Galley Bay Resort & Spa

Antigua, Caribbean

The hotel

Set on one of Antigua's many beautiful beaches, the Galley Bay Resort & Spa offers guests a fabulous combination of superior service, Caribbean cuisine and rustic luxury in a very natural setting. Much of the architecture here is inspired by the French artist Gauguin. The charming, refurbished individual suites have their own splash pool and are surrounded by lush gardens and views of the lagoon. There are three excellent open-air restaurants, all beachfront, offering intimate, candlelit dining of excellent quality. Ismay's Restaurant offers a higher quality dining experience to be shared for that special occasion, whilst the more laid-back Barefoot Grill is a great place to enjoy a tasty quesadilla made with resort grown produce. At sunset, hors d'oeuvres are served at the bar which overlooks the sea from under its Tahitian-style roof. There are activities such as non-motorised water sports and a recently expanded gym, but reclining with a novel on the beachfront deck from the library is equally as popular.

It was our first visit to Galley Bay Resort and to the island of Antigua and it exceeded our expectations. It was everything that we wanted in an island getaway -- quiet resort -- adults only -- great food -- friendly staff -- all inclusive. We stayed in one of the 'Gauguin Suites' -- while not right on the beach (as some of the other units are), it offered quiet, privacy, and its own small 'plunge pool'. There were many activities right at the Resort, or, they offered a variety of optional excursions (priced separately). We very much enjoyed the afternoon excursion with 'Caption Sean' on his sailboat, which ended with a lovely sunset. Overall a wonderful week. Read less

To me this detracts from what Galley Bay is all about. We got married here so hypocritical to say this? No. Small weddings family members. Great. 12 plus lunatics that want to play music round the pool, have drinks in the pool and generally disturb the peace and tranquility that Galley Bay is supposed to be about... Hard to find a complete peaceful relaxing resort so please get back to that A lot of jet skis around now from a neighbouring resort. This is going to result in a serious accident before long and again detracts from the peace. GB can’t do much about this we know apart from discouraging the drinks in the pool crowd who think they are a good idea.... One gripe but a big one Everything else is awesome. Love it food great. Staff fantastic! Run bar could do with a lift to get people to use it more. Don’t know how if I’m honest but I’d not. I can see that being closed down which would be a shame. Hope to go back next year but at the price it is elsewhere will be looked at very closely for sure... Read less

The food is so delicious and there is plenty of choice for vegetarians. At the bar they will make any drink you wish for, our favourite being a Banana and Coconut Smoothie! We were in Room 23, walking straight on to the beach from the patio. The sea being no more than 10 metres away. The gardens are beautiful and they grow their own produce. Will definately be back! We had a wonderful holiday. The gardens in the resort are really beautiful and a pleasure to walk through each day. The food in all the restaurants was wonderful. We both would return to Galley Bay for another holiday.

The food, drinks and service were all top notch! We were just there last week for our honeymoon. This is a very laid back atmosphere with awesome beaches and a nice swimming pool. The restaurants and bars are great. The employees are always looking to help you out and make your stay a memorable one.
