Just returned from a 10-day stay at Half Moon and we absolutely hated to leave! The safe bubble that is Jamaica felt like such a gift as the world around us was growing more chaotic. Tourism is going to take such a big hit that it breaks my heart to know how this will affect so many. The staff all over the resort was so friendly and so accommodating that we really felt like a part of their family. From the landscapers to the bartenders, to the housekeepers, they always went out of their way to do special things~ climbing for fresh coconuts or staying open longer because the night was too lovely to end. They truly were/are the best! The scenery is gorgeous, the rooms are spacious and clean, the food is tasty, the drinks aplenty and nightly music to set the mood. The vibe is just so chill ~ Fern Tree Spa is where my husband and I spent a lot of time. Karlene was my locker room attendant and always had some fruit or a flower for my hair at the ready after my treatments. Lovely! Massage therapists, Deneesha and Primrose, took the very best care of us and always went above and beyond to give us the most amazing experiences! I can't recommend them enough! We have so much love for those women who not only gave us multiple relaxing massages day after day but captured our hearts too! We cannot wait to return:) Read less

We booked a 5 bedroom villa for about $5,000 per night, and arrived to essentially what became uncovering a scam bait and switch. I have this all on video and have released it to industry authorities and will be on social media. We literally were told every excuse why our 5-bedroom unit was unavailable, in chronological order: 1) "You didn't order a 5 bedroom, we have a 3 bedroom" to 2) "You actually ordered a 2 bedroom but we upgraded you to 3 bedroom" to 3) "The 5 bedroom unit is undergoing renovations, but we forget to tell you this when checking in" to 4) "Because of conoravirus, the government called and told us that you can't be in contact with housekeepers so we have to move you a to a 4 bedroom" [4 BEDROOMS NOW? WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?] 5) "We made an assumption since it's only 3 people that you would be fine with a 4 bedroom" [WHAT? SO NOW YOU'RE ADMITTING THIS WHOLE THING WAS A LIE] to "Actually, we have the 5 bedroom villa you ordered available, I will take you to it." This was disgusting how many lies were made up in order to cover for the reality of the bait and switch they pulled. At the end, the general manager lied 3 times to our face (I have this on VIDEO) and at the end admitted that she lied about the coronavirus reasoning and actually just made a purposeful assumption that we would be okay with a 3 bedroom). Everything was a lie. Read less

Just got back from a week at Eclipse. I just saw the resort will be closing till May as a result of the decrease in travel. My heart goes out to all the wonderful people we met at the resort. Here is my review. Rooms were fantastic. Obviously new. We had a 1 bedroom villa suite. It was on bottom floor with amazing patio, living room and 1.5 baths. Being new everything was spotless. The beds super comfortable. Easily the nicest place I have stayed in Jamaica. Since we come once a year and have tried many of the resorts I can tell you this with certainty. Service Not only the best service I have ever had in Jamaica, but maybe the beat I have ever had anywhere I have traveled. On the beach I must shout out Regina. She literally would run when there was no reason to. She knew when you needed something before you did. Cup of ice, another drink, more water, food. You name it. I cannot say enough about how did it all non stop and always with a smile. Do not miss the jerk shack on property. First, you’ll get to meet Jackie, charlton and the gang. By the end of the trip they were family. I looked forward to eating lunch and hanging out with them. The food was amazing. As close as one gets to scotchies without actually going there. Jackie and charlton put a smile on my face every single day. I hope they know how much that meant to me. Next the Italian/seafood restaurant on site. Francisco and Gavin were tremendous. So eager to please and so great with the recommendations. From the cool drinks to the special orders of food. Everything was perfect. Thank you both for taking such great care of us. Honestly as I hope you can see, I can’t say enough about how great the service was. I really have no complaints only suggestions. First, there needs to be another more formal dinner spot on the immediate property. There really is only the Italian/seafood spot then two bars with way more casual food. Yes you can shuttle over to spice mill but sometimes you just don’t want to go through all of that. The property has plenty of room and restaurants not being used. It would be a huge step up for food. The buffet to me is a waste. You don’t come to a place like this and spend this kind of money to go to a buffet. Please rethink the strategy. Second, there just needs to be something more in the evening. They do have music earlier in the night but if you eat dinner at 7/8 by the time you are done there is literally nothing left to do. The exception seems to be Sat night and also the beach bbq nights. Third, the gym. It just needs a redo. Size is right but a lot of the equipment is old. The tv’s don’t work etc. the tennis courts and the spa is so great, it wouldn’t take much to upgrade and it really needs it. Fourth, we toured the villas just to see if it made sense in the future to potentially rent one. They are so old and not well kept. They need a remodel desperately if you ask me. I wouldn’t stay in one. This resort could literally be one of the best in the Caribbean but it’s a little like a tale of two resorts. There is the new area which is like 25 percent of the place which is upgraded and So nice yet the rest of the resort is in need of real upgrades at the same time. One more thing about the new area. I know I have read in the upgrades about the pool being adults only and it even says that on the website but it just isn’t the case. There were kids everywhere in that pool. Nobody was bothering them at all or asking them to leave. Seems like whatever rule it started with is no longer in effect. I gave it 4 stars and not 5 because it’s so close to perfect but when you start charging the prices you are for the new area, you must be perfect on the little things and also have the right selection of restaurants etc. Last, i went to the front desk to try and book for holiday this year and they couldn’t help me. They said i needed to call the reservation number or send an email. I did that and provided my dates. I still don’t have pricing or availability and it has been a week. To me that’s a huge miss. I’m on site, happy and ready to book and I felt like being pushed to reservations where a week later I still don’t have answers is a bit of a miss. I don’t mean to nitpick as I did love the place and I will definitely be back but this review is about of love because with a few tweaks this could really be best place in all of the Caribbean. One love Read less

My son was delighted with the three golf courses. Disappointed there were only two good restaurants. However, the Half Moon is gorgeous, the staff are truly wonderful and the amenities excellent. We were upgraded and each had a sea view suite which was marvellous. I would definitely return.
