Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort & Offshore Island

Nassau, Bahamas

The hotel

As if this hotel wasn't luxurious enough already, the recent renovations have taken Sandals Royal Bahamian to another level - and they're ready to welcome you back to experience everything new they have to offer. The swim-up suites are the standout room type at this property, allowing you to step right from the comfort of your room straight into a gently flowing river pool with views of the ocean ahead. The Island Village offers privacy and romance and; as with all Sandals properties; the butler service will leave you not having to lift a finger. The real highlight of this Sandals hotel is the private offshore island - just jump on a Love runner and you'll be there in 5 minutes. It's basically a resort in itself, complete with beach club, pool, swim-up bar and spa experiences. Paradise: found and included. When you are feeling a bit more adventurous, there are a host of activities included in your stay so you can work up an appetite. You'll be spoilt for choice when you do get hungry though, with 10 gourmet restaurants and 2 food trucks - you'll have to make sure you stay long enough to ensure you try them all!

stayed in west bay honeymoon club level oversized junior suite HG rooms had been updated with phone charging points in the bedside lamps beautiful light sunny room which was immaculate. comfortable bed and pillows. food at sandals as always was plentiful and delicious and no problem making reservations. easy to get sun loungers both at the resort and the island the island has a restaurant and bar and swimming pool and the ferry goes throughout the day. no matter what time we went we could always get loungers. hubby went diving most days and i think it was probably one of his favorite resorts for diving, entertainment was good and we met some fabulous people whilst there who we have kept in touch with. We took the local no.10 bus into Nassau from SRB (catch from across the road from the post office) on the main road takes about 20 mins. We visited Parliament square The Queen Victoria statue The Queens staircase Government House Fort Fincastle walked down bay street We went straight after breakfast about 8.30am and back at the hotel by about 1pm. A lovely morning learning some local history and the locals were so friendly and helpful. we loved it so much that we are returning in july this year for a week and the on to sandals emerald bay for a week which we are taking as our free week can’t blooming wait !!!!!!! We just got back from our first trip to a Sandals on Thursday. We had a lovely time at SRB. That being said, the path to a great time is having realistic expectations and setting yourself up for success so I wanted to share a couple tips for those heading there for your first time as well: 1.) Do not hold off on eating and head into meals starving. We always got sat right at our reservation time, but service was slow at almost all restaraunts. However, this probably will only bother you if you’re hangry. I made that mistake night one. Every night thereafter I snacked accordingly and had lovely experiences. *Bonus- our butlers who took us to dinner also always got us our first drink from the bar personally. At first I thought that escorting us to dinner was unnecessary, but the set up of the first drink was wonderful knowing the service times from the prior night. **Special shout out to the best butler team! JACKIE, PAULA and KENDRICK- You were exactly what we didn’t know we needed! 2.) If bugs tend to be attracted to you in general and you are going to do the candlelight dinner on the beach, WEAR PANTS! My husband was fine, but I was eaten alive by sand flies. 3.). Housekeeping was hit and miss. If something was missed that day, simply call. Don’t stew. 4.) There was a mildewy smell on the first floor of the West Bay building. But what do you expect when the resort you’re at focuses on people coming in wet from the pool or beach? Give some grace. 5.) Do yourself a favor and get a massage on the private island and hear the waves crashing on the rocks in the open breeze. Well worth the splurge! 6.) Even though there are bars open late at the resort, people are rarely at them late. People seem to party hard during the day and go to sleep early so be prepared. If you’re looking for activities at night, it is a short cab ride to the casino at Baha Mar. Be prepared to pay $20 for a single drink there though. Yikes! 7.) Use the free water crafts. Don’t be intimidated by them and simply ask for guidance from the aqua center staff. Those people are living their best life! People don’t use them enough in my opinion and it’s one of the biggest perks as they are onsite and don’t require a huge time investment to take out. We especially enjoyed the Hobie Cat. 8.) Service is hit and miss but other honorable mentions for outstanding service go to Soney @ the aqua center, Gabriel @ the beach bar, Christopher @ Kanoo, Chardonnay (sp?) @ the private island bar and our driver to and from the airport, Keyno! I hope this was helpful. Have a great trip! Read less

We went to the Sandals Royal Bahamian for our honeymoon. We spent 5 nights at the resort and had an amazing time. We chose this resort because Nassau is a very easy place to visit (quicker flights, nonstop flights, good airport, easy to get around). We had a private room in the villa with a private backyard pool. I would give 5+ for the room, the villa, and the butler experience. Derron and Dhanni were our butlers and we are so lucky they were the ones with us. They were each very professional while also being chill for us. They made sure we were relaxed, adapted to any changes we had, and were always quick to help with any needs we have. I don't know the other butlers here, but I'd say they were the best haha! Housekeeping crew (we have Paulette) was also awesome - kept our room very clean, and kept us fresh on towels, etc. And she was very nice each time we happened to see her at the room in the morning or afternoon. Can't speak to how this resort would be without a butler room though, because it is a smaller resort with a small beach area, and the restaurants weren't necessarily crowded but they were busy - we just fortunately had our butlers to help with getting us to our dinner reservation, and helping getting us a spot on the beach. ALSO, the massage on the beach - 10/10 as well. Big thanks to Derron and Dhanni for making this the perfect honeymoon. Read less

My wife and I have stayed at several Sandals locations to including twice at Grande St. Lucian, once at Regency La Toc, Saint Lucia, Grenada and now the Royal Bahamian. Last week we paid for our 38th anniversary at the Royal Bahamian, arriving May 11, 2024 through May 18th, 2024. I made sure we were getting an ocean front room in the ocean front building. Our room was 311. If you examine the sales brochure, count 3 up from the bottom of their key building and 2 back. That is 311. Obviously we had prior great experiences or we would not have gone back. Unfortunately, that is where the positive ends. I do not want to bash the staff but their leadership is absolutely weak. Four points: 1. First: We arrived after dealing with the Airport stuff about 14:00 EST. We were told to hang out at the pool area and they would call my cell when our room was ready. OK, no problem. Until it became close to 18:00. We had shown a place to change our street close to pool wear. Credit to my wife for packing our suites to be easily assessable. After 18:00, I went BACK to the front desk and inquired about our room. 20 minutes later a "hostess" who appeached us and apologized about our room not being ready. Got to our room about 18:30. Room service was the only option at this point. 2. Second misinformation: We had received a notice that "construction" would occurring during our say already reserved for the dates of May 11, 2024 through May 18th, 2024. Our response was to just change locations. After SEVERAL calls and a final answer, we were told any construction would not be occurring during our stay dates. I asked for a conformation and was told Sandals would not provide that but not to worry. Big mistake - get everything in writing! Think of a huge steel hammer driving pole relentlessly non stop just out side your door. I will try to attach videos but if that does not work, just see other reviews. 3. Third: Prior to arrival, I asked if business style suit were required for any of the restaurants. "No Mr. ' vacation casual is fine." Double asked if dress shorts and a polo type shirt would be acceptable. Absolutely! I was denied entrance to both Sandals Steak House and French restaurants. No one ever acknowledged having denying this or any apology. FYI - I think you get the same steak at the Italian place and for lunch at Calin lunch, 4. Room cleaning: We were there for 7 nights. I had to request room cleaning 4 nights in a row. To give the Manager credit, she left our room the 4th time apologizing and looking like she would make things right. Not done. Overall, what a disappointment. Last time. Read less

We had a wonderful time and there is a little bit of everything at this Sandals resort. Great assortment of restaurants to choose from and we did not have a meal that we did not thoroughly enjoy. Unlike a couple of Sandals that we have been too, the concierge was able to get us reservations at the higher end restaurants without a problem. We are beach people that like it quiet and in the shade. That option resides mostly at the Sandals' island which is a short boat ride away. The beach chairs at the resort and not on the island that are covered are more limited and primarily taken by the guests that have butlers. There are two big pools that give you variety. One of the pools has more entertainment and music while the other pool is as big but is quieter. May is a good month to go as weather is similar to that of southern Florida and is before it gets too hot although we had some pretty warm days. We were told that some guests come in December and January expecting much warmer weather than what it is in the Bahamas but are told it starts to warm up starting after that. The rooms were clean, up to date and modern although they could have been vacuumed more than what they were. There are a few people that were exceptional in making our experience five star and I would like to call them out. Sandra in the Club Room, Hanna in concierge and Anna who was a jack of all trades that went over and above for us in everything she did. Anna was a true rock star. Esther was always a smiling face while serving us in the restaurant as well. Read less
