Some unfriendly staff, noisy music in bar & lounge areas, FILTHY roofed-in food-court area near the restaurants - bird droppings on the furniture & all over the floor, towels reserving sunbeds by the pool, dodgy hygiene (especially with salads, only partially covered) at the Outhouse BBQ restaurant up the hill - need I go on? Although we had a day-pass allowing us to stay till 6-30pm, we'd had enough by about 2pm & left. Read less

Could not recommend this hotel enough if you are looking for an authentic 4 star hotel with a classic Caribbean setting. The feel and vibe of the hotel is so friendly. The staff go over and above to ensure you have a good stay. Definitely go to the Outhouse for lunch.

The staff are polite and cheerful - nothing is too much trouble - the beach is clean with plenty of loungers. The all inclusive menu is of a really high standard, with plenty of fresh food and lots of choice. As a coeliac it is important for me to be able to eat safely - no problem here as long as you are sensible. It would have been nice to have a dessert option but that was good for the waistline! We are going back this year, and this time, upgrading to the waterfront! Can't wait to go back. Read less

I did a lot of research before I selected this resort and was looking for old Caribbean charm of a small adult resort with a friendly feel and that is exactly what we got. We traveled the first week in January and it was a perfect way to start the year. A lot of the people we met at this resort were repeat visitors, which says a lot about the resort. Antigua is an amazing safe island with wonderful friendly people and spectacular views. We did Shirley Heights on Sunday and enjoyed this fun family night with tourists and locals alike. We did the all day Extreme excursion and had a great time with Captain Toby and his crew. Lots of great touring and views of the island and snorkling in the crystal clear waters with the stingrays. The room we had was a quaint small room with two beds that worked out ok as we were traveling with our son, a little tight but we didn't spend a lot of time in our room. The room was always spotless with plenty of towels and a view of the ocean, even though we had a garden room on 2nd floor with a lovely porch to sit and enjoy the view. of the beautiful gardens. The porch was the walk way for other guest, but we found everyone so friendly and enjoyed saying good morning and meeting new people. The staff at this resort were all wonderful. Always had a smile and were willing to stop and talk or be helpful in any way possible. We knew going in the Resort took the environment very seriously and I was very happy to help by reusing the water bottles they gave us. There was water stations all over the resort and we were never without. The food was enjoyable and varied and always available. Loved the trek to the Outhouse and the amazing food and views. There are a lot of birds around the tables, but you cannot have an open air eating area without having birds. The food at the buffet was well covered and we never found a problem with the food. Numerous staff were constantly keeping the trays filled and protected. The resort is located on a lovely crescent beach with amazing white sand with lots of chairs although sometimes not enough shaded areas. The Atlantic ocean was a bit rough at times, but we swam every day and enjoyed the floating rings. The hotel supplies lots of things to do and we were never board. The evenings were lots of fun with really good entertainment and great bars with wonderful interactive staff that were very friendly. The lounge area is very intimate that encouraged you to make friends and enjoy the evening with fun and games. This hotel is an older hotel with a lot of charm. If you are looking for lots of new and shiny with luxurious bathrooms and large rooms, you might be disappointed. But if you are looking for a relaxing quieter vacation this is the place. We loved this holiday and was very sad to leave. Can't wait to return for our next vacations. Read less

I stayed at this hotel from December 29, 2019 to January 12, 2020. After a long flight from Montreal I was shocked to see such a small reception area when checking in - no air conditioning or lobby. Checked into room which only had one bed when we requested two beds. There were ants in the room for two weeks despite having room sprayed, Most people working in the hotel were unfriendly, No water/soft drinks in mini bar. Had to buy water for two weeks - not impressive, The worst situation was the buffet area - very small selection of food - unable to eat some meals. Food was always out in the open in the heat for hours including lettuce, cheeses, meats, dressings. Birds were always on the serving spoons. Very unhealthy and unsanitary, When I told the staff about the birds no one seemed to care. Seemed normal to them to see birds on the food but the staff do not eat the buffet food. Ended up having to eat at snack bar which only serves fast food like hamburger, hot dogs, fries and sandwiches. The food waqs good but I ddid not pay all that money to eat junk food, On the other hand, we had the best room in the hotel with the biggest balcony I ever saw with two huge lawn chairs, We sat every night and watched the sun settle in the mountains, The beach was not as long as I expectecd. The hotel is on the atlantic side of the island so some days you could not go into the water due to excessive waves. The property was extremely clean - grounds crew always cleaning. Housekeeping was excellent with lots of towels, Lots of entertainment during day and night. Water sports crew were very friendly and helpful You can go out kayaking every day and also on the hobie cat. New Years Eve bash was the best beach patrty I have evern seen - lots of good food and music and fireworks. It was my sisters 60th birthday on New Years Eve so the fire works were extra special (just for her!!!). Shout out fo Vernea for all her assistande with our problems, Shout out of Kevin for assistance in helping my sister with special dietary needs, Shout out to Athena for being extra friendly. We will not forget you. Will not be returning to hotel anytime soon Read less
