Rostrevor Apartment Hotel

Barbados, Caribbean

The hotel

Oozing island charm, this bijou beauty has just 79 rooms but packs in plenty of reasons as to why it deserves a visit. Inspired by its stunning waterfront location, just a stroll from the heart of St Lawrence Gap with its great bars, restaurants and nightlife, Rostrevor Apartment Hotel features just enough turquoise touches to remind you the ocean’s right outside — in fact, every guestroom looks out over it. If you want to get even closer, the swimming pool sits a few mere metres from the ocean, on a bluff-like perch that creates absorbing views as you swim and sunbathe. An equally alluring sunbathing spot, the secluded sands of Rostrevor Beach fringe the hotel. The pool’s paired with one of the hotel’s two eateries, the Almond Tree Pool Bar, so you can dine in casual comfort during the day, before heading to the other restaurant, The Harlequin, for International food with Caribbean flair for a delicious evening meal.

The view is nice and room was clean, that's about it. Rude front desk employees. Lock on door only work half the time. The bar across the street plays very loud music till 4 in the morning. Drug dealers across from hotel, they tried to sell us drugs all the time.

Wine in our room when we arrived , beach is small but lovely and bigger beaches a walk away , Harlequins an exquisite dining experience , the almond bar with Verna . Across the rd Franks bar love that man , Sharkeys food excellent ran by Slade and Logan wow , Mimosa a new venue ran by same wonderful family dine by the sea and experience the wonderful dishes and Amanda will look after you she is truly beautiful . People occasionally say the gap is noisy late night , well stay somewhere else If that’s not what you want but when we close our doors and bathroom door we don’t hear a thing , we just listen to the ocean . Priced competitively , rooms constantly upgraded and maintained , various room options , heaven on earth , and always sad to leave and so many repeat visitors say it all xxx Read less

Don’t get why people are complaining about the hotel. I heard the noise may be an issue at night. The noise that comes from the ocean drowns it out. Add in the air con and you can’t hear the music from the pubs and clubs next to the hotel. Shut the bathroom door and that helps also. Rooms are very comfortable and kept spotless so credit to that… Read more

Rooms are very comfortable and kept spotless so credit to that maid staff. The bar is good and has happy hour twice a day. Verna who works there is brilliant and is a credit to the hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect as there is plenty of places to eat and drink near bye. Visit hals karaoke bar. Some buzz. Read less

We have just returned from ten nights stay at the rostrevor and upgraded a little more to stay in a superior studio apartment. Here is my thoughts.. The room was larger and actually exceeded expectations. It was kept spotlessly clean. Bed was amazingly comfortable and a big plus was that we could lay in bed and see/hear the ocean. Great view from the balcony. Bathroom was small, really designed for one but the best feature was the shower. Kitchen had everything we needed, kettle, hob, toaster and dishwasher etc. Washing up liquid supplied. ** first bad bit....the noise! I took a look outside the door at 1.30am thinking there was a boom box blaring outside our bedroom door but found the racket was actually coming from the shark bite night club down the street. Some nights it went on until 3am! I cannot stress how loud it was. We were in room 303. We could have had the party in our room. The rostrevor could do a lot to combat the noise by replacing the old shutters in the bathroom and kitchen with glass to aid soundproofing. ** Second bad bit..the pool area. If you like a nice pool area, you will be very disappointed. Its basic. The sunbeds to left (green) are tatty and needs replacing. The tables and chairs serve no purpose in that area so I would move them. Add plants. Cover the ugly barbed fencing up too. The pool is too small. Never saw it cleaned despite it being well used. A pile of old towels were left on a sunbed for over a week until I told a member of staff. - clearly people had gone! Yet there is a sign saying "unattended towels will be removed". Third Bad bit.. crockery. Dark brown crockery, not appetiting to eat/drink out off. Summary. The rooms are absolutely fine for the money you pay..but bring ear plugs, own crockery and if you like a nice clean pool and deck area. Forget it. Or spend $15 a day renting sunbeds on nearby Dover beach. Like we did. Would we return? sorry rostrevor NO. Read less

However, noise from Hal’s Car Park karaoke bar every night until gone 3am meant disturbed nights, only lessened by wearing noise-cancelling earphones. Apparently warnings and complaints to the bar are mostly ignored. So, whatever the merits of the hotel, it’s not a place that we will be re-visiting. Read less
