Stayed with husband and 18 month old daughter. Room, in particular the kitchenette was really well equipped to allow us to cook the occasional meal here, which was ideal with a little one who isn’t really old enough to eat restaurant meals all the time and isn’t a fan of pre made baby food. Be warned that the price of a grocery shop in Barbados is ridiculous! All the supermarkets were super expensive due to most food having to be imported. The pool area was lovely, clean and there were always beds available. Hotel was right on the beach so it was as quick to walk to the beach as the pool. Beach also clean and gorgeous. Location wise, we had a hire car but walking to any of the other resorts for dinner would have been doable on the roads but not very pleasant and we received very mixed advice as to whether it was possible to walk along the beach to any other restaurants. Over all, the service wasn’t amazing in the hotel or on Barbados in general. Staff often a bit moody and not particularly keen to help and had to work hard to get their attention. Food took ages to come whenever we ate in the restaurant. Haven’t subtracted any points for the speed and poor service though as, as mentioned, it was like this all over Barbados. One exception to this was the team in the on-site Thai restaurant. They were SO helpful, friendly, attentive and lovely. Read less

This is an excellent hotel at one of the best locations on the island. The staff are extremely helpful, the rooms are a lovely size and it is spotlessly clean throughout. We absolutely loved it here and whilst we never return to the same country, we certainly didn't want to leave and would highly recommend it to friends and family. Only a couple of small things stopped us giving it full marks. We paid for a BBQ night one evening (which should have been called a buffet night really as there was nothing cooking) but as we were near the end, by the time we got to the meat, there was none left which was disappointing. It wasn't cheap either at approx. £32 per head. We had to fill up on salad and it was only then that we were told that there were desserts available. So maybe a little more communication may have helped. My only other gripe was that I was woken up twice by the spa trying to sell us treatments. They also left 3 messages. But overall The Bourgainvillea really earns its 4 stars . It's beautiful and full of beautiful people too. Many thanks to all the staff for a holiday we will treasure and never forget. Read less

No elevator in the hotel. Poor porters! Had to go up three floors with our very large luggage coming straight from a cruise where one of the guests had worked for 3 months in a row. No inside passage to go from reception to rooms. If it is raining either you go outside anyway or through service quarters. One piece of clothing sent to laundry took 3 days to return.Only after complaining because, according to explanation, laundry does not work on weekends. Eggs. We were told if we wanted eggs for breakfast, we would have to pay additional, although it was a buffet. Read less
