We literally starved for several days, I ordered some coffee and got them 22 hours later, we had to wait for 3 hours every time ordered food and of course I had to email them a few times and in the end I had to go to the reception to get the food, even thought they knew we had a one year old baby. All they could say was; "they underestand". The quality of their food was unbelievably poor (1 out of 10). Read less

We ventured out to Barbados during these troubling times to celebrate a milestone birthday. To anyone looking to travel, DO YOUR RESEARCH - dont rely on travel agents. We arrived towards the end of June for 10 nights. I should state that when we arrived, Crystal Cove had just re-opened 10 days earlier. There were less than 20 rooms in use at the time, so the hotel was really quiet, so any points picked up on may have a valid reason. We found the checkin process rather slow - i think it was an hour after first arriving before we got our keys (there was only 1 couple in front of us). The complimentary drink(s) and snacks were nice. We were given a great room with a (slightly obstructed) nice view of the sea - even though we hadnt requested it. The main room was ok in size, not massive, though there was a decent sink / dressing space with reasonable storage. The rooms did feel a little dated, but were clean and tidy. The patio doors had seen better days. Overall the hotel/complex is well maintained, was in good condition and was sufficient for us. The beach / sea was great - many times we were the only ones on the beach as others stayed at the pool. The sunloungers are fab as they have thick cushions and individual sun shades - very handy. Food in the restuaruants was good quality, though there was a very limited menu (3 choices of each course) but we could understood why. So the main pros were - Nice, quaint, quiet hotel - Covid protection/cleaniess was good - Great beach / sea area - Staff were all really friendly and nice all the time - The Drifters outside beach bar/restaurant was right next to the sea. Service here was much better and things seemed better all round. However, due to some storms and hurricance Elsa, we could only use it twice during our stay. - The Cave bar / swimming pools are nice and well maintained. - Fresh beach towels delivered to your room daily - Being on the West coast, the sea is lovely and calm and great for snorkeling and seeing the turtles The main issues were - bottled water is not supplied to your room daily and your mini-fridge is not restocked after day 1. Many times in the night you wake up thirsty and not have anything cold to drink other than tap water. You can ask anywhere for bottled water for your room (free) but you have to remember to do it. Didnt like this policy at all. Plus the bottles of water are really small in size. - Reflections Restaurant - service was ok, some really nice people (Hello Kath). You have to wait to be seated, but no one is any urgency to seat you. There were often queues of people (and this is when the hotel is quiet). When food orders were placed, it would often take 30 to 45 mins before your food arrived - not sure why. And then, you would find that there would be something missing from what you asked for......and then the DILL.....why is DILL put in every single meal....not sure why this was. - No nightlife / limited entertainment / it was dead. Ok, i know there were few people there, but it didnt feel like it would ever be a social place where you would all gather - but that may not be the case. To me, this feels like a quiet hotel for quieter people and families - not an issue necessarily if you want that. - Rooms near the main road can hear load traffic noises - especially at 6am Finally, Hurricane Elsa paid a visit during our stay but we never felt in any danger and the staff did a really good job of keeping us fed/watered and safe. Many staff stayed in the hotel overnight just to ensure they could be there for us. So i would like to thank all Crystal Cove staff for their care and dedication. In conclusion, i would like to see the hotel when its busier to better see how it functions, but i'm not sure there is enough reason to want to go back to it. If you can get a good deal, then i would definitely recommend it. Read less

They say it is the people who make a company successful and this certainly applies at Crystal Cove. All the staff were wonderful and made our holiday really special. Not once did we encounter any staff who were unhelpful. The first week was quiet and for us it was lovely. However in the second week there was an influx of children which raised the noise levels and made it more difficult to read or swim , or dine quietly. Having had 4 children ourselves we are not anti children but at our age we will perhaps book an all- adult hotel next time , or go out of school holidays! On arrival we had an issue with the room door and later with the shower, but it was quickly sorted. The only thing to criticise was that the bathroom needed an update and the curtains could have done with a clean. The rooms - 321 and 320 - Oceanview- were wonderfully located on the site with beautiful views out to sea. All in all a wonderful break - despite all the hoops we had to jump through both in the UK and in Barbados - and we look forward to a return to Barbados as soon as we can. Thank you Crystal Cove staff for our lovely break - and Marriott please don’t spoil it with any renovations you plan to make - it has enough character to keep it unique! Read less

Underdilvering what's advertised I chose the crystal cove resort after doing a lot of research on all the hotels on the West Coast had to offer. They seriously underdiliver on what they promis to deliver. Staff. I have had some nice staff that can not do enough for you but unfortunately around 70% of them are just rude and have no intrest in doing thier job. The food. Well there is only one place to eat on site at night so that's the only option. Every other night is buffet and nights inbetwern was a set menu so very limited. On one occasion I had to ask for a kids menu so guess what a burger 🍔 for me again. Lunch menu there is a option of a burgar or hot dog every day or a buffet in the sun serving things like curry or stew not ideal for eating in those conditions There is a menu you can ask for at the bar but most staff deny knowledge of it. I think it's a bit to much effort for them The drinks. The resort are using the cheapest brands they can get hold of . Vodka is my chosen drink and its unbearable. On the 3rd day I made a request to get better vodka in which they did but then regrudged giving it to me on request. Cocktails tasted great if you ask them to be virgin so not the all inclusive I payed for. Unfortunately the quality of the alcohol had a damaging effect on the taste and quality of the over all drink. You will.be fine if you like a hot drink as the beer is always warm. The glasses are not washed properly so often you will get a hint of detergent with your mango slush. Water sports they are great if you can get a go. Often we where told no they are full booked but then noticed a family has acquired a full 2 hours. Yet we can't get a 10minute banana boat ride. Cleanliness fine rooms and the hotel was kept at a reasonable standard. Plenty of hand sanitising stations. Rooms great no complaint there. Comfortable and the bed was massive which I really appreciated Visiting other elegance hotels was great that you could jump on a free boat to the other two hotels. Waves -great lovely food ( except pate), great drinks using premium brands as promised. Service was great and very efficient Tamarind - quiet and no atmosphere not even suttle background tune so we had to sit in silence. Menu was very limited. I personally didn't like anything do aksed for a alternative which I was told no so guess what another burgar of the kids menu. In summery elegant hotels promis u a supreme & quality holiday but deliver a very low standard Read less

Desperate to get to a country on the green list, we chose this hotel. We visited 20 years ago and loved it and loved it again. The highlight of the trip has to be the water sports department. Steven, Holmes and especially Patrick were amazing. Kids both got up water skiing, loved bumping into each other on the rings, paddle boarding and the banana boat. Easily managed by a bookable sheet 24hrs in advance... Steven has to get the next mention... an extremely hard working and thoughtful gentleman who never stops working, whether he is delivering drinks to the beach, cookies to the pool - or soft drinks to the cricket game on the beach as he noticed some extremely hot and competitive guests!!! The member of staff who organised the Crickwt match was super friendly and super amazing at cricket!!!!! Raheem makes the best cocktails and expresso martinis in “the cold room” their coffee room - such a friendly guy who always has a smile (hopefully he won’t have to wear a mask soon and people can see it!!) The front desk were always friendly and helpful - we booked to eat in some sister hotels... have to say Waves was our favourite restaurant for choice of food. Would have liked to have eaten in the other hotel restaurants more than once, shame it was so hard to get a booking. Would prefer more choice at Crystal Cove, but the buffet breakfasts will be sorely missed by my teenage ravenous son!!!! We stayed in a very spacious inert connecting room to the kids in a great location. Rooms 214/114 area and a lovely side view of the beach. We visited Tamarind, Waves and Colony Club - and Crystal cove has the best layout. 3 medium sized pools with the easiest access to the beach - and the longest stretch of sand - with an amazing number of loungers... Great to be able to enjoy the beach and pool so close together... Room was cleaned with fresh pool towels every day, whole place was clean and tidy - and couldn’t really fault the place, Lastly get a massage from the Angel massage lady who visits every Tuesday abs Thursday... it was the firmest massage I have ever had - she was amazing!!!!! Hope to return in less than 20 years... Great job Crystal cove as I know you haven’t long been open with the pandemic... Apologies to any staff I have missed!!!! Read less
