The hotel

This modern resort is split into two hotels and occupies 300 ft of south coast beachfront. It doesn't matter which hotel you stay in, as you are free to use the facilities at both. This means you can enjoy two swimming pools, an oceanfront restaurant and, of course, a selection of complimentary non-motorised water sports along the lovely white sand beach. Coral Mist and Blue Orchids Hotels have the added advantage of being only a 5-minute drive from the shops, bars and restaurants of the lively St Lawrence Gap.

When I arrived I was tired and dissatisfied with the dated room. (I usually do luxury) After a nights sleep in the super comfy bed, cotton sheets and lightweight duvet, I opened my curtains to reveal paradise. The hotel sits on a beautiful bay, almost like a private beach with beds and parasols for free. From this beach (Worthing) you can watch the sunrise and sunset which were stunning in itself. The hotel is dated but it’s clean with everything you need. The most amazing friendly caring staff, will help you with anything they can. Bar/restaurant I used often, as a solo traveller I didn’t wander far for the first week.the food was good and I had the breakfast platter every morning (delicious ) This kept me going till evening meal time. I was happy to stay in Paradise/ Although you are in a perfect location to explore. Starbucks across the road, Champers restaurant next door(must visit) St Lawrence gap, 15 min walk or jump on the ZR mini bus/ and defo visit Oistins on Friday night. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, especially a solo traveler you will be looked after and taken care of from start to finish. The beach is wonderful and also the use of 2 swimming pools. Coral mist/ Blue Orchid keep up the good work.I can not wait to go back. If you are looking for luxury accommodation this place is not for you, but if you can look past the old and dated rooms, which you are rarely in, you will be more than happy with this choice. Tabi, Darrin, Gerry, all the restaurant staff, thanking for hosting me and putting up with me lol, miss you all so much already 😊 Read less

The promise was a peaceful oasis. The reality was a run down room next to a restaurant pumping out music. The receptionist shrugged her shoulders and said there was nothing they could do. Complained to Virgin holiday rep. “Oh the room next to the bar?” Later claimed that nobody else had ever complained. Offered us a hotel along the road - but… Read more

Complained to Virgin holiday rep. “Oh the room next to the bar?” Later claimed that nobody else had ever complained. Offered us a hotel along the road - but wanted another £750. I can’t really comment on the rest of the hotel as have spent two days in the room trying to get out. Read less

All rooms face the ocean , large comfortable rooms , spotlessly clean . In need of updating especially the bathroom . Reception staff not as friendly as I would expect in Barbados quite off hand to be honest , restaurant on site pretty poor , not much choice continental breakfast not worth having as only one choice off menu and that wasn’t a lot . Breakfast from 7am quite often no one serving until gone 8.30 which isn’t good when you want to get on with your day , they ran out of coffee and orange juice , honestly these are the basics . We visited the supermarket and had breakfast in our room , great self catering kitchen area a bonus I wish we had paid extra for breakfast . Security staff very friendly and helpful . A little disappointed due to all the positive reviews I was expecting more . The position certainly makes the hotel not the staff . Still worth a visit if looking for a budget self catering holiday . Customer service is the key which I feel needs a lot of improvement . Read less

Absolutely loved this hotel. The people of Barbados. And the friends we have met on the way. Thank you to Amanda and Reggie for arranging the things we have done. Only one fault. The breakfast. It doesn't even march any breakfast I have ever had. Choice is porridge banana bread or bagel. Done that is is. Virgin need to get this sorted. Very miss… Read more

Not including coffee or water. Gripe over with. Fantastic holiday. Read less
