Loved the resort - service was exceptional. The break-wall made it easy to swim and snorkel even when the sea was rough, Really enjoyed that there was an active pool and a quiet pool depending on what you wanted do. I was disappointed in the quality of food in a number of restaurants - not what I expected compared to previous Sandals visits.

For context, this was our first visit to a Sandals resort. We are a couple in our early 20s who are well travelled in the Caribbean and Central America all inclusive market. This was our first major trip after the easing of COVID rules flying out of the UK. We decided to spend a little bit more than we ordinarily would in an attempt to relax and recover post COVID- and we certainly were not disappointed. On arrival we were upgraded to a junior suite in the lovers lagoon area of the resort. This room was amazing (and was actually an upgrade I was contemplating spending an additional £400 on prior to the trip). The room was spacious, spotlessly clean and had all the facilities I would expect of a hotel in this price range (including an outside bath overlooking a wildlife filled lagoon). For us food is the major differentiator between a good hotel and a really good hotel. We arrived at the hotel in the early evening fully expecting a below par meal on the first night (as has been provided at hotels we have stayed at before). We dinned at Spices on the first night (which is a Caribbean inspired restaurant)- this was a massive bonus for us as we do enjoy trying new things when we go away. Therefore being able to sample some locally inspired dishes was a real treat. The food was amazing and considering that this is a restaurant that you do not need to book- the standard was very high. We managed to dine at all the restaurants that required bookings- which I was apprehensive about reading prior reviews. Usually when we go away for a week we get quite tiresome of the food served, however the variation across the 5 different restaurants we attended was amazing. In terms of the facilities at the hotel- we sat at the pool with the pool bar for two days. One thing to note is that the seats are all reserved around this pool by about 7am in the morning. Luckily coming out the UK the jet lag will work in your favour in being able to reserve a seat. However, there were many occasions other guests would arrive at this pool at around 8 and not be able to find a place to sit. We didn’t have too much trouble with the butlers putting towels out for their guests, but it is true that many of these guests will only come down to their benches around late morning to early afternoon- which I can understand can be frustrating to many guests not using the butler service. One minor negative about this area is that in the morning it is very quite- however, around 2 pm they start playing music very loudly. For us this wasn’t too much of an issue as it did add a bit of an atmosphere around the pool bar- but there was a definite shift away from the relaxing vibes. A simple resolution to this would be to turn down the music slightly. On the remaining couple of days we sat on the beach. Here you get use of another pool and easy access to the sea. The beach was very clean- however, I suspect that it is an artificial beach and is not a white sand Caribbean beach. If you are looking for a white sand beach- there is an amazing beach a couple of miles up the coastline called Grand Anse. This is a pure white Caribbean beach! One minor negative we encountered at the beach was that often the waiters and waitresses who would take drinks orders would intentionally skip our sun lounger and serve older guests either side of us (although the staff wear badges saying that they do not expect a tip- we suspect that service does differ depending on who the staff perceive will give a tip throughout and at the end of the stay). This was a major disappointment as all other staff throughout the resort were extremely friendly and made a very good representation of the Grenadian people and their renowned friendly personalities. In relation to COVID- we felt extremely safe here. The measures taken both inside and out of the resort are far better than those in the UK. Masks uptake amongst guests when we went was very good and hand sanitiser was required on entry to any restaurant and bar. We went on one excursion using the on-site island routes office. We ordinarily would seek to book with local guides, however with COVID we thought it’d be better to go through island routes. We chose to go on the 4x4 keep excursion at a price of $484 dollars. The trip lasts a whole day and you really do get to see everywhere in Grenada. The highlight for us was swimming in Annandale falls which was beautiful. However it should be noted that the morning is spent going around St George’s (the capital) and going into very tourist orientated gift shops. For the price this was not something we thought was an amazing use of time in the morning and we would have wished to have been able to spend more time either on the beach on Grand Anse or spent longer at some of the other attractions along the route taken. I would conclude this review saying we visited the resort in November. I asked on booking in what their occupation rates were and was told around 70-80% (although it felt a bit quieter than this. I was weary about some of the reviews further down this thread about slower service and dirtier pool and restaurant areas and I would fully agree that there is probably the potential for this during busier periods due to the small size of the resort. Therefore, I would suggest that a top tip for this resort would be to visit in quieter months to be able to receive the world renowned sandals experience. I would love to visit the resort and Grenada again in the near future! Read less

The Good: Our Butler team of Ifori, Andrew and Sylvika were awesome and it was great to get to know all of them. They were wonderful and their attention to details was top notch. Tyrone, Curtis and Thayne were awesome to dive with and helped both of us gain additional diving certifications. Rescue for myself and Advanced for my wife. The Bad: As mentioned in a previous review the current situation with the dive boat is beyond unacceptable for a Sandals resort. Especially one that advertises and promotes diving as heavily as this resort. Had we not been in classes and ended up on a different boat our last two days I probably would not have considered returning in the future due to the "dive boat" AKA catamaran with a smokey barely functioning motor. The Ugly: We typically book 1-2 additional Sandals vacations while on property and this trip was no exception as we booked 2 additional trips. We worked with Cleon in the loyalty office and left happy at the time. This is where things took a turn for the worst. He had advised us to call and add/change items upon our return as his system was not letting him make the changes at booking. (Should have set off red flags, so shame on me) We asked multiple times if that was OK and if we needed to call that day or if it could wait until we returned home. Cleon insisted that there was no hurry and we could make the adds and changes up until 45 days pre-departure, so back to vacation we went. Upon the return home when I called to make the changes and adds I was told that because we had elected to take the discount and pay in full at booking, nothing could be changed or added, despite what we had been told. Sandals conducted an "investigation" and their results were that I misunderstood and should have known better based on my previous bookings. Sandals refused to make the changes or offer any compensation for additional costs I will now have. Essentially they promoted their employee (Cleon) providing incorrect information even at the cost of me the customer. At the end of the day in the fine print Sandals was correct that nothing could be changed and shame on me for trusting/listening to Cleon rather than reading all the fine print. So if you are booking at the loyalty office ask for Richie or Londa (we had a great time chatting with her) and make sure to read every last line in the paperwork. Based on the experience with the future booking and the misinformation from Cleon it is unlikely that I would return to this resort and as of now highly unlikely that I would consider booking another Sandals vacation.
