The hotel

Lying on a beautiful, long stretch of private beach, this tropical resort is situated in 400 lush acres of an 18th-century sugar plantation. There’s a large main swimming pool, but everyone (kids' especially) loves the Sugar Mill Falls Waterpark, which is the largest in Jamaica. Why not grab a tube and float down the ‘lazy river’ or try one of the slides. Water sports are available from the brand new beach, overlooking the sparkling Caribbean Sea. There’s also a daily kids' club, leaving you with time to recharge in the full-service spa, or why not try out the Championship golf course, tennis and the popular aerobics classes. A variety of restaurant options with fine dining and sophisticated wine lists are on-site. The most romantic restaurant is the Three Palms, up on the hillside looking down over the hotel and the sea beyond.

Our flight was cancelled and we were given the opportunity to stay an additional night in Jamaica. I was pleasantly surprised when we found out we were staying at a Hilton. Although we only stayed 1 night, here are a few observations: The lobby is beautiful and we were excited to see they had a coffee bar. They had great entertainment that night (steel drum band). The beach was small and some portions are very rocky. The resort had an abundance of children all who seemed to really be enjoying themselves. It had a few water slides, lazy river and a smaller main pool. The food was average as we only ate at the indoor main buffet. The rooms were a standard hotel room, the carpet in the hallways is musty and dirty and needs to be replaced. Read less

Location: Hilton Rose Hall is Located about 15-20 Minutes From the Airport. Approximately 1.45 hr bus ride to Dunn's Falls. Check in and Check out was a breeze and friendly. Rooms: Basic Hotel Rooms with Small Bathroom. Slightly dated. Clean. A bit Humid and Musty. Our room was up high and furthest from the beach and not facing the golf corse. Could barely see the water. Would have preferred a better beach or at least face the golf corse. Resort and Property: Lobby is nice. Hallways to rooms has nasty carpet that needs replaced. Elevators are slow and did not work properly the entire trip. There is one basic nice Pool that does not have a swim up bar. And, a lazy river that has a swim up bar. The "waterpark" is three slides. The lazy river is very pretty. The beach is not clean. trash and seaweed everywhere and they do no comb the beach. We did see them try to rake the seaweed one day, but they just left it sit in piles on the beach. Do not expect beautiful blue clear water. Food/Bar/Staff: Food is typical for most resorts. Breakfast is the best meal. Also, the pizza on the beach for lunch is good. The bars are terrible at best. And, the bartenders were so rude. I once ordered a drink and the bartender said "oh god" and rolled her eyes. And, the older lady with blue/green eye shadow at the bar where the pizza place is apparently hates her job. Also, if you ordered a drink that did not come straight out of the tap or machine they did not want to make it and it never tasted the same. Expect to wait in lines for drinks. Don't order a Mojito, they apparently do not like to make those and usually say they are out of limes and can't make it. You will not experience service typical of resorts. Every now and then someone might come by and see if you need a drink or food, but don't count on it. For me, the service and attitudes of the staff greatly left a negitave mark of my opinion on this place. There isn't a lot to do at this resort so it would be best suited for a quick trip. Also would not recommend for kids. I think they would become bored very easily and quickly. It isn't an awful place but the word Resort is a bit misleading. It is a Hotel with a few resort amenities. Bottom line was It didn't meet the expectations of Hilton for me. I don't regret going there, but also would chose someplace else in the future. The weather was beautiful the entire time we were there. Sunny, warm and pleasant breeze. Read less

I found better deals on trip advisor. The gift shop items were more expensive than at the airport. The night club was mostly empty, went there one night for about 30 mins. Overall my stay was great, will be going back soon. Read less

This hotel is nice, the staff is friendly and professional. The food is inedible. If you stay here bring snacks, or prepare to buy them from the commissary. The pool, outdoor amenities and excellent staff made up for the food. But good god, going a weekend eating essentially nothing on a vacation was rough.
