of Guest Services, Megan [--] thinking I would get an explanation on how a duvet can be so disgustingly dirty especially during a PANDEMIC yet I have not gotten any response for a week now. On July 31, I surprised my girlfriend with a little staycation, it was hot and we wanted to enjoy the beautiful pool. During check in we were upgraded to a harbour view room for free even though we booked thru a 3rd party app. Everything was fine until we were getting tucked into bed to watch tv around 9PM, I decided to undo the betting and then I saw this! (pictures below) I thought during covid cleaning and safety standards would go UP, not DOWN We were so disgusted that we just left the hotel and didn't stay the full night You guys can do so much better Read less

Beautiful property. Be forewarned that if you are travelling on a weekend, you need reservations to go to the outside pool. Due to the current pandemic, I wanted to choose a hotel that had an outside pool, somewhere close where I could take my daughter and go swimming, sit out poolside. Many hotels had their pools closed. The website for Bayshore states the indoor pool is closed due to health reasons but the outdoor pool was open. No mention of restrictions or reservations. I arrived on Saturday and was given a letter stating all of the rules in place for Covid safety reasons. One such rule was only 2 hours max in outside pool and reservations needed. I read this letter once I had arrived in my room. I immediately phoned front desk and wad told they are booked for the day. For reservations the next day, I needed to go see Concierge. So I head there and wait in line to be told they are booked the following day as well. Later that afternoon, I received a generic email stating the booking link was down for pool reservations and to see front desk to make one. Again, they’re booked. I’m not sure where this magical link is located, wasn’t in my confirmation email and I can’t locate on their website. In room dining has also been cancelled, the website mentions some other dining cancellations but not this. I understand the reason for not entering the room but some hotels are delivering just to your door, which is no different than them serving you in the restaurant. This was another disappointment as we weren’t comfortable in a crowded dining room so we had to eat elsewhere. We did purchase a package with dining credit but was unable to use it. Lesson learned. I guess I should have phoned first. Seeing that their website appeared up to date with Covid restrictions and being that it is part of a major chain, I believed what I read. Unfortunately it was $350 wasted. We could have enjoyed a pool elsewhere; instead, we had a room overlooking the pool so my daughter could only just sit and watch everyone else. Big disappointment. The hotel and setting itself is lovely . Westin quality. Although the outside entrances desperately needs gounds keeping. Our issue was the pool. It was packed! Nobody checking keys at the entrance. There as a large group of people that were celebrating a birthday. Probably 10 or so people....and guessing that only two couples had rooms. They had their own music blaring competing with the hotel music. Had asked hotel staff more than once to have them turn it off...never happened. The had brought in tons of their own alcohol which I thought was not allowed. Bottles of wine...glass bottles!! Lots of cans. The the staff turned a blind eye. People were getting progressive drunk. Especially one lady who was in so many peoples faces...like a foot away. Security finally started to man the gate at around 3:00. They were told about the music and the glass bottles but nothing seemed to be done about it. There were also a lot of people that were clearly not hotel guests. A family of five with 3-4 stuff back packs and pool bags? Totally unfair situation to the hotel guests. Read less
