We stayed in the Villas for my cousin's 50th birthday. The friendly staff, ample amenities and beautiful grounds made for a good break for us all. I also appreciated that even though there was construction on the grounds, the hotel had made arrangements to minimize any possible inconveniences.

Half Moon is absolutely the best resort in Jamaica. The staff are without fail friendly, welcoming and always eager to make the trip enjoyable. The new rooms are spacious, modern and only a few steps from a beautiful beach. The staff will ferry you around in golf carts if the walk to the lobby is too far but walking around the gardens is the best. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean. You feel and are 100% safe walking around the grounds and in your room. This is a very special place. There are several great places to eat but for Dinner the Sugar Mill is hands down the finest dining around. The wait staff could work at the finest restaurant in any large US city. The chef prepares modern cuisine to suit any guests preferences. The Sugar Mill truly is an excellent experience. Finally, the General Manager is always walking around the resort and asking guests if there is anything she can do to make your vacation better. This is a family owned resort that competes with the big chains but they’re doing a wonderful job for their guests and are working hard to make it even better. Read less

I always enjoy my time at Halfmoon Resort, but Denesha at the Fern Tree Spa made this trip incredible. Ask for her by name for massages, you won’t be disappointed and your stress will melt away. I will certainly be back!

We rented one of the villas during our stay. The villa was beautiful and we had a lovely cook and housekeeper that took care of us while we were there. As a mom, my favorite thing was probably going home with a suitcase of clean clothes! While my experience was nice and mostly enjoyable I did have some issues. It seems that we traveled during their 'off season' and the hotel neglected to tell us that some of the things that they advertise on their site would not be available. I did get very upset about one item in particular where I felt like they did not care to fix their service issue. We signed up for the beach barbecue - there was supposed to be 'fire eaters, crab racing, and dancers'. This was expensive and the food was ok. None of the entertainment described was provided and we might as well have bought the groceries to have our cook make the food that night (she was a better cook than the meal we had). The hotel offered to reduce the rate slightly but it didn't even come close to what we would have paid having the cook make the meal. I was very disappointed in the resort. We also were missing some things that were promised up front and had to ask for them (gift baskets, etc). For this type of luxury resort and the amount of money we spent I would have expected better service. I would also note that the villas do not have central air conditioning so it is very hot to spend time in the living room area as a family. Read less
