So firstly I would like to say we didn't STAY at Crystal Cove we stayed at The Waves Hotel & Spa which as part of the Elegance group meant we could visit the sister hotels! So we visited during the week for the day. First impressions are that the hotel is very pretty , the pools also have a lot to offer and we enjoyed swimming in the pool connected to the pool bar. We also had some drinks from the pool bar which is in a very attractive little cave.. but that little cave gets really hot and is quite hard to hear in there due to the waterfall. There is a lot of steps which personally i wouldn't of managed for the whole week. Food - we had lunch at the outside restraunt close to the beach but still a part of the hotel, a few of the other guests told us it's very hot to eat outside. We didn't agree after eating at the restaurant outside it was lovely and cool, great drinks made at the bar and the kitchen staff where so friendly and welcoming and my partner (as always) really enjoyed the food they had to offer! There was great snorkling on the beach area lots of fish to see which was lovely. Although the place was lovely to visit we was quite happy to get back on the water taxi to return to Waves 🙂 I would say that Crystal Cove is probably better for family's due to the pool areas. I travelled with my sister for the first time to Barbados and stayed 10 nights 28th April to 8 May. We we impressed by the friendliness of all the staff. Crystal Cove is set on beautiful grounds. The first night we had steak that was beautifully cooked at Reflections restaurant. The other restaurant is Drifters but this had to be booked for dinner. We alternated between the two restaurants. However, there wasn't a wide selection of food especially during lunch time at Reflections, in fact they served the same food during lunch when we were there except on Mother's Day. The bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. No noise or any other disturbance. The room was cleaned and beach towels replaced daily. We got sun beds but not all had sheds. We would have preferred if all the sun beds had sheds since we particularly did not want a tan. Unfortunately, we fell ill - something we must have had eaten at the restaurant, we vomited and had upset stomachs. The hotel was very helpful and arranged for my sister to see a doctor. They covered the bill, but we felt they should have also paid for the taxi to the doctor (80 Barbadian dollars). That is why we have given a 4*. . Read less

The room we were given was nice, cleaned regularly and pleasant. Food: The food wasn't all that, it doesn't really cater for those who don't eat meat and chicken. And the fish dish are same . The chef lack authenticity and kept it safe with the food, some dishes tasteless and the deserts were no very nice. Would have been nice to have local flavours and more vegi and seafood options. Staff: This really was very disappointing, poor attitude by number of staff, lack understanding around other diversity and we could surly feel the different treatment by them as with the white folkes they attended all their needs, go out their way and provided golden treatment, We, however had the opposite, unsure if its case south asain do not visit the island's like the white folkes , if so well treating us this way certainly doesn't make me want to recommend to visit the island. The staff on the beach can be quite pushy with selling their water sport activity and ladies you may need to be firm as the men out there can ask direct, awkward questions that may feel quite inappropriate (this includes the male hotel staff) . I feel most of the Caribbean island needs some education on diversity as we have visited Jamaica, St Lucia and now Barbados and the hostile behaviour mirrors, odd given we are also COLOURED people! Loved the size of the hotel, really easy to feel at home quickly & all staff from the moment we arrived were friendly. We had a family suite which was very clean & comfortable for a family of 4. Didn’t realise these have two bathrooms which was a bonus! Kids club ladies are all so friendly and great for getting kids out the sun doing some crafts & games. Beach is small but great for small children, pools again more than adequate for a splash and swim. We ate some great food and enjoyed most the cocktails. Best holiday we’ve had in a long time, just enjoy the chilled atmosphere, we will return!! Read less

This was a big shock to us, escalated to Hotel Manager who did very little to help. No security around the pool early in the morning and no CCTV, so very bad start to holiday. Food in hotel is just above average, water sports very good for children. Nice location, amazing beach, pools in hotel are quite small but nice, but be very careful of your personal belongings.
