Just returned from a 10 day vacation at Waves which included our marriage on the beach, organised by Ryan Rayside his able side kick Brandon! Well firstly the hotel and overall stay - having been to Barbados a few times before I knew what to expect but my wife didn't, as she had not been before. The hotel is quite small but this adds to its charm, lovely rooms ( well worth the upgrade to sea view) which are still bright and fresh since a major refurbishment in 2016 - who doesn't want to fall asleep and wake up listening to the ocean?.All areas clean and tidy and well presented. As an all inclusive hotel the food is well above average at the Seascape restaurant. Waves has another restaurant called Shisho which is a Asian fusion restaurant - its great. We love Asian food - but its really very good and a surprising contrast and very well done. Staff are delightful and obliging but if you've never been to Barbados or the Caribbean things are done at a genteel pace - primarily because of the heat so don't expect instance response. Now for us, with the added unknown of getting married, the hotel and staff we're just amazing and made our day very special and catered for all our needs beautifully. We can not thank them enough. BRAVO! So if your looking for a great hotel at very reasonable price (a rare combo) you won't be disappointed - just thrilled ( if our normal). Thank you to all at Waves for a special holiday and making it very memorable for us personally. Read less

The rooms are nice enough, clean and more modern than others that I've stayed in Barbados. The resort is generally clean, tidy and well maintained. Food is mixed. Breakfast is good, lunch is okay but some (not all) of the evening meals in the main restaurant were up there with the worst I've experienced. The Asian restaurant was also awful, lazily prepared, dry and disappointing. We chose to eat out for half of our meals as did a few other guests that we spoke with. There is virtually zero table service in the bar and outside areas, which was seriously irritating. The waiting staff which occasionally meandered around ignored our attempts to engage and avoided eye contact. We tried everything, including tipping and nothing works. It was borderline rude and this needs to be addressed by management. Aside from this the staff were nice. The treatments in the spa were excellent and this was a professional and very positive experience, so use your free treatments! All in all, it was a pleasant holiday but we won't be rushing back. Had a great stay at Waves, lovely hotel, amazing food and excellent service. Special shout out to Mr Bignell on the front door, always had a smile and a wave for us! Christine who always had a laugh with us, Valerie, L’Oréal and Tracey Ann for preparing my sons daily bowl of watermelon. Pamela always looked after us on the beach with drinks orders, nothing was ever too much trouble! Rooms were always kept very clean and tidy - would recommend an ocean view room, the views are amazing. David & Lee - the watersports guys on the beach were great, we loved going out in the hobbie cat, my sons loved the ringos and we all learnt to water ski! We enjoyed the turtle boat trip booked through the hotel, Ricky our captain was great & looked after us well as was his assistant who was swimming with us, diving down and pointing out turtles/fish in the sea, we loved it! Gym was great as was the spa, the treatments were excellent. Evening entertainment was very good, usually a singer, maybe a quiz night or games night would be fun just to add some variety? Only one negative and that was the family pool, it was tiny, no view and surrounded by a high wall, not a pleasant space to spend time. The pools at Crystal and Tamarind however were great so we tended to use those. Great holiday, I would recommend Waves. Read less

We had a great holiday at Waves. The hotel is beautiful and really well-kept (as others have said - ignore the road-side approach!) and the staff could not do enough for you. We stayed on the adults-only spa side of the hotel which I would recommend, as it's very quiet and the pool here is much better. The food was brilliant in both restaurants, and the drinks and cocktails selection is vast. I probably wouldn't recommend the hotel for children/teenagers but it's perfect for adults. We visited Crystal cove and Tamarind sister hotels and while they were also lovely, we were very pleased we had chosen Waves. Read less
