Rostrevor Apartment Hotel

Barbados, Caribbean

The hotel

Oozing island charm, this bijou beauty has just 79 rooms but packs in plenty of reasons as to why it deserves a visit. Inspired by its stunning waterfront location, just a stroll from the heart of St Lawrence Gap with its great bars, restaurants and nightlife, Rostrevor Apartment Hotel features just enough turquoise touches to remind you the ocean’s right outside — in fact, every guestroom looks out over it. If you want to get even closer, the swimming pool sits a few mere metres from the ocean, on a bluff-like perch that creates absorbing views as you swim and sunbathe. An equally alluring sunbathing spot, the secluded sands of Rostrevor Beach fringe the hotel. The pool’s paired with one of the hotel’s two eateries, the Almond Tree Pool Bar, so you can dine in casual comfort during the day, before heading to the other restaurant, The Harlequin, for International food with Caribbean flair for a delicious evening meal.

The property is perfectly located in the St. Lawrence Gap area in which plenty of bars and restaurants are within walking distance. The beach is just steps away. A great value for the per night room rate. The only issue we encountered was the mattresses and linen need to be upgraded. The mattresses were hard and not very comfortable and the linen was as thin as napkins. Read less

We stayed in room 415 November 11/18 2019. Upon arrival quick check in. Got rinsed straight away for the 92 Barbadian tourist tax and 35 Barbadian for the safe. The room was a deluxe see view studio in the newer section of the apartments. There is a lift by the way. Room had two double beds and was light and airy. There is a ceiling fan and air con as well (no extra charge). The room has a toaster, kettle, microwave and two hot plates. Cupboards adequately stocked with glasses cups, plates and the fridge had a freezer section with ice cube trays. They also provide some washing up liquid and a tea towel along with a bottle opener. Our room overlooked the small beach area which was lovely and had a good size balcony with table and two chairs. The apartment did have a door going to next door which was locked but handy if you were thinking of a larger family to have an interlocking apartment. All of the beds were free around the apartment and we never struggled to find a bed. Small restaurant area if you want food or drink with a happy hour for drinks twice a day. The older side of the apartments looked much older and tired but did not appear to put people off and there seemed to be regular customers who frequented this year after year. Staff friendly and about 5 minutes from Dover beach where two beds and a brolly was 30 Barbadian. Infinity on Dover beach also do two happy hours twice a day which was popular. Downside to the apartments was there was some noise from the bars behind at night if you are a light sleeper. Shut the bathroom vent and bathroom door which seemed to make things better. For some reason the fire alarm went off about 3 times we were there and when we went out to check there was no one around. Probably a test but the could have warned us. We enjoyed it here and the attached Harlequin restaurant was excellent. Great shrimp and steak, expensive but very good. Barbados gets more expensive year in year so if you need to balance a little bit of cooking this apartment was good. It also has a TV for tired little people. We enjoyed it here but the beach is limited but it does have a fresh water pool. Saw a turtle on the beach burying her eggs which was amazing. Would I stay here again? Yes! Preferred Infinity on the beach for us but then we are a couple not going with a family. I would definitely recommend the newer side but no one seemed to complain where they were. Read less

The hotel reception had clearly been refurbished to a high standard, but past that, the the hotel rooms were let down by what seemed like a cursory makeover of the hotel rooms. Our blackout curtains had 'holes' that let light through. Would not stay there again. Room maintenance was none existent, (broken wardrobe door reported twice but never fixed our entire 12 night stay) and the simplest of enquiries of staff from your room were never clearly answered, or staff simply did not what know what to answer. If you sighed heavily ready to put the phone down, you would get 'I'll refer your query to someone senior', but again, no response. However, individual staff were lovely, our cleaner on the third floor, and the lovely lady who twice served us our breakfast in the poolside eating area. Read less

Nice spot . Very affordable and nice kitchen. Wonderful nightlife. Recently Updated . My one pet peeve .... the tacky rusted barbed wire fence By the sea? Is this Russia . I saw many people including fisherman who climbed over the white fence. Please make us feel comfortable and remove this ugly sight to relieve an uneasy feeling.

It has a pool area, access to the beach and a cafe / dining area so there is no need to leave the hotel should you not want to. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. Perfectly comfortable accommodation with everything you need. Maid service everyday was thorough and the room was spotless. We had a balcony overlooking the pool area and out to the beach. Watching the turtles in the sea is marvellous. Walk out of the front of the hotel and you are in the middle of a selection of small bars, shops, cafes, restaurants and nightlife. Wonderful - just walk along the gap, try the street food, listen to the music and call in somewhere for a drink. Walk a little way and you can enjoy a wander along the "boardwalk" - great stuff. Barbados is amazing, the people are lovely, the food is great and I would happily recommend a stay in the Rostrevor for good, clean, budget accommodation. Read less
