From the reception staff, waiters & waitresses, bar staff, room service and maintenance men you couldn’t wish to find more efficient and friendly. Having read in previous reviews questioning the food, I’m staggered they must dine at The Cliff Barbados and The Ritz London or only consider McDonalds KFC or Domino’s as fine dining. If you want busy, and non stop entertainment this probably isn’t for you, but relaxing and everything you need it certainly is. Read less

We're looking forward to many more anniversaries here, this time with a minimum of two nights! Read less

We just arrived home from the above holiday and while Barbados, as usual lived up to expectations, unfortunately the Abidah by Accra did not! On arrival we were advised we had no AC in our room (407) and had a portable AC system. They advised that they were fully booked and we could not be moved that day. Upon entering the room the AC was very noisy, there was no bulb in a lamp on the desk, a light in the bathroom (there were 2) was not working, the lights on the left side of the bed was not working and the phone also did not work. The room had obviously not been checked!!!!!! I did advise the reception of all this the following morning and it was written on a yellow sticky note. No action at all was carried out. I then on the Thursday advised Gregory, reception manager of all this and the light in the bathroom was repaired! I then again the next day told him again that most of the action needed had not been actioned. When coming back to the room later that day the light beside the bed worked, but unfortunately the next morning is was again not working. I by this time gave up even saying anything and we decided just to put up with things. The hotel never once enquired if all was ok with having no proper AC and no bulb ever appeared. We were annoyed by all this and thankfully never paid a fortune for this break, but it was very annoying that people in this establishment either did not care, or were not properly trained. Also there were only two sun umberellas around the hotel pool all week, so unless you got up at 6.00 am and nabbed these seats you either had to burn in the intense Bajan heat or find somewhere else to go. Twice in the week there were no beach towels until at least 11.00 am and the beds which the ferried daily to the beach were in a disgusting state. There was no transport transfers to book at all in our stay to the sister Accra on the beach and we were told by reception that this hotel was full and probably would have no beds on beach or around the pool for us. We took matters into our own hands and travelled by local bus to Accra on the beach, got a wrist band and was amazed to find plenty of room around the pool, with umbrellas and on the beach. So we travelled there daily to spend our time. Lastly, after we showered in our friends room on our last day, as they could not offer late check out, as they were getting room 407 ready for next guests, with no AC repair! Our transfer to the airport arrived an hour early and should have been as advised 5.20, not 4.15. Luckily we were ready, as was advised they would not come back again to get us. We did miss saying goodbye to friends we had made because of this. So sorry to go on, as the hotel was immaculately clean and could have been lovely. Read less

We visit Barbados every year, always booking a different hotel before moving on to our favourite, Coral Reef Club, and have just spent 3 lovely nights at The Abidah. It is a low cost small hotel sitting in a quiet area right next to the nicest beach in Barbados. We booked independently and the whole process was faultless, and our front facing room, as chosen and paid for, was large, clean and well appointed. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The real surprise was the excellent quality of the food. Breakfast is a buffet with the added option of ordering eggs, lunch is totally buffet with a good selection of hot and cold dishes, dinner offers a buffet starter and sweet with an la carte served choice of 3/4 main courses. Themed evening broaden the choice further. We enjoyed it all. Drinks were plentiful and tea and coffee available all day for the early risers. My only criticism is the beach bed arrangements which need attention. Staff have to haul heavy old beds from the hotel to the beach and back every day, though they now also appear to rent beds and parasols from a local vendor, cold drinks are left in a cool box to help yourself.. This is not flawless - I watched young tourists from elsewhere helping themselves to the beds and drinks. The pool area does need more shade. Do not expect evening entertainment , if you want that you should choose a more expensive hotel or get a taxi to The Gap, it’s not that far. This hotel offers excellent value on an expensive island, we wouldn’t hesitate to return.. Read less

So very very close to perfection, my grand ocean view room was incredible, the hotel is beautiful, the area in lovely, very quiet, perfection.....now the small matter of organiastion....Meal times ranged between pretty good to awful when it came to being served, attended to and when your meal arrived. Waited nearly 2 hours for mid-day meal (Dinner/ Lunch). Only 2 sun shades provided pool side so if you weren't quick you baked in the sunshine. Evening time there is not much room to sit and enjoy a drink with other guests, I would like to see the sunbeds removed being replaced by tables and chairs pool side as I've seen at many other hotels I've been to.
