We stayed in one of the very expensive suites at the hotel so we were aware of the extremes in the hotel when it came to price. But what we were not ready for was how mediocre everything was. From the food (not one place was considered amazing) to lackluster service from hotel Personal to the lack of hours the gym was available. This place pails to even an average hotel in Miami. Also be on your guard with every interaction with local vendors as they will try to hustle you and defraud you at every turn. Again very common in touristy places but just keep your guard up. We made good memories as a family here but stear clear of this hotel at all cost if your coming to the Bahamas Read less

We requested a refrigerator when we checked in but never received it. I was told they are in the process of putting them in all rooms, though—-which is much needed. If you like a mega resort, this is the place for you. The Beach Club was the highlight of our trip, and a nice escape from the crowded resort. I have heard about challenges with billing errors from numerous others and was hoping I would be lucky in that regard, but there was an erroneous charge on my bill that I was told would be removed and wasn’t. The front desk told me it would be removed two days before I left and I was told that again (when it still appeared on my bill) when I checked out, but I am skeptical. I will have to contact Hyatt if I am billed for it. Read less

I expected a lot more from my family’s experience at the Baha Mar than we got. Overall I couldn’t wait to leave. It’s a luxury resort, so it’s beautifully kept and maintained. But with that luxury comes steep prices. I was prepared somewhat, but the inflated prices for everything, combined with the service charges and taxes and fees makes this place really expensive. For examples… three ice cream cones by the beach came to $30. A simple lunch at Umami Burger of two burgers, one order of fries, one order of Mac n cheese and two sodas was about $100. Dinner for three at Stixx (three entrees and one boba tea) was $120. I had sticker shock everywhere we went. The only meal we ate the entire trip (4 nights) that was delicious was at Marcus’. Everything else was blah, overrated, and unimpressive. A word on Marcus’… those guys are great! For our first dinner there, my daughter desperately wanted crab legs, but they weren’t on the menu. We asked if they could possibly accommodate it - zero pressure - but they said yes! And the crab legs they brought to our table were the largest I’ve ever seen. My daughter was thrilled! While gratuity is included across the resort, we did tip generously to the two guys serving us because their service was truly impeccable. I wish I could remember their names! Next up, service. I don’t know why this is, but it was just a fact that only men who served us were friendly. We had great service from guys at Marcus’, Katsuya, and Sugar Factory. But every single female we came into contact with was generally rude. I consider myself a very friendly person, and I always started every interaction with a genuine smile and “how are you today?” Every question or request for assistance I made to a female - with the exception of one person, which I’ll get to - was met with outright annoyance or contempt. This included checking in for dinner reservations, calling guest services for wash clothes when there were none, asking for help settling an incorrect dinner charge, and more. I left this trip completely exhausted by rude encounters. Biggest advice is to watch your charges DAILY. We asked for help when a dinner charged to our room somehow changed from $126 originally to $200. The girl at the front desk rudely stated to call Sugar Factory directly because “we can’t help you.” We called them as instructed that evening and spoke with their GM, supposedly. He took our information and asked us to call him again the following morning. When we did, he said he had fixed it and it would take “a couple of hours” to show the adjustment. That evening I stopped by the front desk when it was still not appearing correctly on our tally. The girl at the front desk was obviously annoyed with me, because she responded that she could see “a notation on the account” but wouldn’t print anything for me or even say she was sorry for the issue. Yet today when we went to check-out, it was still wrong, and I was told there was actually no notation on our account! This is where I will express gratitude for Hadassah at the front desk for acknowledging our frustration and getting the charge removed upon allowance by her manager. I sincerely appreciate this decision because I was left with a terrible impression and feeling of being scammed. I understand mistakes happen, but this felt more sinister, especially when I was made to feel like a nuisance for asking for assistance. Hadassah was friendly, respectful, and showed great customer service. Thank you! It’s obvious that the grounds crew works hard because the place is beautiful. The beach is lovely. The water park is fantastic. But there is not much in the way of complimentary amenities, considering you have to pay a hefty resort fee every day. We did enjoy the flamingo parade and aviary, but due to the weather we weren't able to take advantage of the water equipment. I’ve never before left a trip feeling more stressed out than I was before I went, but this experience showed me it is possible. From being on edge due to rude people and feeling like I had to take photos of our receipt everywhere I went, it just wasn’t a great feeling. It’s very disappointing. Read less

We normally vacation at Atlantis. Saw them building Baha mar years ago on the way to Atlantis. Heard it was open and decided to take the kids since we frequently travel to the Bahamas. The hotel appears nice when you arrive. However, in my opinion it’s a cheap version of Atlantis. The vibe is bad, nothing for kids to do and with the exception of the front desk, Ebony, the rest of the entire hotel staff are rude, disinterested and unhelpful. Fortunately, Ebony did not charge us an early departure fee and we were able to book Atlantis at the last minute, which cost us an additional 3k but it ultimately saved our vacation. The food at the hotel is garbage. It's about 1/3 more expensive than Atlantis. I don’t mind spending $$$ on food, after all you are in paradise but the $1200 for the first day was totally not worth it. The fine dining is a watered down version of anything remotely decent. No music or entertainment at the pools. The atmosphere is just dead. Feels like a money grab as a result of the bankruptcy troubles they had during construction. It feels like they opened the doors just to recoup some of that 3 billion dollars. If you don’t like atmosphere, hospitality, kid friendliness or saving money then Baha Mar is your thing. Sam.
