True Blue Bay Boutique Resort

Grenada, Caribbean

The hotel

There’s something special about staying in a family run hotel. It adds an air of authenticity, a warmer kind of welcome, and little extras which bigger hotels might just forget about. That’s what you get with True Blue Bay Boutique Resort. The owners know just what you need for a stay on this south coast bay, and they include family musts like a kids' club, local touches like cooking classes and rum tasting, free treats like Hobie cats, ocean kayaks and yoga classes. They even run a complimentary shuttle to Grand Anse Beach, BBC Beach in Morne Rouge and Aquarium Beach in Point Salines. Designing the hotel themselves, the Fielden family have added Caribbean touches throughout, as well as those things you’d only expect from a big-name hotel, including two pools, a spa, a PADI-certified dive centre and 24-hour room service.

The staff were very friendly and accommodative. The entire resort was quite small and cute but we loved that it was a tight knit family owned, it gave it more of an authentic stay. Our stay included breakfast which was amazing, especially if you love Caribbean food. The only disadvantage were the birds in the morning that had to be shoo'd away but that's nature for you! There was entertainment every night available with dinner. There were two different types of pools, one mimics a beach and one a regular swimming pool. The closest store is about 10minute walk from the hotel otherwise there is a massive supermarket opposite the beach which you can catch the shuttle bus to. I would recommend renting a car to get around to explore the island but we were quite lucky as my boyfriend has family in Grenada who took us around the island. Read less

This was my 2nd trip to Grenada. I visited the island many years before, pre hurricane Ivan. We spent 8 glorious days at this hotel which I absolutely loved! The check in process was a bit slow but we did arrive early. We had to wait on the vehicke rental a while because we thought while we waited we could have gone for a short drive while the room was being prepared. We were offered some refreshments & breakfast from the restaurant while we waited and all was well. This was my 40th birthday trip & had requested a special decorative welcome as I had seen done for previous guests but there was none. I did not bother because I was hot & sweaty. Just wanted to shower and relax. I didn't inform management either but I did make notice of this. The rest of our stay was very good. Food delish and had daily turn down & maid service. The restaurant staff was amazing as I looked forward to it every morning. We had an issue with the vehicle rental company, Sanvics and I vowed to never rent from them again. Also had a few friends going to visit & stay at the hotel and advised them not to patronise Sanvics. The weekly food fair the hotel hosts was a bit confusing. Not my cup of tea but the entertainment was good. All in all, the hotel's location and staff were wonderful & amazing. Read less

The night we tried to check in, we called ahead of time and were told that despite no previous notice, the hotel was completely full and had no rooms for us. They offered to house us in apartments at a different location, but would not provide transportation and refused to have any manager speak to us until the next morning. We will NOT be staying here in the future!! Beware of not having a place to stay the night of your arrival! Read less

A really lovely hotel, great bar and restaurant with different menus every night. Lovely pools and friendly staff. Only negatives- breakfast not great and the gym bike and cross trainer were ancient and unsafe.

We ate at the restaurant I believe the name was doggy dock. The fritters on the menu was an appetizer were great, The food was good but the service was slow. The drinks were just okay. I am not sure of the quality of the liquor. We paid an extra $80 for all inclusive which was worth it. It is $1 Canadian for every $3EC. Our bill for dinner was $300EC so the $80 for all inclusive was totally worth it. We also ate breakfast. The birds were a bit annoying so you have to cover your plates with your napkins. The fruit was very tasty. Overall it was nice. The service was good as well except at dinner. They have pet cats. The couple that own it are lovely. Their boutique is also good and not overpriced. It is also close to the airport. You need to arrange your own taxi though to the resort. The beach is trolley small and part of the resort is on a small marina, you can arrange boat rides from that marina. Read less
