Jolly Beach hotel has some serious work to do … it needs some overdue reno’s to washrooms, pool areas and rooms. We recently visited Jolly beach and stayed in a Super Saver room … they call it a Super Saver for good reason … it is small … in fact the smallest room we have ever stayed in … 10 x 12 including the bathroom … no desk … no chair … no dresser … just a small closet … that’s it … be prepared to live out of your suitcase …. That’s what we did and it worked just fine … btw hot water and water pressure were abundant Given those comments you would think we were disappointed … we were not … we did our research and came into this with our eyes wide open …. the price we paid was comparable to a three star in Mexico or the Dominican and we got so much more … Antigua has some of the most beautiful hotels of any Caribbean island and for good reason …. It’s paradise … we have been to many fancy opulent resorts and have had just as much fun here at the Jolly Staff at the Jolly beach club are outstanding … no matter where we were on the property we’re thrilled with the smiles, conversations and service we received .. big shoutout to Kendra, Delicia, Marisa and Chef Nigel in the restaurant… bartenders Katie and Ricardo … also to front lobby staff … always willing to help ou Food was great the entire week utilizing two restaurants one a buffet and the other an alacarte as well as a daytime bbq … Bbq was excellent and buffet great although somewhat limited … the alacart rotated two menus mostly Italian (my personal favourite lasagna) but included steak and fish … everything we had was excellent thanks to the talented chefs Antigua is extremely safe and easy to travel around with this hotel in easy access to many sites .. it’s easy to take the public busses being only about $2 USD a ride … might be a little hot but worth the experience .. get lost? Ask someone … the locals are very friendly and helpful Jolly beach itself is one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see surrounded by mountains and turquoise waters with your feet in powder white sand you can’t help but sigh … Antigua boasts 365 beaches and Jolly is certainly in the top 5 So … if you are looking for a great Caribbean holiday and don’t care about fancy but you do care about atmosphere and beach time then Jolly beach is for you … Jolly beach club might be a 3 but Joly beach is certainly a 5+!! We were pleasantly surprised how wonderful our stay was at this hotel after reading quite a number of very negative reviews. We did upgrade to a superior king room on the back of these reviews and it had everything we needed. Bed was amazingly comfy, a/c good, fridge we did have to unplug at night as quite noisy and bathroom met our needs. They provide 2 bars of soap and tubes of shampoo and conditioner that is enough for 2 people to last a week. There is 1 UK plug socket in the room and 1 European so good idea to bring an extension lead to save using adapters. No problem in getting fresh towels and toilet paper if need it and we enjoyed the privacy of not having the room cleaned. The buffet food was of high quality and normally plenty of choice if you don’t leave it too late to eat. In fact we preferred the buffet to the Pizza Factory. The cocktail menu was vast and they’ll always mix anything for you. The perfect end to our day on the beach was watching the amazing sunsets with a cocktail at the long bar! As everyone else has mentioned the beach is beautiful and during our stay there was always a choice of sun beds, probably the only hotel I have stayed at where you don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve your beds! Staff were all amazing, I couldn’t fault their friendly service. There is a tours desk and the staff are very helpful when booking excursions. Evening entertainment was a steel band one night, a great singer another and a DJ for the rest of the week. There was always a reason to get up and dance! Please give this hotel a chance, as long as you go with 3star expectations you won’t be disappointed. In our view for the price you pay compared to other hotels, you are getting great value for money. Read less

We loved Antigua and jolly Beach. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were not pleased with our first room due to location and were moved to a different room on our second day. The room was very clean and comfortable and the view was great. We only used the large pool which was very clean (although at first appearance the bottom needs to be repainted). There are lots of available seats around the pool. The pool bar staff are very friendly and will make blender drinks. The snack bar food is delicious with our favourite being the jerk chicken. The Beach is beautiful white sand and well kept. There are lots of chairs and umbrellas available. There are a few market huts on the beach to purchased gifts - tshirts, hats, jewellery etc. there are some vendors that approached you on the beach but if you are not interested they don’t bother you. The food at the resort was very good - always a good supply and variety and a different theme each night. The ala carte “The Pizza Factory” provided good options and the food was delicious and service very good. We went there 2 nights for dinner - you have to make reservations in the morning at 7am - we never had a problem booking but the resort was not full. The entertainment each night was different types of music and bands including a steel band. It was located at the lobby garden or at the Long Bar. Perfect listening while enjoying a cocktail. We did one day trip booked through Sunwing called the Shelly Jay Jeep tour which is actually not a jeep but a van which was perfect as a jeep would have been hot and dusty. The tour took us to key points of interest around the island including Devil’s Bridge, Shirley Heights, Betty Hope sugar cane factory, Nelson’s Dockyard and we stopped for a delicious authentic lunch at a local restaurant - it was a perfect trip and we highly recommend it to see the Island. Shelly Jay was very friendly and gave us a good history of the key sights and the island and we enjoyed this tour very much. Read less

Beach was the best again. Hotel was better than 10 years ago. Pool & bar food shut. Pool was drained and workers started on chipping tiles away causing dust everywhere. I understand that work needs to be done but we should have been notified before going.
