Just had 10 lovely days at this hotel. Staff great from when you walk in to when you head home. We stayed in a junior suite with Ocean View. Was great. The food was lovely in both restaurants, my husband loved the Shiso restaurant so much. The Kymo Cafe was lovely for lite lunches, Being right on the beach, plenty of water sports. Taxi boat was so handy. The evening entertainment was very good. Just had one issue unfortunately. We had been by one of the pools and it started to pour down,so we went down the wooden steps into the hotel and as I stepped onto the marble tiles,I slipped and banged my head on the bottom step. Was wet of course because of the rain,I wasn’t rushing or anything and there was a sign up about wet floor but I couldn’t stop the fall. Jacqueline and Crystal on reception were very good, straight away got me some ice for the top of my head, which I had on for an hour . This really helped my bruising. My husband is a doctor and checked my head and I didn’t need to go and have a scan or anything. Did spoil the holiday a little. As then had neck, shoulders and back pain. Still have pain ,hopefully will ease over the next week or so? So couldn’t go paddle boarding which I really wanted to do ,as it is fun. Still enjoyed the holiday. We gpfeel that they should have a rubber mat or something at the bottom of those stairs,as it needs something to give you something better to step on. So just be aware of those stairs, The treatment section was good to. For massages, nails, facials. Would certainly return to this hotel. Read less

There is a good choice of water sports too. If we do return to Barbados we would certainly choose this hotel. Read less

The staff truly make this hotel. They are all friendly, approachable and can’t do enough for you. The food in the main restaurant is exquisite and the setting of the restaurant overlooking the sea is tranquil and spectacular. We paid extra for a sea view room. I’m not sure I would do that again - we could see the sea, but we were directly above the roof of the restaurant which was ugly to say the least and tended to spoil the photos. Whereas the main restaurant and public areas are on the beach side of the road, the main pool, spa and Asian restaurant are across the road in another building, which to my mind was far more relaxing and our choice for spending the day. Sunbeds on the beach got very crowded, but just across the road you could sit by a large adults-only pool in beautiful gardens, in peace and quiet and be served drinks by the unobtrusive staff. I thought that the rooms in this area, overlooking the pool were preferable to the sea-view rooms, and would probably opt for one of those next time. We did not try the spa. That doesn’t interest us at all. There was nightly entertainment in the form of low-key musicians and singers in the bar area, but I often felt sorry for them as there were very few people about to listen. We did take the water taxi to Crystal Cove for lunch one day, and were glad we were staying at Waves. It has a more relaxed, airy feel, less old-fashioned. I would definitely recommend Waves for a peaceful relaxing holiday, and wouldn’t bother with a sea view next time. Read less
