Butterfly Beach Hotel

Barbados, Caribbean

The hotel

One of the hallmarks of any holiday in Barbados is a night at Oistins’ famous Fish Fry – and you are just a stroll from all the action (and a short drive from lively St Lawrence Gap for other nights out). Enjoy direct access to two fabulous white powder beaches laid out either side by of this seafront hotel. The iridescent blue waters of the Caribbean may be tempting, but you can also take a dip in the freshwater swimming pools – or head up to the raised circular patio for a soak in its trio of waterfront whirlpools or relax on the ample sunning areas with loungers and umbrellas. The sea views steal the show at The Reef Bar & Grill too, with its new seaside deck providing the perfect backdrop for Caribbean dishes, and for its weekly rum punch parties and barbecues accompanied by steel pan sounds. You can see why the Butterfly Beach Hotel is a great value for money resort in Barbados and a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice award winner.

Stayed at this hotel with my wife and three year old daughter. We stayed for 14 nights so this is a good enough time to review the pros and cons. Rooms - spacious with full amenities available including hairdryer, beach towels $2 charge per tower per change. Cleaning of the rooms was mixed some days great others looked like no one had bothered. We had a good pool view and side sea view. Showers were powerful and good hot water. Kitchen area however limited cutlery/knives. Pool - nice size pool with lots of sun loungers and umbrellas. No pool service from the restaurant which is missing and would certainly help them with extra tips and also money from drink sales. You can get free tap water from the bar (ask them for a jug with lots of ice) the pool it self could do with a good clean as there are teas of algae. I’d also recommend the hotel consider pressure washing on a daily basis to keep things clean: Restaurant- small limited menu so if I was half board I’d probably not benefit much. The service is extremely slow and we did feel at times ignored at breakfast. The restaurant need to utilise the supervisors to be the hosts ensuring tables are cleaned quickly, customers are seated and offered drinks. The staff were all friendly but certainly lack enthusiasm and maybe if they were paid more they’d be more forthcoming. The food was good and we didn’t have a terrible meal. Drinks are ok but sizes are small if you are taking a drink round the pool ( price isn’t reflective of this) Overall this is a great hotel for anyone wanting to visit Barbados and keep the overall price down. We hired a car for 2 weeks which is highly recommend as I didn’t want to be catching buses with a child or with the heat/humidity waiting for buses isn’t my idea of a holiday. With a few tweaks this would be an amazing hotel. Thanks for your hospitality Read less

The rooms were extremely comfortable the hotel allows for the use of both the restaurant and the swimming pool for quarantine guests. We enjoyed our time here and would consider coming back for a longer period. Our test results arrived midday following our day of arrival and we checked out of the hotel before 6 o’clock. The hotel reimbursed the cost of the second night and only charged a late check out fee. The hotel staff were extremely polite and the hotel restaurant has a fairly wide range of food on the menu. The only thing that let's this hotel down is a select few staff members in the restaurant. They are extremely slow at taking orders and stand around chatting alot of the time instead of serving people at their tables or at the bar. Me and my partner where ignored several times whilst waiting for a server to order food./drinks. This hotel needs to have a look at their restaurant staff and maybe provide some customer service training because there ertainly wasn't any. They would often also try to get us to pay pay for drinks that We had alreadty paid for. I think they need a better system in place for charging stuff to the room . Me and my partner got the gist that the staff have the attitude of not wanting to be there. Anyway, we didn't let this dampen our time in Barbados. It was a fantastic holiday. We had a few other teething problems but they where sorted out in a timely manner. Read less

We chose this hotel for our quarantine stay in a deluxe ocean view room. Prior to booking, all of my email enquiries were answered promptly and courteously. The room was spacious and well equipped with a kitchenette which meant that I could cater for my mothers dietary requirements with ease. As it was a quarantine room, no services were provided, but staff were happy to provide cleaning supplies on request. A generous breakfast was included with the room. When we were able to leave our room, there was a short walk to the beach and the hotel has its own small pool and cosy jacuzzis. Read less
