The Royalton was great!!! I enjoyed my stay. The food was delicious and the accommodations were perfect. I enjoyed the gym. I participated in a Bootcamp workout and water aerobics class with Crystal and she kicked my butt. She gave a great workout. Check her out when you come stay here!

Such a mixed bag of so many amazing things and so many average things about this resort.. It’s stunning, truly… The location is amazing, it’s breathtaking at times. Our room was the diamond club luxury junior suite which comfortably slept all 4 of us. The staff are either incredibly attentive or just couldn’t care less… mostly they’re great! But come on… I’m on holiday I don’t want to be dealing with moody couldn’t care less staff!! We ended up just finding it funny in the end. But… The food is average at best…!! The breakfast is fine. Standard all inclusive fayre.. lunch at the pool was ‘ok’ if they had what you wanted, and yes remember it’s a small island, they’ll run out of things! However their ‘world class restaurants’ at night are poor. Substandard food for such a lovely resort. The best of a bad bunch for us was the French restaurant. Italian was bad! Packet pizza and tasteless bland food. Indian was dry, bland and very much tasted like it was out of a jar! Buffet was just… so average, although the pizza in the buffet was better than the Italian restaurant!! If they had any left! It’s a common complaint from everyone staying there! The restaurant outside of the resort just a mere 3 minute walk down the beach was making a killing and was actually very nice! But you’ve paid a lot of money for a holiday… You shouldn’t need to be eating somewhere else!! Lastly and totally unavoidable… mosquitoes and flies are everywhere, it’s no one’s fault obviously, but take lots of repellent, you’ll need it. Don’t forget it as you’ll need to take out a small mortgage to buy it in the shop at around $30 (£25) Loved Grenada, loved the people (mostly) not sure I’d go back to The Royalton. Read less

Came here to celebrate anniversary, we are well traveled but this was our first Royalton. I had read mixed reviews of this resort so I had realistic expectations. The food is horrible. The buffet had flies all over the food even inside the bowls at the salad bar. The options were limited and it was not restocked as the day went on. Food sat out a long time. Dry breads, slimy smoked salmon, barely cold juices. They recycled food from the previous day. The only great thing was Adrian the singing omelette maker! the omelettes were overcooked but at least tasted better that most other things. Service is lacking. Some servers were attentive and others would not even acknowledge us. We were only offered coffee at breakfast 3 times in a week we ended up getting our own and water refills ourselves most days. The alacarte restaurants were only open a few days due to the hurricane.Taj was the best meal all week. Service was good there but they were out of a few items which is a theme here. every restaurant was out of half the menu items the whole week. My goat cheese and walnut salad at the French place came out as iceberg lettuce, red and green peppers and French dressing… why because they were out. The lasagna at the Italian place tasted like Taco Bell. Ordered cannolis was told they have never been served there even though they on the menu. room service never got one order correct , not one in 3 times we tried to use it. Because we had a curfew on Sunday night before Beryl hit, they dropped off dinner boxes that consisted of half a ham sandwich and some fruit. My husband is vegetarian so when I asked for an alternate mealno was told they would bring a vegetarian one. It never showed. Our “breakfast” box the next morning was the same thing ham sandwich and fruit so for 17 hours my husband only had grapes to eat. Our minibar had snacks the first day but never got restocked even after i asked our butler once the hurricane passed. It took two days for someone to respond to our request to have the fridge restocked only to be told they were out of Coke. Again had to ask our butler who found some the next day. The ice cream shop never had any spoons all week. Most bars were out of basics like cranberry juice or vodka. My Bloody Mary was made in a paper coffee cup one day, drinks were not made the same consistently either. We did not encounter a friendly bartender all week. Most acted like we were bothering them when we went up to get our own drinks at the pool because the drink service advertised was non existent. We were offered a drink by a server once the whole week. Again not a big deal but at least be able to make basic drinks. We tip well too so I don’t get the attitude from the bar staff. We were Diamond club but the only thing nice there was Monique, Sherry and Milano. They were friendly and helpful all week and worked non stop during the hurricane. The food in Diamond club was sketchy, it sat out all day on cold plates that were not very cold and hot plates that I could touch with my fingers. Not safe temps for the chicken wings or burgers they put out every day. We also did not receive the Diamond club amenities like the aqua therapy, slippers, turn down service or beach bag. I did get the bag when I asked for it specifically. Our butler was just ok. I don’t need a butler and wished we didn’t have one because then we felt like we had to tip even though the only thing she did was make dinner reservations a couple of times. . Not the same experience as other guests who raved about their butlers. As a guest I should not have to inform the staff of what I should receive. It’s uncomfortable to have to ask so I would think the butlers would make it seamless. We didn’t even have hand soap all week. Housekeeping told us they were out and advises us to use body wash to wash our hands. Access to Diamond club pool is not regulated, no one cares who uses it, I noticed a lot of regular blue wristbands there which is fine but it got crowded. Defeating the reason I book DC. I realize the hurricane did affect staffing etc but there is no reason that the food and beverage situation should be that bad and unsafe to eat. That is an issue with management and provisioning. A resort should be able to sustain its guests for several weeks at all times regardless of a hurricane or not. The GM Audrey was very pleasant but I think she has some inexperienced or apathetic employees. Because of the hurricane the resort was not fully functioning with all restaurants, bars, entertainment and spa open until Thursday night but we were not compensated at all for the lack of services we paid for. I realize it’s a natural disaster and technically they don’t have to by policy but I would think a company as large as Marriott who owns Royalton would have made a gesture of goodwill of some sort to keep guests returning. I know I won’t be booking another Royalton. Read less

After my last visit in March, i said i would never return to the Royalton Grenada. But i decided to give it another try. The Best decision i ever made. New , friendly and courteous front desk crew. The manager, Ricardo is the best thing that ever happened at the Royalton Grenada. He gave my friends and I the best customer service any one can ask for . He listened to our requests, and not once did he appear to be annoyed nor rude. He is a dedicated and knowledgeable leader. From the moment we arrived at check in to check out the crew was great! I can see that Ricardo leads by example. Read less
