The food was plentiful and tasty, there were a fews issues for us as my wife is gluten intolerant but this was eventually resolved. Overall we thought it was good value for money and very clean and tidy, not the place if you want nightlife and bars but if you are looking for peace and tranquility you will find it here. There is a regular free shuttle to the beach or into Speightstown if you don't like walking too far. Read less

If you are looking to unwind and relax then this hotel is perfect. The staff are lovely and do an exception job in making sure you are well looked after. The food and drinks are very good. The grounds are very well cared for and it was lovely to see the humming birds and monkeys. Our room was overlooking the gully so most early mornings we would sit on the veranda watching the monkeys go to and fro. Very amusing. The entertainment (not every evening) is very low key and the singers were excellent. It was nice to have dinner and just enjoy the music. We hired a car for the duration of our stay as we like to get out and about. We would often drive down to the beach early in the morning for a walk before breakfast. During the day we would head off to different beaches and lunch spots. The hotel is very slightly inland but IMO this is what makes for a relaxing retreat. If you don't want to hire a car, a short taxi ride will take you into Speightstown where there is a lovely small beach with a few beach bars and restaurants if you fancy a change of scenery. Thank you to all at Sugar Cane for a relaxing time. Hope to see you soon. Read less

A wonderful stay to be had at the Sugar Cane Club if you are in search of peace and quiet and a relaxing stay. However if you're looking for non stop laughs and entertainment this might not be the place for you. I think we were amongst the youngest guests in our early 50's but we met some wonderful people and it was a much needed restful holiday after lock down. We arranged a few trips out including Harrisons Caves and went to a number of local restaurants and bars in both Hole town and Speightstown and can highly recommend Paul Owen on the beach and The Fish Pot, The Bristol Bar for live music and the neighbouring bar for a beach party. Pier one was nice for lunch too - most people think its a private club. Beautiful well tendered gardens with shady areas to escape the sun. Could have done with more umbrella's but three new ones were put up the day we left having been left leaning up the pergola for over a week, you cant rush these things! Chattels bar - missing a trick !! such a tranquil place, could be a wonderful chill out place with cozy sofa's, chairs and hammocks for a cool vibe with maybe a resident DJ playing chilled out music. At the moment it is just an extension of the main restaurant with less choice and not much else. Stand out members of Staff - Xavier 5 stars in hospitality & amazing cocktails - Rashidi 5 stars for his beautiful personality if not a bit forgetful & tipping wine over my partner which we didn't let him forgot :-) Tamisha 5 Stars in hospitality & the ONLY member of the pool bar staff that came round the sun beds with iced water - Sharon 5 Stars for her infectious laugh and love of Hot pepper sauce and Apryl for her amazing omelets in the morning. Not so good - James - come on James we've paid a lot of money to visit your beautiful island, the least you could do is make us feel welcome & smile, not your best asset for the pool bar. Same goes for Ryan in the restaurant really quite prickly with a bit of an attitude. Highlights - seeing the monkeys running around the hotel grounds in the morning, the wonderful locals we chatted with, the food, the lush scenery and the calm warm sea. Downside - rooms a bit dated and bit too far out although we didn't mind getting a taxi out to different places not sure many would want to. Would be return - maybe. Few more places to visit on the list before we do so maybe in a few years. Read less

My husband and I stayed at the Sugar Cane Club from April 15-22, and I have to say because of Covid, it may have been the best place to be. The scenery is calming and natural, even the monkeys making it home. Loved the fruit trees and naturalistic atmosphere; a positive. There is a spa (which we did not use) and a decent gym. The beach is a 5 min shuttle ride at 9, 10, 12, 3 and 5 with pickup at 9:10, 10:10 etc. Overall, the resort itself has excellent food and fabulous staff; thank you, Michelle, Xavier, Sharon, and others that make us feel welcomed. Xavier is someone to watch; he can go far in the hospitality business if he is given a chance. He is attentive and customer-friendly yet understands his limitations and stays loyal and professional. Now let’s get to the not-so-nice parts… when we booked, we opted for an “adults-only” all-inclusive. However, this place does border on a seniors’ all-inclusive. Entertainment and activity are virtually non-existent, definitely not a lively atmosphere. We were treated 3 out of the 7 nights with a hired performer or 2 to sing while we ate dinner. There is nothing in the day, no music, games, not even bingo. Being over 50 does not make us dead, we do need some fun, especially when on vacation. My husband brought a small blue tooth speaker and played music off his phone by the pool. The manager approached us to turn it down or use earphones; he lowered it for just us to hear, but then others started to gather around us to listen. By the end of our vacation, most guests gathered around us to listen while my husband took requests. This made our time so much better. The place shuts down around 10 after dinner; then it’s bedtime back to your room for TV; however, you have minimal channels. It would have been nice to have somewhere to hand out; maybe a lobby bar open til 12 would be nice. Our room was quite lovely, but a few flaws. There is an empty fridge in the room and no water. If you want bottled water, you can buy a 500ml for $2.50 at the front desk. When I was packing, my husband unpacked my body lotion and soap, saying we would get it in the all-inclusive… there was none in our room. You’re provided with a soap/shampoo and conditioner dispenser in the shower but no washcloths. I was told that washcloths were eliminated because people use them to clean their shoes, cars etc. Overall it was an enjoyable time. I will go back to Sugar Cane Club if the price is right. I should mention I overpaid for this trip because it was very last minute. I paid more for this trip than my 40th b-day Caribbean cruise, balcony cabin, mid lido deck... oh well. *** Please note that when on the beach, look out for trees marked with red. They are poisonous. You can go under but try not to touch or pick the fruits or leaves off of them. We were not told of this until we were on the beach and took cover from a rain shower under one, and another beachgoer sprinted over to us to tell us the dangers of the tree and that we should move as soon as possible. I told one of the key people at the resort that we should have been warned about this. She then asked if I didn’t do my research on Barbados before I came; well, just in case you are doing your research now, you know  Read less

I've been to Barbados numerous times for work and had never been here until colleagues put me up here. Nicely situated property, staff was really nice and helpful, and breakfast was great. This is adults only which was kind of nice as it kept things on the quiet side.
