Upon check in, we were greeted well: a lovely gent brought us some drinks and took our bags. Generally, our stay was without fault. The beach is full of pebbles but still scenic and beautiful. We only ate breakfast here, which was delicious and the egg chefs are particularly skilled! Though the hotel grounds have patrolling security, this doesn't stop the beach sellers hassling you for illegal substances and massages. We had a horrible instance where we tried to stop a local man from drowning his dog in the sea, who became very angry and tried to hit my husband with a tree branch. When we informed hotel security, they didn't seem too bothered and that their hands were tied as they cannot get involved with anything that happens off the hotel grounds (even if a hotel resident is attacked nearby). On our last evening, my husband's backpack was stolen at a time when only pool staff were around (whilst clearing up the sun loungers): most of the content was dumped by the pool but the Apple Airpods taken. Hotel staff, despite scouring the pool area, weren't too bothered; didn't offer their sympathies or apologies, much less a drink for the inconvenience. Even alluded to another guest being likely to have taken it. Although the hotel is rustic and nice enough, and the rooms are spacious, it's tired and needs a decorative makeover. That and the staff attitudes need to be more accommodating. This is a service orientated industry after all. Read less

This is our second visit ! Great family friendly hotel which never disappoints.... Great food and lovely staff and everything you need for a relaxing family holiday including several pools and a few steps and you are on the beach. Used the gym and enjoyed a massage at the Spa as well. Hope to return next year.

Ideal hotel for a relaxing holiday. We really enjoyed our two week stay. Main positives were: Ether gave each day the perfect start with her smile, sense of humour and supplying us with a wide range of traditional and island items. I can really recommend her spinach omelette that I had on my last day. The rest of the staff were very friendly and always helpful. We particularly liked meeting them at the managers reception on the Wednesday evening. The hotel receptionists, especially Joy, were great at organising tours and events for us. The overview tour and shuttle organised for the Oistins fish festival on the Friday were excellent. I spent some time diving and found the Hightide group they recommended were great. The room was excellent and always really well serviced. The air conditioning was very effective and made for a cool retreat when the temperatures outside were very high. We went for an ocean view and spent a lot of time on the balcony watching the sunset. The adult only spa pool was situated in a courtyard that meant there was lots of shade when you needed it. The hotel is situated on the main bus route and we loved getting on the ‘yellow’ buses for the music, atmosphere and friendliness. There were some nice touches from the staff especially the fruit and ice lollies that they brought round to everyone each day. Read less

We spent a wonderful week at the Tamarind in August. We travelled as a family ( 2 adults and 2 teens) and found the Tamarind connecting junior suites to be a perfect accommodation for us. The hotel has a nice Caribbean charm and the location on the beach yet near restaurants and close to Holetown is just perfect. We weren't expecting super fancy rooms and were quite happy with the clean and spacious rooms we had that included a beautiful view from the balcony. We had a couple of dinners and lunches on the property but ate most dinners at nearby restaurants. We also had lunch a few times at the Roti Den across the street. The food at the hotel was good but quite expensive. The breakfast buffet and fresh made eggs were a great way to start the day. We enjoyed the pools, beach and water sports daily. We found the beach to be a bit rocky but once we figured out where the rocks were and where the clear paths into the water were it was not really an issue. The water is gorgeous! The pool areas are nice if a bit small but we spent most of our time at the Relaks pool area and it was very pleasant. Sunsets by the pool or on the beach were spectacular. Overall, the staff at the hotel were very pleasant and friendly. We appreciated Alecia by the Relaks pool bar who served us our daily rum punches (multiple times daily!). While we had a wonderful vacation we will not be returning because we don't like all inclusive resorts. I read this hotel is becoming AI in October. One of the reasons we travel is to explore and try local places. There are so many places in Barbados to eat and explore, including right near the hotel, and staying in a resort for every meal is not how we would spend our vacation. However, if one is seeking an AI, I am sure the Tamarind will provide a great experience. Read less
