Every time we visit we find little enhancements (Sometimes big enhancements) This revue is being written to celebrate our having just completed our booking for Jan 2021.In these difficult times it is something to look forward to.We know that we will not be disappointed.Lastly but not least you will find the friendliness of the management at the resort and at Elite Island resorts HQ incomparable (cheers John Cather! First visit was in late 1988 when there were less than 100 rooms. Over the years we have returned several times to both Pineapple and St James but had a break of about 8 years before our most recent trip in 2019. We wondered why we ever went anywhere else. The resort had grown significantly in terms of rooms but the ambiance and staff retained everything we remembered. Rob Barret, president of Elite Island Resorts initially developed PBC in the 80's and then sold it to a Spanish or Mexican group in the late 90's. On the proceeds he acquired a controlling interest in St James and Galley Bay and introduced the same attitudes and ambience to those. Pineapple eventually became part of Sandals but they deemed it too small for further investment and Rob and Elite re-acquired it about 5 years ago. Since then they have invested huge amounts in renovating everything and have contibuted that during the Covid shutdown. The previous owners had completely changed the pineapple color scheme to much more striking colors but when we were back in 2019 almost everything had been returned to the original peaceful colors. The staff and grounds are as fabulous as ever. My wife once described pulling into Pineapple like Oz and Kansas in the Wizard of OZ. The Outhouse was originally built, if thats the right word, from materials recovered after a hurricane. Rustic does not come close but seats were made from a framework of PVC tube and sacking. At one time there was a horseshoe pit cut into the side of a hill. Beer coke and hot dogs were all that was available but it was the most amazing place to end the afternoon. Its come a long way since then with paved paths and more substantial furniture but the food and views cant be matched anywhere. Rob Barret sets the tone for everything. You may come across him anywhere at any of the resorts doing all sorts of things that you would not expect him to be doing such as pruning plants. He once said that he set out to provide amenities for people to enjoy themselves but not to force them to do it. You can be as busy or as lazy as you want. It truly is a vacation that re-charges you. We had to cancel our 2020 trip because of Covid-19 but just re-scheduled to arrive April 26th, 2021 and the airline schedule is "forcing" us to stay an extra day. Our trip also coincides with Sailing week and that is a bonus. For anyone visiting Shirley Heights for sunset on Sunday or Thursday with the steel band and barbecue is something not to be missed. We still go every time we visit and prefer Sundays although it does get very crowded. Its just unique and an amazing view. Read less

My husband and I had the chance to spend a week at the Pineapple Beach Club last February before the world shut down because of COVID-19. From the time we were picked up at the airport till the till we were dropped back off to the airport, We had an amazing time. The resort staff are wonderful and do everything they can to make your stay a pleasant and unforgettable one. We had a room facing the gardens which are kept up beautifully (there hamacs under the coconut trees for naps or just some quiet time). Our room was very clean and comfortable (thank you to the ladies from housekeeping). The beach is absolutely gorgeous with white sand and turquoise water. The kitchen staff clearly work very hard to produce a wide variety food to suit any taste or dietary requirements. We really enjoyed the theme buffets, as well as our dinners at Chef Pietro’s restaurant and the Pineapple Grill. The dining room staff were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you to the bar staff for all those wonderful cocktails. The resort is perfect for couples and for families (with kids 16 and over). There are activities for every taste, from beach volleyball to a garden tour to nature hikes to trivia competitions. There is also nightly entertainment every night (we enjoyed the reggae band). We booked our tours via VIATOR prior to arrival, but there is a tour desk at the resort. Do not book tours with vendors on the beach, they are not with the resort and will rip you off. The only down side is the wifi which can be quite spotty. On the day you leave, make sure you eat before leaving the resort as the food at the airport is obscenely priced and really lacklustre. Thanks again to Pineapple Beach Club for a great, sun filled vacation. We hope to come back with our children next time. Read less
