We loved it. The quality was excellent, choice a bit limited due to covid.. The room was very comfortable with an excellent bed and bath. Nice toiletries. A well located hotel with great beach, perfect for a family break. Absolutely amazing staff, friendly and gracious. Hotel needs an update though, a bit rough around the edges… rooms great but very generic.

I went on a solo vacation for pure relaxation and received just that. Everyone was courteous, kind, respectful, and above all genuine. Jason and Pauline provided great service with a smile but the star belongs to Towana. There was nothing she could not handle and did so very graciously. Every staff member was attentive, especially Chef TIm, Crystal, Simon, Peter, Micheal and Edwin. But the star of the show is without a doubt was Dawn. Even though I was flying solo, she made me feel that I was not alone without being intrusive. She knew exactly when to make herself present and provided luxury style service. It is because of these staff members that I will return. The ocean front suites are definitely worth it and the view is amazing. We experienced tropical storm Elsa which caused some damage to the property including electricity. Mother nature has a mind of her own however it was disappointing to see that a hotel of this caliber did not have a generator. Mr. Martinez, GM, was amazing, informative and attenitve. Read less

From the first moment we spoke to the Pauline Suryana ( Director, Rooms) we felt a great sense of what was to come as we eagerly anticipated our first post-Covid vacation. We knew the island was managing its way back from dealing with the pandemic and as such, so was the Fairmont Royal Pavilion. However Pauline was quick to say that the hotel was working to ensure that each guest was treated as the highest priority in terms of staff service while safely waiting out our "in-room" quarantine. True to form, we found so many of the staff willing to do what was necessary - from delivering food and beverages directly to our rooms at any time of day, to making sure our lounge chairs were prepared for our blissful enjoyment of the tropical beachfront. Everything was going great as we enjoyed our scheduled 6 night stay. As we planned on checking out another hotel for our final night on the island (wanted to check out the east coast), I grew a little sad that we would be leaving this wonderful experience. However as fate would have it, Mother Nature stepped in a threw the whole island for a loop. A "freak storm" seem to come out of nowhere 2 nights before our check out and the whole island suffered multiple power outages due to the amount of downed tress islandwide. Not missing a beat, the staff at the Fairmont went into overdrive to make sure all the guests were as comfortable as can be without any power at the hotel. An abbreviated breakfast/lunch menu was created to serve everyone food and even cocktails were provided free of charge during our daily "tea service". Fortunately the power came back on later in the day -- but what about the rest of the island? As it turns out the east coast where we were to stay was still pout of power an as such out intended last night's hotel stay was in jeopardy. Thinking quickly, I decided I needed to speak with Pauline to see if we could stay one more night in our room. Without any delay, she said "it would be our pleasure to have you one more night" and with that all the stress of the freak storm subsided and my wife and I completely soaked up our extra great day at this wonderful hotel. This once 5 star property would not rank as 3 and a half these days. The property looks doughty these days, the guests appear to be refugees from Miami Beach. Nothing vivacious going on here. Room service is ungodly slow and while breakfast was reasonably delivered before getting to cold, dinner was complete miss. Stale bread, mushy fish, overpriced wine and no selection at that. However the biggest rub was being told if you're vaccinated you could move about the property, the pool and restaurants, (not the beach) until your airport PCR test came back. We of course provided evidence of vaccination and negative PCR tests, yet the front desk at check in, informed us we would be fully quarantined until the airport test was returned, normally 12 hours, no more than 24. Needless to say we are well past 24 hours and no results At around $600 per night, "thank you very much". Try anywhere but this sad and aging property of your trip is to Barbados. Read less
