Coconut Court Beach Hotel

Barbados, Caribbean

The hotel

About as ‘seaside’ as you can get, the Blades family have called this sand-hugging spot home for more than four decades. And they chose a pretty perfect beach for their hotel — which is probably why hundreds of Hawksbill marine turtles call it home too. As you’re here for the beach, the Blades have made sure you’re never far from it, whether you’re lazing on the free loungers, watching moonlight movies on the sands, soaking in the seafront pool and whirlpool, sipping frozen cocktails at the beach bar, or lingering over candlelit suppers at The Deck. The beach itself is lined with beautiful trees to provide natural shelter from the Caribbean rays, so those that don't wish to worship the sun need not worry. It’s not just by the beach though — it’s also steps from South Coast Boardwalk which links you to an array of shops, restaurants and Rockley Beach. The hotel also features an open air restaurant overlooking the white sand beach. Above all else, do not forget to savour a Pirate Punch during one of the several 'happy hours' each day — a traditional Blades family recipe with a twist!

I recently spent 4 nights in the Coconut Court Hotel and my experience was mixed. The hotel was something like 25% full due to you know what. What a shame for a beautiful island, a beautiful part of the island and a decent hotel. That meant the restaurant on site was closed although you did have access to their bar/restaurant opposite the main building across the road. But its not the same when you could have a view of the ocean rather than a busy road. However the whole experience was marred due to one important element of the hotel, the reception/front desk. In total we spent probably 2 hours either waiting to be served or being served (and often being ignored) by the front desk. Calling reception didn't help either because they would say all teh right things but then not carry them out. The check in process was painful. Once we were shown our room we then asked to moved to a better room which happened once we accepted the additional charge but we had to wait 3 hours for the new room to be ready. The hotel was only 25% occupied so not sure why it took so long to organise. Fortunately it's a beautiful island with beautiful beaches so it wasn't a huge problem. Checking out was equally painful. It probably took half an hour to hand in the key card and get the final bill settled however 3 days later I am still trying to get my room deposit returned. They claimed they hadn't taken the money (pre-authorisation only) even though I proved it had been taken from my bank account. They gave me the story about it being a problem caused by my bank telling me to email them if the money wasn't returned in a few days. I have and 24 hours later, nothing. That doesn't surprise me because I also called reception from the front desk asking for assistance and that was also ignored. They claim to be so busy, goodness knows how they would cope with a full hotel. Also they didn't clean my room for 3 days, I had to get grumpy before they finally cleared the rubbish and replaced the toilet roll. It's still a decent hotel with good rooms in a great location so I wouldn't say don't stay there but don't allow them to mess you about in reception. I should probably have asked for the manager when things started to go wrong. Read less

I walked into the hotel, my first time ever being at this hotel and proceeded to the front desk. I said, " Good night", not a single head raised to acknowledge me, so I repeated myself. By the looks of it I could immediately tell they were under some pressure and seemed overwhelmed. My check-in took some time and when I asked about the protocols etc. for the next couple of days I wasn't really given any sort of information. or guidance on what is to be expected or what I should do. That information came after I spoke with the Manager based on a delivery I did at the hotel. Donna was really nice and accommodating, I remembered her because she was HOSPITABLE.Unfortunately, I didn't dine at the hotel's restaurant because I was ready to leave. The hotel is nice, but the staff could be a lot nicer and more attentive to guests, instead of just viewing us as dollars. Read less

The hotel is clean and well maintained. The flooring and décor were a plus and gave you a warm home vibe. The reception area is nicely positioned with the ocean, beach and coconut trees parading in the background. The rooms were clean, spacious and it appeared that the owners put a lot into making the room aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It also has a nice convenient store in the hotel to meet your everyday needs. The staff was professional and helpful. You had staff members such as Joan, Paulette, Donna, and a few others that made our stay a delightful one. If you are vising Barbados for fun or for business, you cannot go wrong with this hotel. We will be returning to Barbados soon and Coconut Court Beach Hotel is where we will be. Thank you to all the staff – you represented the hotel is such a positive and professional way, you need to be recognized for a job well done! For the price, this hotel provides adequate accommodation - and the room has a lovely sea view. Staff were all friendly and helpful. I booked, as the hotel recommended, for two nights en route to stay with family. My test was returned overnight so only one night's stay was required. I was disappointed that the hotel refused to refund me any of the fee I paid for the second, unused night's stay. In the current circumstances, a gesture (50% refund?) of understanding would not have gone amiss. On a separate note, the bottle of 'Pirate's Rum Punch' I ordered from the hotel was truly awful - completely undrinkable - made with cheapest white rum (or meths??). I poured it down the sink (and worried that it might even be bad for the sink). I'm not a booze snob and will quaff pretty much anything - but this was so vile that it seemed to me to suggest the hotel really has no regard for the tourists they rely on. Read less
