This hotel is situated right on the beach front of one of the most beautiful beaches in Barbados. The views are absolutely breath taking. The hotel itself has very clean and tidy rooms and fully air conditioned which feels great to come back to after a day in the Caribbean heat. The staff are all amazing... such warm and friendly people.. always smiling and always happy to help. The service is great right from when you arrive to the moment you leave. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome by the reception staff and were given a guided tour of our room by the hotel porter. In the room there were 2 bottles of coke and a bottle of Barbados rum which was complimentary! The room also has a fridge and ice bucket which comes in really handy! There is a green folder in the room which tells you everything you need to know about the hotel and talks about the giant sea turtles which come up on the beach in the evenings to lay their eggs. We did see this one evening. You might also be lucky enough to see hatchlings coming out of the sand. If you don’t mind being woken up you can ask reception to call you when there is any turtle activity on the beach. It’s well worth seeing!! This amazing sight will stay with you forever!! The hotel has a bar and restaurant right on the beach which has stunning views... the picture attached was me waiting for my breakfast. The team that work in the restaurant were some of the nicest people we met in Barbados. The team in the restaurant are led by supervisor Betty who we really warmed too.. nothing was too much trouble.. we are going to really miss her. We also feel Hazel Anne deserves a special mention.. who was one of the servers in the restaurant.. what an amazing person she was. The restaurant has a no shorts policy which we read about in the green folder in the room. But you can wear shorts in the day time and in the evening you are able to wear smart shorts. Getting around outside the hotel is very easy. There are a number of bars and restaurants which are within walking distance of the hotel and there is a taxi place opposite the hotel. The official Barbados taxis have a Z at the start of the number plate and these are the ones you should take. Prices are negotiable but must be negotiated at the start of the journey. I would recommend walking a few minutes to the main road and getting on the local busses (vans) which pass by very frequently. You don’t need to wait at an official bus stop to catch these busses as the drivers will horn as they see you and ask if you need a lift. The cost was 3.50 Barbados dollars which is the cost of the entire route. We only used the number 11 which goes from Oistins which is fishing village with fish markets all the way to the capital Bridge Town. Great value for money!! Whilst in Barbados you must go to Pebbles beach which you must take the number 11 bus to get too from near this hotel going in the direction of Bridgetown. The driver will tell you where to get off. This is another stunning beach.. with crystal clear waters and white sand. Great for pictures! All in all our trip to Barbados was unforgettable.. and the hotel made our stay very very enjoyable. I want to say a very special thank you to all the staff at Southern Palms Beach Club for making our holiday a trip of a life time!! Read less

Recently returned from a wonderfully relaxing 10 day holiday at Southern Palms. We’d booked a garden view room and our room overlooked the swimming pool but if we turned very slightly to the right, we had a gorgeous view of the beach as well. Our room was a good size, plenty of wardrobe space, dressing table, chair, very comfortable bed, great air conditioning and large balcony with great views. The hotel has a beautiful beach with sun-beds and palm trees and I spent quite a lot of my holiday relaxing here. We were lucky to see turtles swimming in the sea, (which was like a warm bath) just off the beach and saw baby turtles hatching on the beach several evenings and helped to collect them for the Barbados sea turtle project to release later. We ate in the hotel restaurant several evenings and lunchtimes, and had some very tasty meals including “English pub night” fish and chips which is definitely recommended, and the fish quesadillas. also suggest you try the”bajan monkey and pina colada cocktails!!” If you take a short walk out the front of the hotel there are also plenty of restaurants for you to choose from. All of the staff in the hotel (reception, bar, restaurant, housekeeping and pool) are very friendly and helpful and when our flight home was delayed 24 hours, the reception staff kept us well informed about this, coming to find us on the beach and let us know, we were then able to stay in our original room for the extra night, this was much appreciated. Our room was also kept beautifully clean by the housekeeping team, and as an extra bonus the hotel also has afternoon tea daily with tea, coffee and cakes for all guests. This was not our first visit to Barbados, but was our first stay at Southern Palms, somehow I don’t think it will be our last. Read less

We came to Southern Palms beach club from 3rd to 17th sept 2019 and stayed in the super saver garden room. We were pleasantly surprised at the large size and found it more than sufficient for us with a large king size bed, a separate 'hallway' space with our own fridge and kettle (bring your own tea/coff) and en suite shower room. It also had a dressing table with stool and 2 bedside tables. There was also a casual chair and a small table too. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels provided. You are provided with a pink hotel beach towel for a deposit of b$50 which you can change when required. The room has remote control a/c and a wardrobe with 10 hangers. It had an iron and board also. We stayed self catering as there is so much choice of quality restaurants in St Lawrence Gap which is literally on your doorstep to the left as you leave the main entrance of the hotel. The hotel has security day and night. We hired a car for 48 hours which was £100 which we used to drive all over the island. The roads are easy to follow and you drive on the left side. Happy hour at the hotel is 1800-1900hrs. Breakfast is help yourself but we found to be expensive at £50 so we ate at Happy Days cafe over the road which has great service, wifi, is cheaper and has HP sauce! Dover beach is amazing but be mindful of the beach sellers who will try and do you a pedicure and sell aloe vera and drugs to you. On the afternoon of the 7th sept we arrived back at the hotel and found Dover beach and the sea to be swamped with Sargassum seaweed. It didn't ruin our holiday as there are so many beaches on Barbados to choose from and the seaweed was gone within a week. We used public transport and paid b$3.50 there and back to Bridgetown. Taxis are plentiful and the drivers will offer to take you on tours to wherever you want to go for a set price. Haggle with them for your best price but if you are a driver we would highly recommend hiring your own car and doing it yourself. The hotel has a guest laundry room which you can use yourself with washer driers, when we stayed they had broken down and the maid service did our washing for no charge! The hotel has quality entertainment every couple of nights and an English pub night on a Saturday with a live band. Cocktails are the usual pina coladas and daiquiri etc. Mozzie spray is required for sitting out at night. You will be billed for a safe if you want one for your entire stay at $3 each night and you sign for your drinks and food each time which you can pay as and when at the hotel reception. Snorkel and other watersports equipment is available for free at the watersports hut. Check out is 12 and we were given a room to shower and change before our transfer with fresh towels which was free. A late check out is half a day room charge so makes more sense to check out then use the spare room for free. Angela on reception was really helpful and friendly but the other receptionist's were unfriendly and quite rude when asked to clarify information such as directions to the bus stop. In general the female staff were not very friendly and at one point would talk about me even though I was right there! We were given a happy anniversary card and complimentary bottle of prosecco by the hotel which we thought was a nice touch. A small crazy golf and outside gym is available and the hotel has 2 pools, one of which is 8ft deep on one side. It only rained one day whilst we were there. Overall we would return here as it is close to the gap and easy to get to places but far enough away that you wont be disturbed by late night revellers. We would also choose the same room as when we used the room to change in we found it to lack things that our room had even though it was more expensive! We also saw turtles every day in the afternoon swimming in the sea🐢 Read less

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. For me through...it was seeing the turtles swimming close to the shore whilst you was in the water. And many evenings seeing them come up on the beach to lay their eggs. But the best bit was helping gather the baby turtles..just seeing and holding them was absolutely amazing. We were not expecting this as the season was slowly coming to the end but it seemed not..those memories will live with me forever. Spoke to many other tourists at different hotels and it seemed our beach had more turtles. How lucky was we.. When we wasnt helping save the turtle population we enjoyed peace under the many palm trees. Thank you Southern Palms the best 10 days.. Read less

Just returned from a solo holiday in Barbados and I stayed at the Southern Palms. Boy what a great hotel. Firstly the staff from start to finish were nothing short of awesome. So helpful, reliable, polite and considerate and I'm talking about staff from maintenance (the fire alarm and A/C played up in my room and they fixed it as soon as I reported it - no delay at all), porters (thank you Edric), front desk and bar/restaurant staff (morning, noon and night). Big shout out to Chad (breakfast staff) who was brilliant and funny (we had a good laugh). The location is awesome - right on the beach, close to other restaurants outside, convenience stores and other shops. 20 min walk away from a duty free shop in Worthing and you can also easily get a bus or taxi to Bridgetown for more extensive shopping. I will definitely be returning here again, without hesitation. I initially booked a super saver room but then upgraded to an Ocean View room and boy was I not disappointed. It was well worth the extra. Waking up to the sight of the beautiful ocean and beach with Palm trees was just breathtaking each morning. Thank you so much Southern Palms for an unforgettable experience (for all the right reasons). See you again very soon. Read less
