Coconut Court Beach Hotel

Barbados, Caribbean

Virgin rating

The hotel

About as ‘seaside’ as you can get, the Blades family have called this sand-hugging spot home for more than four decades. And they chose a pretty perfect beach for their hotel — which is probably why hundreds of Hawksbill marine turtles call it home too. As you’re here for the beach, the Blades have made sure you’re never far from it, whether you’re lazing on the free loungers, watching moonlight movies on the sands, soaking in the seafront pool and whirlpool, sipping frozen cocktails at the beach bar, or lingering over candlelit suppers at The Deck. The beach itself is lined with beautiful trees to provide natural shelter from the Caribbean rays, so those that don't wish to worship the sun need not worry. It’s not just by the beach though — it’s also steps from South Coast Boardwalk which links you to an array of shops, restaurants and Rockley Beach. The hotel also features an open air restaurant overlooking the white sand beach. Above all else, do not forget to savour a Pirate Punch during one of the several 'happy hours' each day — a traditional Blades family recipe with a twist!

We travelled to Barbados in the Easter holidays and stayed in a Deluxe sea view room at the Coconut Court Hotel. Our room was a corner room on the 2nd to top floor with beautiful views of the beach and sea. The only ‘noise’ we heard at night were the waves and the tree frogs lulling us to sleep-we left our balcony door wide open each night, it was blissful. We stayed on a bed & breakfast basis and the breakfasts were lovely and very plentiful. Our only criticism would be the rigidity of what is included in each breakfast choice. For instance you could order a ham omelette and it came with mushrooms but if you chose a different omelette, that didn’t come with mushrooms you had to pay for them if you wanted some-and they weren’t cheap! We found it odd that you couldn’t just mix and match items for no extra cost, especially as, if you were paying daily, some breakfasts were $45 whilst others were $25 so there didn’t seem to be any rationale with restricting items. Having said that, we loved the food and I’m not complaining! We ate at Jake’s across the road most evenings and the food there was delicious too, especially the coconut crusted Mahi Mahi. The sea was a little lively but it was possible to snorkel right off the beach and there was at least one turtle that frequented the are and we saw her most days. There are plenty of beds and areas of shade if needed. We especially liked the happy hour rum punches each day! We walked to Pebbles Beach on the Sunday morning, it was around 8.45-9am and when we arrived there were several horses with their trainers in the sea, it was amazing to see! When we came to settle our bill upon leaving, we were very pleasantly surprised with the price we paid for all the drinks and food we’d had out of the price we’d paid for B&B. All in all a really good value holiday in a beautiful, traditional hotel. We went to Oistins Fish Fry on the Friday night, the food was lovely and although we found the place a bit ‘seedy’ we enjoyed the experience! Read less

An excellent two week stay at this hotel. We went half-board at a extremely reasonable rate. Breakfasts were delicious with plenty of choice. Note: if you are going out on a tour, etc. plan to go into breakfast earlier than usual because breakfast is not a rushed affair at CC. The evening meal can be taken at Coco’s or Jakes across the road, both of which art of excellent quality and terrific service. We also enjoyed the odd lunch or BBQ at Charlie’s Beach bar but tended to share a serving which was more than sufficent. We did enjoy dinner at other venues as well. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean and bed linens/towels changed regularly. All in all an excellent holiday in a beautiful location. Read less

We loved our time at this hotel. The beach is beautiful, the staff are very friendly and we had a lovely view from our room! You can easily walk to places and it’s super easy to pick up a bus to most places in the island. It was the perfect place to relax for 2 weeks

I would say that Barbados in general is expensive, so this hotel was a good option for me and I was not dissapointed. Attentive and punctual driver waiting for me at the airport (and on my way back!). Check in is VERY VERY slow (check out was a bit faster). No drink or anything offered while you wait forever. Two ladies at front desk and only me and another couple trying to chek in but honestly this takes forever and I don't really understand why. Room was perfect for me. I booked a Superior Ocean Front Room. Lovely view to the sea from above the pool. Room was spacious, comfortable bed, bathroom was ok. Wifi works fine. Food is expensive and nothing to remember. Don't order shrimps; you literally have 6 small shrimps so you'll be hungry after dinner. Service is very VERY slow even if the restaurant is not crowded. Staff is nice everywhere in the hotel. Beach is lovely! Totally worth the trip. If you're up to it, book an island tour with Ted! He's awesome and I had a very nice experience. I would come back to the hotel. It's a nice stay, just be patient because service in general is very slow. Read less
