Our fourth visit to the SIBR, and as amazing as ever. Feels like we are returning to see old family. Seagrape rooms opening onto the beach are simply fabulous. Having stayed in many 5* resorts with two children, this is the only place I have found with enough drawer and cupboard space to actually unpack and put the suitcases away. Bed large enough for 4 of us to sleep in at times! Swimming pool warm, even in November. But then so was the sea, which is on the whole calm for swimming. A couple of days due to the shelving on entry it was too rough to let our 4 and 1 y olds go in. Michael, the pool attendant is an absolute asset to the spice staff - always checking we were ok, generally welcoming and chatting and couldn’t do enough to make sure we were comfortable. Food is on the whole tasty, if at times a little eclectic, but is trying to use local ingredients, which is great. Vegetarian options were at times a little more miss than hit, and would be my one suggestion on where improvements need to be made. But, if you don’t want anything on the menu, just ask in advance and they will cook you whatever you want. Resort is very accommodating of small children, although I wouldn’t say sells itself as a family resort. We didn’t use the nutmeg pod, and it is a shame that they don’t organise more outdoor activities (similar style properties we have stayed at have done treasure hunts, sandcastle competitions etc). Ask for for for them whenever you might want it, but be prepared to wait 45mins-hour for a ham sandwich! Staff are great, so friendly, know you by name. Big thanks to Wilton, Devon, Dexter, Lester, Georgia and Cher at the bar for making our diverse requests. And my boys say a big thank you to Aggie for icecream with sprinkles! And I had a wonderful massage by Rosie. As I have said in previous reviews, this is quiet and relaxing resort. You will not have to fight for a sunbed or get up early to secure one. It is not adult only, the children present are on the whole well behaved, but are nonetheless children. There is not music blaring at the pool and evening entertainment is not on every night, when it is its a live band. If you want to get drunk, behave raucously and expect evening entertainment and organised volleyball games, then this is not the resort for you. We will be back. Read less

We have been fortunate to have visited dozens of hotels in the Caribbean in recent years, and we’ve decided that this is one of the best. We had a great time. The plus points are that everything is of excellent quality. The room was spacious and excellent, the dinners were superbly crafted and presented, and the staff members are friendly and efficient. Our room was very well furnished and comfortable and led directly onto the very long (2.13km) Grande Anse Beach. It was spotlessly clean and towels and linen were changed daily. We walked over to Morne Rouge Beach every morning, sometimes having it nearly all to ourselves. The hotel was not very full when we visited, but there were enough people to give the place a nice social feel. Guests were, in the main, middle aged or older people — with a few young families too. The gardens are extremely well-maintained and the beach is also kept very clean, with a constant security presence. As with previous visits to the island (it was our first stay at Spice Island), we took the local bus into St George’s — filling the small vehicle with 16 other people. It’s more comfortable in a taxi, but this is fun, and of course very cheap. In summary, we love Spice Island Resort: in fact, we decided that it is our new favourite. We hope to return soon. All the staff go the extra mile to make your stay memorable. The food was very good never had the same evening meal twice in two weeks . Every thing is cooked to order and brought to your table with a smile. I would highly recommend this hotel and Granada glad we went many thanks to all the staff Read less

Not sure why my review was not posted on Trip Advisor--wrote it months ago but must have pressed the wrong button. My wife and I stayed at Spice Island Beach Resort for the third time in February and have already booked for next year. This all-inclusive hotel has everything a tourist would like. Excellent accommodations, wonderful food throughout the day, access to a beautiful and clean beach and friendly but not over-powering service from a very well-trained staff. The over-riding key ingredient is the ever-watchful eye of the ownership in the form of Sir Royston Hopkin and his family/team. Many guests return year after year and this for a good reason--what better recommendation. It would be wrong to name just one member of staff as each and every employee contributes to the guests' enjoyment. Looking forward to returning next February. Read less

The rooms, we had a Seagrape Beach front suite but had a look in others just for a comparison before we re-book, all are to a superior standard with everything you could wish for. The location is beautiful and each morning we walked the beach before breakfast. The staff are lead actively and very ably from the top by Sir Royston Hopkin and are the most obliging group of people you could ever wish to meet. Everyone there is just so friendly and have a genuine warmth about them and truly want your stay to be special. Read less
