We landed as the royal, and our bags were kept there for hours, until we stoped at the bel and had to suplicate for help and stayed for one more hour there, to get the bags. Front desk did nothing to help. There is nobody at the front desk at night.

The staff was friendly and helpful. Property was beautiful. There’s a great variety of cuisine/restaurants. There’s different activities on site for adults and children. I will definitely be back. The reef resort/paradise island was exactly what I needed. I came back home and relaxed.

Our recent stay at The Reef turned into a nightmare. It started with arriving at 8 PM and having to wait TWO HOURS in the lobby to check in after a long day of travel with multiple flight delays. There was only one worker and the people in front of us had an issue with checking in so we waited all night to get into our room around 11 PM. Not to mention, we booked and paid for an ocean view prior to arrival and they put us in garden view and made us pay for an upgrade that we already paid for. Half of the resort is closed including activities and restaurants and you will spend hours riding the shuttle or walking to find something open because the staff has no idea what is open and will send you all over the place. My husband tested positive for Covid the day before our planned return to the US. They ensured us that we would be contacted with information regarding what to know and do. NOONE reached out to us or would answer the phone for 2 days! We sat in the room unknowingly for 2 days until someone finally answered at the front desk. The hotel and the ministry of health are not on the same page regarding quarantine rules. The hotel manager said he could leave the room on day 5 according to CDC guidelines, so he left the room and was checked out/couldn’t get back in. When he went to the front desk, they argued that he was supposed to be checked out and leaving. They wouldn’t let him back in the room. They called security on him who then threatened arresting him because the ministry of health requires 10 days. No one called to check on him, provide him with necessities, or even answer the front desk phone for days! I finally was able to get in touch with the quality assurance office when I called the main Atlantis number to file a grievance. Forget ever getting in contact with The Reef staff. They charged us full price to stay for 10 more days although they previously told us prior to arrival that their Covid policy included a distressed rate. The rapid test was free but the PCR was $415.00. The only pros- the beach is beautiful, multiple pools Other cons- no access to beach lounge chairs unless you go super early because they will all be reserved, long waits for shuttles because they may be full and you have to wait for the next one, pools close at 5 so there is nothing to do unless you want to gamble, restaurants on site are super expensive but have nice portion sizes. Image of the Tripadvisor rating Warning - Covid tests every 48 hours ruin your vacation and Reef won’t pay for all your tests!

Can’t spend this much on a vacation only to have it ruined by a Covid test every 48 hours! So every two days you can’t plan an excursion because it’s a testing day? Rediculous! We wanted to play golf a couple of those days - testing was scheduled right in the middle of the day!!! Can’t buy excursions ahead of time because you’re worried someone in your party will test positive (maybe falsely).. And then the Reef only pays for two tests per room —- TERRIBLE!! I couldn’t relax the whole trip and now they make me pay for some of the unnecessary testing ? Read less
