Very far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. Peaceful, pleasant and the staff were kind and courteous. I would definitely stay there again. The food at the restaurant was delicious you don't even have to leave to eat if you don't want. Each meal was great, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

As ever, the food was good, and my Ocean - view room clean and comfortable On my second week the poolside bar opened and morning coffee and afternoon tea was served in the poolside lounge. I used the courtesy bus to visit Speightstown and the local beaches a few times and had wonderful swims in the oceans. I would like to thank every one of the staff who made my holiday so enjoyable- from the reception staff, maintenance, gardeners, cleaners and restaurant staff and chefs - you a Great Team! Read less

Our 4th time visiting Sugar Cane and as usual a great experience. Rooms are very spacious, we opted for one with a king size bed and separate living room and kitchen, which was kept immaculately clean with towels and bed linen changed on a regular basis. Pool and garden areas are again kept spotless clean with plenty of loungers in both areas to accommodate all guests. Food is exemplary. Breakfast is a variety of cooked or cold options, the usual staples of bacon, sausage, beans with daily bajan accompaniments, and eggs cooked to order to your liking. Lunch is 3 courses with your choice of soup, small plates or salads followed by some excellent choices of mains or the catch of the day, with some very tasty deserts to finish. Dinner is again 3 courses offering a more varied menu than lunch and chef specials, 3 nights a week the dining experience moves downstairs to the pool deck for themed nights of buffet, international buffet and barbecue night - the ribs on barbecue night are a must for any visitor. All the staff are super attentive and friendly, I can’t really single out any particular individual as they are all amazing, the servers, bar staff, grounds keepers and housekeepers all have a welcoming cheery smile and will always make time for a chat. They really can’t do enough to help you, and rare for hotels these days the management top tier are around all day making sure you have a great holiday, they’re also very friendly and approachable. Included for all guests is the Guided Gully walk around the grounds, a trip on the glass bottomed boat to see shipwrecks and swim with turtles and a regular bookable shuttle bus to local beaches or the nearest town for shopping. Things also available but didn’t use on this visit are The Spa, The Gym and Squash Court. On the whole another fantastic stay at Sugar Cane. Read less

I feel compelled to write this review to emphasize the importance of having a well-trained and dedicated team at your establishment. Initially, I considered detailing everything that went wrong, but that would not do justice to the individuals who worked diligently and provided excellent service. Instead, I will highlight four key areas where improvements are necessary to assist management in refining their training processes for future guests. 1. **Booking Process:** The booking process was far from seamless. I felt as though I had to plead with the reservations team to assist with my request. When I called, I asked if the hotel would be open in September, knowing that many hotels close for renovations during that time. The response I received was rude, and the call was disconnected. I then attempted to book through the website portal, but after receiving one email acknowledging my request, there was no further response to my correction. Ultimately, I had to drive to the hotel to complete the booking and pay the deposit. (It’s important to note that I chose this hotel because my father honeymooned here and recommended it for our anniversary. Without his recommendation, I would not have proceeded after this initial experience.) 2. **Check-In:** Upon arrival, I had to redo the entire booking form because the system had changed to an electronic one, This was frustrating, especially after the effort I had already made to secure the booking in person. 3. **Spa Experience:** My father highly recommended the spa, particularly the steam room and spa pool, which he said we could access as hotel guests. While having my nails done, I mentioned this to the therapist, who said she would look into it. However, when I reminded her after the treatment, she made a call and informed me that they were fully booked for the following day and closed after that. This came across more as an excuse than a genuine reason, leaving us unable to enjoy the facilities. 4. **Dietary Accommodations:** My husband is vegan, and I am lactose intolerant—both of which were noted during the booking and again when our reservation was redone. Despite completing a special dietary request form, our preferences were not communicated to the chef. As a result, my husband was served a "vegan" pizza with cheese, and I became ill. The following day, his pasta also contained cream and cheese. By this point, I was extremely frustrated. Thankfully, our amazing waiter, Ryan, spoke to the kitchen on our behalf and resolved the issue. That evening, Chef Rodney prepared a buffet with an abundance of vegan options and was incredibly kind, sharing credit with his kitchen team. This level of care was greatly appreciated. Despite the rocky start, there were several team members who truly made a difference in our stay. Waiter Ryan, Chef Rodney, and mixologist Rasheed were exceptional. Rasheed, in particular, was always attentive and cheerful, offering drinks and refills even while he was busy. He added special touches, like surprising me with a drink during our first dance on Saturday night, which made the evening even more memorable. The musicians that night were also fantastic, creating a wonderful atmosphere with their beautiful performances. Lastly, we thoroughly enjoyed our room and exploring the property, although I didn’t venture too far into the gully due to the heat and millipedes! I would like to extend a heartfelt "BIG UP" (as we say in Barbados) to Ryan, Rodney, and Rasheed for their outstanding service. They turned what began as a challenging experience into a truly lovely stay. Read less
