There is a lot to like about the Divi Southwinds. The grounds of this hotel are spacious and lovely, well maintained and there are lots of beautiful spaces to enjoy. We enjoyed watching a resident troupe of Monkeys playing near the tennis courts and green Parrots flitting through the trees and along the balconies. The Turtles on the beach were also an absolute thrill to see. The hotel is staffed by the warmest of Bajan staff, all of which can't do enough to make you feel welcome. We were in a split level 2 bedroom penthouse suite which I would highly recommend for family's of 4 or above. It's an excellent space, you have real room to breathe and spread out. With views of the main pool you can also see and enjoy the whole resort from either of the two balconies. We made use of the Ocean pool the most during our stay, and enjoyed it's proximity to the beach, restaurant and facilities. Our bed and breakfast rate meant that we ate regularly in the hotel restaurant and were attentively looked after by the staff. Special mention to Keyisha and Shailissa who really went the extra mile to do whatever they could for us. We didn't utilise all the facilities, there were 3 different pools, tennis courts, basketball hoop and various activities taking place during our stay. The Mini Golf is a lovely 9 hole course in the grounds next to the main pool. It's a cute course with a couple of really fun holes that utilise the water feature it is centred around. Definitely worth a 30 min game and it's free to use. Location wise the hotel is central to the restaurants of St Lawrence gap which are just a very short walk away. It's 15 mins to Oistins and about 25 minutes to Bridgetown or the airport. There are 2 bus stops right outside the hotel so it's easy to head in either direction and with tickets just $3.50 a journey we would encourage everyone to utilse them over the more expensive Taxis which are also readily available from the hotel reception. There was work going on at the hotel during our stay put it was not intrusive and I would view as necessary for both expansion and maintenance. Our room, whilst very nice was in need to an upgrade with the furniture and decor looking and feeling very tired. WIFI was a bit hit and miss around the resort. Ironically it didn't work at all in our room but was fantastic down on the beach! If we were heading back to Barbados we would definitely consider staying here again. We thought it was excellent value for money compared to the west coast resorts. Read less

Great location down the gap, rooms are basic but have everything you need, staff are friendly and welcoming. Beach is lovely and pool is often quiet and a nice place to chill out under the shaded cabana. Definitely a great choice of hotel if looking for a chilled week in St Lawrence.

Beautiful, convenient location, well maintained. I booked a week's stay through Interval International. We've been to Barbados on vacation, we've stayed a day or two prior or after a cruise, as well as day stop on cruises, so we were familiar with the terrain, so to speak. This however, was our first visit to Divi Southwinds. . Once we arrived, we checked in and our room was ready. The front desk staff were friendly and informative. Our room was on the 5th floor with a balcony overlooking the pool area. The room was spacious and clean. Our unit had a full kitchen, which we made use of for breakfast. We did go Tri-mart (a quick taxi ride away) for some staple groceries such as bread, milk, eggs and water. On the Gap there was a smaller convenient store, as well as a mini store on the premise with some random necessary items. Note: we were able to change US$ to BD$ at the front desk at a fixed rate. . The main pool area was large and offered a towel exchange room until 5pm. There is a secondary pool, the garden pool, off to the left. We didn't use this one but i'm guessing during busy season it's an option. The is a pool bar/restaurant. We didn't utilize this. For those traveling with kids, there is a kiddie splash pool. . The beach area is literally across the street. It may seem far when you look at a map/photos but it is not. Note: the beach area directly across the street is a bit rough, if you walk down to the left, it gets better. Of course, this may depend on the time you are there but this worked for us in April. . The hotel itself is right on St Lawrence Gap. As you walk out the back entrance, beach side, turn either left or right and BOOM!! Restaurants galore as well as local street vendors. . We took the local BD taxi into Bridgetown, what an experience! LOL. All in all it was an amazing week for us. I will be writing up on some of our experiences on the island Read less

We had to call or talk to the front desk several times with problem unresolved. When my husband cut himself on the door and an injury report was made then the door was fixed (our last night there). Maintenance people leave a lot to be desired. You have to cross a street to get to the beach. It is a little distance to the beach. The street has all sorts of restaurants and bars. The only other thing the resort needed to do was open up the Bajan Breeze Restaurant which is next to the pool for food. When we were there it only served liquor. The guest cocktail party was a nice touch. If not for the problem with the door I would rate this resort higher. Read less
