Stayed for 3 weeks in Nov/Dec - seriously gone down hill since I last stayed 4 years ago. Good - location (beach), pool (huge), cocktails (Frank is a star), lovely women who cook eggs at breakfast, and the service at the Accra Deck restuarant. Bad - customer service - started with my room not ready on arrival (evening), left for an hour, I had to chase. Ended with requesting late checkout - fobbed off with excuses & eventually got 30 minutes. Hospitality suite - poor decor, mismatching furniture and no water. Also beach/pool towels - ran out every day & thought that it was acceptable to tell guests to go to the front desk to 'see if they have any' when they ran out - I think the staff can go to the front desk..... Room - shabby, tired decor - fan didn't work, reported then it turned so slowly it was no use. AC dripped on tiled floor (dangerous) reported it but nothing done. Bathroom very tired with the shabby shower controls. Room had damp, musty smell. There was a reason why it was cheaper than others - refurbishment going on so check if room has been updated recently and rooms at the back ('island view) are noisy - close to the road. Food - Breakfast - now very poor - not the lovely experience I remembered. Meals in resturant OK but several items on the menu 'not available/wrong time of year' so why not change the menu?! Finally - I have sent all of this (and more) by email to the hotel management who apologised and promised a refund but...guess what...it never arrived. Read less

Firstly, the location is great and the quality of the food served was good. We stayed for a week on an all inclusive basis, but found the service in both bars and restaurant very slow - an hour to prepare and serve a pizza! Staff in the bars, appeared nonchalant and more interested in chatting amongst themselves rather than engage with the customer. The organisation in the restaurant appeared to be haphazard with insufficient room for all the people staying at the hotel so that we had to queue. At times, we were not served a drink when we sat down and had to ask again. With regards to the room, it looked a bit tired but as we only sleep there it was no big deal. However, we found that the flush for the toilet did not work consistently and when we lifted the top off the cistern, we found that the syphon system was broken. We reported it to reception, but this was never fixed during our stay. In addition, we found our water failed to be anything more than tepid and the shower was only a dribble. We did report this to our travel rep who is in the process of trying to get us a refund on the holiday. I would definitely not go to this hotel again and am so glad that I know that other hotels on the island are better. Read less

The rest of the guests were obviously on a sharp discount to the one night rate which was extortionate for the place. DON'T GO. Read less

For those who read long reviews, I'm going to list the positive about this hotel before I give you my negative feelings. We chose this hotel because the Windstar Cruise Line listed it as their hotel and we went to Accra after disembarking from a Windstar Cruise. The positive is that their beach is amazing! The hotel provides free chairs, umbrellas and towels for an all-day stay. A bar and grill are nearby. The beach sand and waves were magic. I tipped the chair guy and he got us a spot with a better view and took care of us again the next day. OK, here are the negatives, we paid $400 USD for a sea view room. Check-in time is 3 pm, we arrived around 1 pm and so we waited which was expected. Around 330 pm I approached the desk to see if there was a room assigned to us-no. I came back 20 mins later and the desk clerk said the room we requested was still not ready and offered us a larger, upgraded room. We looked at it and said OK. It is room 479 and it has a balcony, jacuzzi and a king bed. We went to turn on the shower and there was no hot water and no water pressure. Called the desk and they sent maintenance man. Good response but no water. We gave up and went to dinner and stopped at the front desk to find others in our wing with similar problems. When we returned water had been restored with a minimum of pressure. My complaint is that these resorts charge high dollar rates but do not supply luxury features. Our room had windows looking out at the ocean but you could not adjust the mini blinds inside the windows until the maintenance man brought a magnet to open them. An art picture was on the floor because the wire hanger broke and no one bothered to fix it until we had the maintence man in the room. To be fair, the water came on with minimal pressure that first night after we returned from dinner and remained available to us the next day and night. I think the entire wing was suffering but they never offered to reduce our rate for the inconvenience. My $400 per night rate did not include breakfast. I suggest more searches for a hotel before you choose Accra. The room was clean. Having a jacuzzi was a joke since it would have taken all day to fill and by the time it was full the water would not be hot. I would not stay here again. Read less
