Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Virgin rating

The hotel

Lying on a beautiful, long stretch of private beach, the Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa sits within 400 lush acres and is home to an 18th-century sugar plantation. A popular feature here is the iconic swimming pool but guests (kids' especially) also love the Sugar Mill Falls Waterpark, which is the largest in Jamaica. Why not grab a tube and float down the ‘lazy river’ or try one of the slides. There’s also a daily kids' club, leaving you with time to recharge in the full-service spa, or why not try out the Championship golf course. A variety of restaurant options with fine dining and sophisticated wine lists are on-site, with the newly renovated Rum Factory a particular hit, as is the Three Palms, overlooking the beautifully landscaped golf course.

Just got back - travelled with my two kids aged 4 and 2 and four grandparents. Everyone had a blast and we would return! Food: Food options are incredible; buffet always had something for everyone. Dinner had an Indian station which worked well for my in laws. Outside dining at the buffet for dinner during shows was a great experience. Shout out to Terrance! For a la carte, We dined at mangoes for lunch which was good and the rum factory and seaside grill for dinner; was fine but i preferred the buffet for the authentic Jamaican cuisine. Lots of kids options around; moonstone had pizza everyday and mangoes had grilled cheese and nuggets. You could eat poolside; the service from the bartenders and waiters by the pool was amazing. Shout out to Aston! The coffee shop was a great stop for ice cream, fruits, iced coffee, Frappuccino’s and snacks. Jerk hut was also a big hit! Anyone who complains about food here has unrealistic expectations lol 😂 there was something for everyone at all times with a lot of variety. Making dinner reservations for a la carte was not hard on our first day of arrival. Entertainment: The magic show, steel pan night, Michael Jackson show and the fire performer / circus night were all amazing!! everyone enjoyed watching and it was great entertainment and fun for the family. Pool and waterpark: We never did the big pool because of our kids but looked like a good time. The water park was amazing; I can see how some May say it’s small and just has a couple slides. There’s no splash pad or anything which may improve the waterpark experience but we had a great time. We always found floats in the lazy river. Rooms: Basic hotel room; nothing fancy. Yes some walls are scratched up here and there but we used the room to sleep and that’s about it. It met our needs. If you want a fancy room and plan to stay in the room for a large portion of your trip, probably not the place for you. Beach: If you want large white sand blue water beach vibes , go to Negril! We didn’t spend much time here as my kids are pool bunnies but it wasn’t anything to write home about. We went in the water once and it was clear and soft once you passed the first little bit of seaweed. Club Mobay at the airport: Used this on our departure back home and worth every Penny to get away from the airport crowds and have a place for my kids to play (they have a playroom with toddler toys and also a room to play PlayStation). Food was good All in all a great experience with my family and we would return! Read less

This place is amazing!!! My family (2 adults, 1 child (3 yrs old)) & my sister in laws family (2 adults, 2 children) visited the resort the week of Nov 26th. We had an absolutely amazing time. The resort is a small-medium sized resort but it does not feel like that. Everything feels very well spaced out and convenient. The feeling of being somewhere beautiful, not many ppl around, and luxury was amazing. Great moments: 1) On our last day (Saturday) it got busier due to the seasonality of things. The elevator was full.... when it reached our floor 2 staff members came out and we went in. The staff members volunteered to take the next elevator so we didn't have to wait. WOW. who does that nowadays? 2) The food was amazing as well. We were told by the buffet staff that if they didn't serve the food we wanted (IE something from yday or before), we could ask our server to place an order. We placed an order for Hash Browns (very similar to MCD) and of course, they delivered them to us. I cannot say enough about this place as the staff were always so welcoming and genuinely cared. I do wonder if it was the timing of us as they were just JUST entering their busy season. Our family will be returning one day. Not sure when, but it won't be soon enough. Thank you Hilton for the wonderful 7 day vacation. Andrew & Family Read less

For a brit first time in Jamaica, the Hilton offered an excellent welcome experience. We did tours to Negril, Dunns River Falls and Martha Brae rafting, all booked through the hotel. Booked from UK on all inclusive, but we did feel obliged to tip regularly. Resort pool areas were spot on, lazy river and 2 water slides gave plenty of variety. All in all we had a great holiday. We stayed at this resort for a week over thanksgiving. Being a Hilton rewards member, I expected much more out of this resort. I later learned that although the name “Hilton” is on the sign, it is actually managed by another company entirely. Check in was chaotic. We signed up for the butler service but no one greeted us or helped us (as advertised) with the room accommodations we had asked for in advance (roll away bed). The food was mediocre and if you have any food allergies, there is not a lot of accommodations they can make for you, nor did we trust the information provided for us when we asked for options for our daughter (egg and dairy allergies). We were told to stay away from the cheese and eggs, for example, at the buffet. The most concerning part, and driver for the low rating, happened at the evening entertainment event titled “Native Showcase”. On this night, some local artists had set up tables around where we were enjoying the music and buffet so we could purchase local items such as bracelets and keychains. Our kids, ages 7 and 11, went up to one of the vendors with about $10. When our daughter asked about the price of something, I heard the lady ask how much she had. When my daughter said she had $10, the lady told her to go away. Ok fine, I thought, there are other vendors there we can purchase from. However, as we turned around I watched the woman grab two small bags of white powder out of her bag and then hand them to the other vendor who was apparently going to try and sell them. This happening in front of my children at a “family resort” was outrageous to me. The positives I will add was that once we were in touch with our butlers, they were amazing. “G” and Melissa were wonderful and so sweet. The entertainment was awesome at night and the games throughout the day were fun. Read less
