Westin Bayshore Vancouver

Vancouver, Canada

The hotel

This glamourous bay-side residence sits on a curve of Vancouver Harbour facing stunning Stanley Park — giving you incredible views and incredible access to this urban utopia. You can explore the park like locals with The Westin Bayshore’s complimentary bikes (if you’re not tempted off-track by cycling expeditions like their tantalisingly titled ‘Craft Beer Tour’). This being a Westin hotel, they’ve included other sporty freebies like RunWESTIN jogging routes, YogaWESTIN sessions, and a WestinWORKOUT® Fitness Studio. If sport isn’t your game, there’s always spa treatments, a soak in the chic circular pool (perfectly positioned by the harbour’s boardwalk, and your room’s ‘Heavenly’ bed and bath. And, after the sightseeing, the sports, or the simple relaxation, you can take your seat in the H2 Rotisserie and Bar to enjoy seasonal cuisine and views of Coal Harbour and the North Shore Mountains.

This is my 4th staycation in Vancouver during this horrible pandemic messing up our lives. All four have been for two nights. This time we chose the Westin Bayshore, as they have some great promo deals going on. Have never stayed in the Bayshore, but have attended various functions over the years. And, they have the very interesting history about Howard Hughes, 6 month stay here, in the early 70's. Our two night stay was superb. We had a tower, corner harbour room. The view was spectacular and the weather was excellent. A shout out for the excellent Customer Service given to us by Geoffrey and Andrew. Geoffrey checked us in and Andrew was exceptional for the number of times I came to the front desk for information and some assistance. Both truly represent the Marriott Bonvoy way of providing Number One Customer Service. Be aware that breakfast for Monday to Friday is not in the dining room. It is only available from the coffee shop in take out containers. And, no Westin quality place to sit and enjoy it. Aside from that, we are happy to return for another staycation. The Lounge is open daily from 3 p.m. with outside seating. We enjoyed the Happy Hour on two of our afternoons. The Westin Bayshore is located beautifully, on the harbour and adjacent to Stanley Park. We took a walk two days into Stanley Park along the seawall. The Hotel has bicycles available for guest use, with no charge. There is a two hour limit. We did not use one, this time, but a nice option to have available. The indoor pool or gym were not open for our stay. Not sure when they might become available. All Hotels, seem to be operating these facilities in a different manner. If you are planning on enjoying some wine or beverage, in your room, the rooms only provide plastic glasses. Wine glasses are not available from the bar. Overall, we had a most enjoyable, relaxing, two night stay. Still feels weird, wherever we go with all the masking and restrictions, going on. Read less

I stayed there for a few weeks in Aug-Sept. I've stayed here many times before - love the location. Compared to nearby hotel such as Fairmont Pac Rim, Pan Pacific, Sutton Place, etc, this hotel is older (though they went thru reno earlier this year). Given I stayed there longer this time, I wanted something with a nice view, and walkable distance to Stanley Park. That's why I chose it. Here is a summary of my review for this stay: *Room - I had a harbor view room. Love the view and perfect for work. Love their bed. Who can beat a Westin bed? *In-room cleaning - N/A due to COVID but they provide you w/ supplies I needed to freshen up the room. Would have been nice to get some cleaning once a week for extended stay though *Spa - They have limited staff but I got the treatment I wanted. It was nice & quiet *Staff - I love their staff from the front desk, cafe, restaurant, mgmt. They were very accommodating. You get to know everyone after a few weeks. Front desk staff were extremely helpful. Service Express phone line from the room is hard to get a hold of someone sometimes. But when you do they are very helpful. *Valet - N/A during COVID. Self park only *Bell Service - Also N/A during COVID. You use the cart to take things up and down. Miss the bell service for sure when you have many bags *Food - When you have to eat many times at the hotel, it gets tricky. Main restaurant was not opened except weekend brunch. Lounge opened daily for HH and dinner. HH is great but they only have 3 food items and a couple drink options. Dinner menu is somewhat limited. While HH was consistent, food quality on dinner menu was not. I ordered similar dishes a few times during my stay and they came in different portion and ingredient distribution. Maybe different chef over the few week period. Drinks and drink options were awesome. Cafe staff are great. I had breakfast there every am and they have a wide variety of coffee and breakfast item options. They had some sammies and salads but not too exciting. But I love how they make the coffee drinks - better than the actual Starbucks which I go to everyday normally. In-room service not avail during COVID. But if you can roam around that's not a problem at all. Plenty of options nearby. Pool - Everybody complained about having to book it in advance if you want to go on the weekends. But they were doing crowd control - so that's needed. I didn't use it myself. The indoor pool/hot tub is closed right now due to COVID. Including the gym. But that's just a great excuse for me not to have to work out. A walk to Stanley park is a lot more fun. Shops - Ppl usually don't care but I love hotel gift shops. I buy hotel robes, Fairmont bears, bath set, you name it. Sadly all shops are closed as in out of business. The only shop opened is the sundries shop that has snacks, drinks, some local gifts, etc. They only open on the weekends. Business center - Closed. Staff were confused and didn't know it was closed so they would point me there initially but I figured that out eventually. They were able to help me print some docs which was all I needed. I think I hit everything that travelers care about and more. I am heading back in a few weeks so hopefully things are consistent or better, compared to my last stay. I don't like surprises when I travel which is why I stay at the same hotels all the time if I like them. Read less

After camping I wanted to stay one night at a hotel and sure glad we stayed at the Westin! We were upgraded to a Harbour view room and it was great! Pool was perfect and we had Happy Hour at the H Tasting Lounge. With this pandemic it is nice to be able to have a Staycation so thank you Westin staff for making our stay enjoyable!
