This is an excellent resort where you always addressed by name not your room number. Our room was well appointed with two queen size beds, large cable TV and large bathroom with whirlpool bath, separate rain shower. A well stocked mini bar is available with ice supplied twice daily. The is also tea and coffee facilities. The food in both the main restaurant, Oliver’s, and the bar is top quality with something for every taste. There is a first class bar and beech service. All the staff are very friendly and very efficient. They are always smiling and keen to make your stay as memorable as possible. Read less

This place is simply superb. I’m stunned at the reviews which are not positive. Examples of bad reviews which are just silly: - no fresh fruit- simply false. There was a good selection of fruit every morning. It varies but always ample with good choices. - not a girls trip - well no, if you want wild, got to Vegas or some 3 star place. We saw plenty of girl groups and some singles too. - birds on the beach and I have a phobia - hello, it’s an ocean beach! There were far less birds than we saw at the last resort we visited. If you have a phobia stay inside. No place is perfect. This place is pretty close. None of the bad reviews I see seem legitimate. Read less

We had an eight day stay in late April and early May. It was truly and excellent experience. The staff can handle everything you need. They were happy to set up airport transportation. We are from the US, so we needed Covid tests to return and they took care of that, too. Want a driver to take you around the island - "let us take care of that" and "let us pack you a picnic fo the day" Oor room faced the beach and we could walk out to a private lounge area. Even when a cruise ship was in port, the beach was not crowded on the end of the beach where the resort is located. The room was spotless and was serviced twice a day. If we wanted the mini bar stocked differently the front desk was happy to oblige. We tipped our room staff most days and wished we'd remembered to do it every day. They were excellent. The beach is one of the best anywhere. Water temperature varies over the year, and it was cool in late May but we found it refreshing. If you prefer the pool, it has a beach view and is not crowded either. The food is very good, and some dishes are superb. Like anything else, it depends on what you order and what you like. Only a few dishes are local cuisine. All the local style dishes we tried were wonderful. Most of the food is done in a British style, and most of the guests were from the UK or Candra. Portions were larger than you'd see in the UK, which may be a nod to American sensibilities. For American tastes, the seafood tended to be a little overcooked but that's roughy what I'd expect in London. There were always fresh fruit and veggies, with much of it coming from the island it seemed. House wines are part of the all inclusive package, and we found them quite nice. We didn't bother to buy anything off the wine list. The bar service is exceptional. And, the quality of the "well" bottles was as good or better than most places keep on their "top shelf." As you'd expect in a Commonwealth resort, there are many kinds of Gin for your Gin and Tonic. The beach drinks are all hand made and many have a local twist, like grated nutmeg. There were (of course) different rums to choose from. The spa and workout area are not crowded and very nice. We used them several times, and always had thoughtful, unobtrusive service. The massage was superb, with a skilled provider and no rough treatment. Twice a week, there is a small shopping market set up at the resort. For the most part, this is the best of what you will find in town or out on the island, and the prices are good. If you want some spices or gifts to take home, the only thing you might leave the report for would be to buy some local rum, and you can get that at the airport on the way out. There are some fun things to see in town, and the views from the top of the mountain are good. The rainforest and old volcanos are interesting, so you may want to do an excursion, despite the good shopping at the resort. Read less

This is an outstanding hotel! It’s typical in style of several great Caribbean hotels; an open and airy design with fresh clean decoration set in a prime beach location. What makes Spice Island stand out are the staff, first class service and the exceptional quality and choice of freshly cooked food. All of the staff without exception are friendly, personable and very professional. During our week stay the quality of the freshly prepared food was amazing every meal, worthy of any fine dining restaurant. We stayed in a Seagrape room which is a great choice of accommodation with direct beach access and your own patio area with loungers and hammock. The beach is made up of fine golden sand with plenty of loungers for the guests and a scattering of trees for shade if you need it and stunning sunsets to follow every evening. As fantastic as the hotel is make sure you get out to look around the island, the brightly coloured houses against the rainforest backdrop make wonderful scenery and photos. The best hotel and Caribbean island we have visited. Read less
