I love the people I have met in Antigua. The beaches are some of the best in the world. The people at Hawksbill are remarkable! Eden Beach keeps pulling me back to the quaint bungalows along the beach. The resort had fallen into disrepair and needed major renovations. They are being completed, but not done. Major upgrades have been made to the infrastructure. Our Beachfront Bungalow was tastefully updated with a great bed and open air rain shower. New walkways replaced the crumbling stairs. The new pool is a work of art but it s located a long way from the daytime bar. It seems superfluous with 4 magnificent beaches steps away. The food was good with a wide variety to choose. Service, front desk to meals to bars to maids...everybody, exceptional. We were the first to rent our newly renovated room, some details were not complete. Noticeably, a bathroom mirror and outlet, main room lighting, and a more extensive repair for hot water. The vegetation is newly planted throughout and will be lush. I rushed back to the resort I have loved for decades. I wanted to see the improvements They are significant. Read less

I have stayed at several resorts on the island that I would not return too however I was surprised upon our arrival to Hawksbill we were met with a couple of flutes of champagne and a couple of cold towels. Kudos to Ms. Arlene Marsh and her management staff for running a tight ship. The management and wait/staff were very hospitable during our stay as they engaged with you when they saw you while having a meal or just walking the grounds. The resort is super well maintained and very clean. Waking up and looking at the ocean from your bed was beyond special. All inclusive means 3 meals breakfast buffet ,alacarte lunch and dinner buffet a snack in the afternoon which consists of sandwiches and unlimited drinking at the 3 bars. The infinity pool is an addition to the resort as watching the sunset while drinking a cocktail was the added bonus. There is Entertainment every evening at the main restaurant. If you are looking for comfort and quietness this is the resort for you. Read less

This was our second stay at Hawksbill. We arrived 6 days after the opening date (which was delayed by a week), and whilst it's fair to say the resort wasn't quite ready for guests following the renovation work (which was still ongoing as it is behind schedule), it did not spoil our holiday in any way. Hawksbill still has the same relaxed vibe and the staff are amazing. There are many many improvements such as the infinity pool, extended verandas on the bungalows, AC and wi-fi in every room and a much improved food service, including a breakfast egg-station, and a proper Full English Breakfast (just need some HP Sauce to make it perfect!). There is also a new lunchtime restaurant called PD's Grill in the old "Great House" and what amazing views over the ocean! Never went hungry or thirsty as they are VERY generous with the all-inclusive service, and drinking water is now provided. Plenty of sun-loungers, no need to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve a bed (a really big plus for me!). The bungalows are still a little dated but are in the process of being decorated and furniture replaced, but as before the beds and pillows are amazing, the best beds we have ever slept in, and let's face it that is the most important aspect of a hotel room. We will definitely be back! Read less

We arrived shortly after the site re-opened after some serious updates so there was still some ongoing work happening and we were apprehensive. Our expectations were not high being a 3* resort, but we'd heard lots of good things from previous visitors and we wanted the resort for its location, amazing beaches and reportedly good customer service. We were very pleasantly surprised, it exceeded our expectations on all counts. We'd previously stayed at St.James (4*) resort twice, and felt like 'just another' guest with sometimes begrudging service. At Hawksbill everyone was genuinely wanting to make sure we were happy and enjoying ourselves. The beaches are amazing (and quite different) giving opportunity for relative privacy if you wanted it. The new Infinity pool is a great addition, we spent a lot of time in or around it. There isn't an a-la-carte menu as such, but the quality and selection of evening buffets was super, with a mix of local dishes and more traditional foods. Lunchtime there is a choice of the Sea Grapes restaurant of PDs bar/grill which has limited capacity but great location. We enjoyed both. Breakfast in the main restaurant was also good, again with some local food options and the traditional breakfast items. The Egg station for fresh omelettes etc. was my favourite. Our Room was a Beach Club bungalow on Royal Palm beach (107 2nd one in from PDs end of the beach). The room was recently decorated, had good air-conditioning, fridge and large bathroom. The shower was ok (had better and had much worse before) and the provided shower gell, shampoo was a good quality (not cheap). Being on the beach you can hear the lapping of the waves (which we loved) and step out to your own private loungers. One of the beaches at the far end of the resort (Eden) is a clothing optional beach, which I finally dared to try on our last day, and really enjoyed, it's plenty large enough to be relatively private and didn't feel weird at all. I shall give this another go next year. There was still work ongoing during our stay but it didn't really affect our time there, I just felt sorry for the poor chaps working in that heat, but again they were all happy and pleasant. We met many other visitors who are regulars there, one couple have been going since their honeymoon 42 years ago, and many of the staff are long serving too, which has to mean something doesn't it. We intend to revisit next year. I would name specific staff members who were memorable, but honestly they all were and I can't remember all their names. Lastly there is a Facebook group 'Hawksbill Resort Antigua' that is managed independently from the resort (although they contribute sometimes) where you can get advice and feedback from people there and the regular visitors, well worth referring to as you can ask specific questions. Image of the Tripadvisor rating New owner oversells resort & cancels reservation days before arrival

Nov 29, 2023 Cindy_Louer Toronto, Canada

Don't rely on a reservation here. The new owner of Hawksbill oversells the resort. They cancelled our reservation four days prior to our scheduled arrival. We booked and fully paid two months ahead of time. They made no offer to repair the situation. Avoid, unless you don't mind scrambling at the 11th hour to hatch a back-up holiday plan.
