An amazing experience. Yes, the quality of food and range of menus is excellent, yes the Seagrape Suites are beautiful and comfortable, yes the design and ambience of the intimate hotel is excellent ..... but above all, the staff team culture is quite remarkable, from the owner Sir Royston and family (who meet, greet and often eat with guests), through all managers and team leaders right to the wonderful people who serve at table, clean the beach and pool, give advice from the desk, mix and serve the drinks, clean the suites and grounds. We enjoy good quality food around the globe, and we were impressed with the range, flavourings, presentation and tastes of so many of the dishes during our stay. Our two weeks enjoying the setting, the ambience and the daily-changing menu has been one of our best holidays, and no wonder many of the guests are returners....... now we’ve discovered the resort for ourselves we will be back too ere long. It’s not a crazy party scene. It’s quiet with local artists playing in the evening. So, if you’re looking for a beautiful resort, wonderful selection of food and the best staff, I think you found it!! Read less

Spice Island has amazing charm! The hotel is stunning, and the Grand Anse beach it sits on is the most beautiful we have seen. When we arrived, we had a lovely warm welcome and were shown to our room which was a Seagrape Suite. Unfortunately we had a faulty and loud air conditioning unit, but reception staff were very speedy when we told them and helped us move to another room just down the beach. The Seagrape suites are stunning, so gorgeous and tastefully decorated with the location in mind. You are steps away from the beach and that in itself is worth the room! It took us a while to get used to this part of the hotel not being private, anyone can walk by your room from the street or sit outside (quite rightly as the beach is public) but it felt a bit exposed for us. The food was all great, including breakfast which had a good selection of cooked options. We felt after a week there that the lunch and dinner options were a bit repetitive, but no complaints on standard as all very good. We are quite laid back eaters so were happy to try squid (tentacles arrived hanging off the plate kind of squid, not deep fried with chilli sauce..!) and rabbit (which was amazing!) but think it would be good to have a few crowd pleasers on there for the more reserved eater, seeing it’s your only option. We are in our early thirties, and were definitely the minority as “younger” travellers. We wanted a chilled break so this was fine for us, but don’t expect a party or atmosphere around the pool as it’s not that kind of place. We want to give a shout out to Micheal who worked around the pool. He is a lovely kind friendly man who we hope has been promoted since we visited, excellent customer service and he took so much pride in his work. Finally, it would be great to see the staff show a bit more personality too. They all looked like they had studied afternoon tea service at the Ritz for 10 years, instead of being able to show some of their fun Grenadian personality which we caught glimpses off! More natural service would mean a more authentic experience! That’s our opinion though, and am sure the hotel wants guest to feel old world charm. All in all, a brilliant magical place in a stunning setting! Read less

I’m well traveled and have stayed in some of the finest places in the world. The Ritz Carlton has nothing on this resort. Spice Island is closer to a Four Seasons or Peninsula Hotels Group, possibly better. Let me start with the service. From the small things in the room, the food, atmosphere, to everyone knowing you by name and learning your likes and dislikes. The owner is on site and is friendly and greets everyone. There is only about 60 rooms. Beach is public but always feels private because not many people at all. This is one of the prettiest if not the prettiest beaches I’ve ever seen. From the turquoise blue water you see massive mountains and rain forest and the colorful town of St George with homes up the hillside and yachts and sailboats in the bay afar. All of this is viewed from a serene beach. You will get waited on for bar service and whatever you’d like from the resort. The chef will make anything you request even if not on the menu. Live music for a variety of taste 3 to 4 nights a week. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety the resort shop had in terms of styles and sizes. This resort is laid back, 5 star and relaxed just like we like but only a short 5 minute walk or 10 minute drive to parties all night everyday if that’s what your looking for. We were in beachfront room 11 on the beach which was lovely but were upgraded to room 23 with the vow renewal package. This is not on the beach but had a private pool. The walk way to the beach was right beside this room and you got a small beach view on your private enclosed pool deck. Here are the differences in the two rooms besides the price: you get your own private pool and enclosed porch only steps from the beach but not on the beach. You get larger Molton Brown amenities, the mattress was softer, you get a bidet, larger soaking tub. There is a soaking tub in beachfront room but not as big. A soft mattress is huge for me so this was a big part of my experience. The mattress was soft in beachfront room but not as soft. I like to sink right in a very nice mattress. The beachfront room did have a patio, seating on sand and hammock but not large private enclosed area with a large 6’ deep pool in center. There is so much to do in Grenada. Too much to list. I will say the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen in my life was at the top of Lake Antonine. You have to see it. Everyone should see it before they die. You see beaches, cliffs, white, sand, black sand, volcanos, lakes and mountains coming out to ocean for many miles. One day everyone will know of this place and Grenada. See it before that happens.
