The best way I can describe our experience at Sandals Antigua was disappointing. From the pick up at the airport to the check in at the resort. The staff was anything but friendly and welcoming. It felt like they were doing us a favor. When we asked for assistance with making dinner reservations they said you can call from your room we are too busy. Food and drink selection was TERRIBLE. Everyday they were out of something. My travel agent sent an email and the response was let us know a week before they come again. Have no fear we will never go back to Sandals. I have shared my experience with everyone I know. The lack of customer service, food, and drinks was completely appalling. Go to a resort where customers are valued. Don't waste your money or you valuable time on Sandals! Read less

My wife and I stayed for 10 days in September at Sandals Grande Antigua. This was our 2nd visit to this hotel over 7 years apart and unfortunately the standard has certainly dropped. The health screening at the airport went fairly smoothly and we were on our way to the hotel within about 45 minutes of landing. No lounge or welcome drink at the airport due to Covid restrictions. A quick further temperature check on arrival and we were given a welcome drink in the club lounge. Check-in was with an Ipad mini and seemed straight forward but the information did not save and we ended up doing the electronic check-in again the next day.First the positives, we were taken to our room by a bright and bubbly young lady called Angel who was very friendly and pointed out quite a lot of the facilities of the resort from the 6th floor lobby area. We had a lovely room on the 6th floor of the Mediterranean side of the complex with very nice views over the main pool to the ocean. The mini-bar was well stocked and replenished every day. We found the bed comfortable and the bathroom was large and had all the amenities you would need. The weather while we were there was great and we had a good break, it was just limited in its quality, which was not what we were expecting as we had a fabulous stay here about 7 years ago. Read less

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sandals Antigua. They assured all of our needs were met. I am a vegan but was able to eat hardy as the chef's took very good care of me. We will definitely be back again and again.

For those doing research on here I will try and be brief but provide as much information as I can. To summarize a too long, didnt read, this place is amazing from the service from all staff members, the food quality, cleanliness, and just about every aspect of a relaxing vacation that you may be looking for. I had tried to breakdown as much information as I could so to be give some insight on the trip. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We stayed in HS Caribbean Honeymoon Seaside Butler Suite (there is a Caribbean and Mediterranean side of the resort). The butlers were absolutely amazing and will take care of everything you need, such as pool or beach morning set-up, all reservations for meals and activities, making sure your room is stocked and anything else you may want to request. Since you can request specific butlers, we had the pleasure of having Vakesha (Ms. V), Wendell and Neil - when we go back (not an if) we hope that they are all available. The butler service is obviously something that costs more but bang for buck my wife and I found it very much worth it and we are more on the "we dont want to bother you side". The food was really great in my opinion and since I was more of a cruise person it would be like comparing frozen pizza to regular pizza, you simply cant and Sandals really hit it on the head there. The place is absolutely clean - note, they do have some cats around there but they are super friendly and checked in on by a professional so this is more of an allergy PSA. The cons: I really only have two and one of them is just a difference between cruise and this. (1) While the beach is amazing the people selling stuff on there can be a little pushy, sadly one day it was too much and i just sat with my headphones on listening to nothing just so I wasnt bothered. They do have nice stuff and its great for easy buys if you need gifts and whatnot but if you are a sit and relax person your relaxing will be interrupted. However, there were also plenty of people who simply walked by made eye contact and kept going if you didnt say anything. Be careful buying any palm hats, bowls, etc. because these need to dry for customs (they dont tell you that). (2) As a cruise person there is always access to food, so even with the butler service you will still be waiting a little for it, i only mention this as a planning process not as a true con. We will be back to either this Sandals or another location. Read less

We stayed mid Sept, this being our first Sandals hotel and first time to Antigua, after only booking a month before traveling. After reading the Trip Advisor reviews I was ready for cancelling as people made it sound like a tacky cheap rate holiday camp. I'm glad I decided to follow the fans page on Facebook, as the reviews seemed to be more factual and honest. We totally took the Covid impact in to consideration and were expecting some things to be less or dumbed down, but how surprised we were. Firstly the rooms, we stayed in the Caribbean beach front in the Frangipani building. They're not modern, but are clean and tasteful but in need of some TLC, but the payback is the view!! We had room service every day without fail, and turn down every night, the mini bar was topped up daily without fail. Another point raised quite often by previous guests were the staff & vendors, we didn't have an issue with either. we were only approached twice during our 10 days stay by the vendors, and they were friendly and moved on when we advised not interested. the staff, again never came across any that were rude, some less talkative than others, but that's not a Sandals or Antigua thing, its just a human thing! we manged to get in every single restaurant at the time we wanted, just be flexible on when you want to do them. The hotel itself is stunning, the grounds are fabulous and the beach is out of this world. Is this the kind of 5 star hotel you'd expect to find in Vegas or Dubai no its not, but it is charmingly Island style and has the mood and vibe to go with it. We considered ourselves fortunate enough to be able to travel to such a beautiful place amid a recovering/ongoing pandemic and treated every minute as such. We have even booked a return stay. do your research, read between the lines on the reviews and enjoy! Read less
