My partner and I travelled to this lovely hotel from August 19th to Sept 02nd, 2021. We had a fabulous vacation and will definately stay there again. We actually had a few issues in the first few days which lead us to ultimately have a chat with the General Manager who assured us that he would deal with the issues. Thankfully he, (Suresh), followed through with what he said and he had a chat with his team of staff. Below are the pros and the cons of our stay: PROS: - The General Manager, Suresh, is very attentive to his guests. Very pleasant and very responsive to his guests needs. He is the reason that we came to this hotel. - beautiful rooms with exquisite view. We were in room #302. Two balcony's (ocean-view) and hot tub. Worth every penny! - Miami Beach is right there within 2 minute walk. Just be careful as the waves are quite strong - There is a section in front of the hotel across the street with comfortable chairs and a side-table where you can relax. The bonus is that "wifi" is accessible all the way over there. Amazing! - The security man, that works over-night (I forget his name), is so sweet. He is friendly, personable and just a gentle soul - The pool are is lovely - The bar tender "Neal Rodney" is absolutely amazing. Fantastic attitude, works harder than any other staff member on the premises and always has such a beautiful demeanor - Welcome drink while checking in CONS: - air conditioner in rooms broke down frequently - the elevator is currently out of service for the duration of our vacation and so we had to use the stairs which was ok for my partner and me but if you are a senior or have any medical issues, you might want to ask for a room on the lower levels - After the General Manager spoke with the team, one employee named Michelle, took offence and then chose to ignore us for the balance of our stay there. Very immature! - Most of the staff are fairly young and quite nice, but they still need some training and coaching on good customer service. Very inconsistent service and information from the staff - Front desk did not do a very good job (at time of check-in), explaining this that we should know. We had to learn as we went along - On September 01st (day before we left), we went out all day and got back at 2:30pm and our room had not been cleaned yet. We were scheduled to go out for dinner and so I had a nap. The maid that cleans, rang our doorbell about 15 minutes after we got into the room (around 2:45pm). We asked her if she could come back in 1 hour as we simply needed a nap before we go out again. She told us that she finishes at 4pm. By now, we knew that the maids generally work until 6pm. So, we did not get our room cleaned. We woke up, got dressed and left our room at 5pm. Guess who was still cleaning?? and .... she was cleaning the room right across from ours. So disappointing! Overall, I would def stay there again, mainly because the General Manager is very responsive to feedback and guest needs. This is important! Read less

We stayed at the Abidah for 8 nights, and our experience was pretty mixed. We were expecting a luxurious experience since the hotel is described in that manner and the reviews are so positive, but I can’t quite say that’s what we got. The hotel itself is cute and clean, the room was decently nice, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. It is incredibly close to Miami Beach which had some absolutely lovely water and was usually pretty empty. However, a lot of the amenities and room features that are promised on the site are not actually available in reality. First off, the all inclusive situation is incredibly confusing. We booked directly on the site and there didn’t appear to be any sort of option to opt in/out of it, so we just assumed that it was all-inclusive. However, when we got to the hotel, we were told that we did not pay the all-inclusive rate. This totally could be my mistake during booking, but if you’re trying to do all-inclusive triple check while you book! I’m not even totally sure if they’re currently offering it right now because there didn’t appear to be any food options for anyone in the dining area during most mealtimes other than dinner and maybe lunch. The Abidah does serve a free breakfast buffet but only on weekends. Be warned that the breakfast buffet often runs out of food and you aren’t allowed to serve yourself, so you will have to wait 5-10 minutes for someone to actually come over to serve you if there’s even any food left. A lot of the promised services and amenities are not currently available. You can’t get ice at any of the machines, we did not receive any sort of “welcome drink,” there are no beach chairs available, and we did not have slippers or a beach tote in our room. When we asked about some of these things we were simply told that it was “because of covid” which was kind of a lame excuse. I’m all for staying safe during these times, but I don’t think getting beach chairs would pose an enormous health risk for anyone. I’m not sure what kind of “evening entertainment” they offer; it might just be watching the TV that’s set up by the bar because we certainly didn’t see anything else going on. The spa pool in each room is basically just a normal hot tub, but you can’t start it up yourself. You have to get maintenance to do it for you and they’re only available at certain times. I also don’t think the spa was open (again due to covid). The most frustrating thing was the inconsistent information about the hotel policies and schedules from the staff. People don’t seem to know what the hours of the dining room/bar are and gave us wrong information. When we checked in were told that the ice machines were available on every floor but they all have signs saying not to use them because of covid. When we arranged for a doctor to do our covid test required to fly home, the front desk told us it was 150 Barbados dollars per person (which we double checked with her because I initially thought she said 150 USD.) However, when we received the bill we discovered that it was actually 150 USD per person. We would’ve rather gotten a taxi and gone to Gymnasium for a covid test if we had known it would be that expensive to get it done at the hotel. We had dinner at the Abidah on the first night but went elsewhere for the rest of our meals once we got our negative covid tests back. The food isn’t crazy expensive and it’s plated beautifully, but we weren’t blown out of the water by anything we tried and the portions were very small for the price/quality. You can get much better food at the stands by the beach or Surfer’s Cafe. If you’re looking for something fancy/romantic, Cafe Luna next door is fantastic. I normally never want to complain about small businesses especially in a place that’s so reliant on tourism like Barbados, but I want peoples’ expectations to be managed. The TripAdvisor reviews and the hotel site make the Abidah seem like a super luxe, high-class place to stay, but unfortunately that wasn’t the reality for us. I honestly probably wouldn’t even have written this review if the website had been more clear and up to date about what the place actually offers. It’s a lovely hotel if you don’t need any extra bells and whistles! Read less

We had a very pleasant and relaxing stay in Abidah hotel. The hotel is new, sparkling clean and very well designed with beautiful rooms, panoramic windows and large terraces with jacuzzi. The location was perfect for us. The hotel is just next to one of our favorite beaches. We like to swim and Miami beach - unlike other nice beaches in Barbados - is completely "traffic free". No boats, no catamarans loading/unloading tourists, no water scooters, just a beautiful beach where you can swim safely. If you prefer completely calm waters though you might consider staying north of Bridgetown, as this part of the island normally gets some waves. The best beginner/intermediary surfing beach (with a surfing school and surfboard rental) where we could give this sport a try was a short walk away. All the staff we encountered throughout our stay was ultra friendly and helpful. We had an issue with receiving results from the test at the airport and the hotel staff did everything possible to get the issue resolved. Read less

I booked this hotel for my honeymoon and it was the absolute WORST experience I ever had. This was supposed to be the best night of my life with my husband. Upon arrival we weren't even offered a welcome drink, staff members in the room next door were keeping ALOT of noise and this woke us up from resting! My husband called the room next door to inform them of their noise level and the person that answered the phone answered sarcastically and continued to keep more noise. At this point we lodged a complaint to front desk and made them aware of the ongoing disturbance and also that we weren't even offered a welcome drink! Front desk then gave us the welcome drink the night before we were to leave and said it would be resolved in the morning. The resolution for this hotel was to give us a buffet sunday lunch! This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at any hotel and what makes it worse is that it was our honeymoon and it was an experience I would NEVER forget! Read less
