Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall

Montego Bay, Jamaica

The hotel

Following a multi-million dollar renovation, the All Inclusive Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall offers a huge range of room options, all with gorgeous views of the surrounding tropical gardens or the ocean. You can even choose a room with direct pool access or upgrade to Club Level for special privileges. Tucked between the mountains and the sea, it’s hailed as a paradise of rest, relaxation and recreation and rightly so! Prepare yourself for 'Service from the Heart!' — a genuine warm Jamaican welcome and service with a smile. For something a little special, head to the spa for a relaxing massage or body wrap. Whilst you do, the kids can play with other youngsters at their very own club, building sandcastles or getting stuck into some arts and crafts. With regards to restaurants, you’ll find plenty on your doorstep — at the Ziva, there’s a whole range of world cuisines to choose from! Visit Italy one night, Brazil the next and Asia when the mood takes you. We doubt very much you’ll be homesick but if you are, head to Union Jack’z — an English tavern that not only serves pub favourites but also features live music too. Alternatively, sip on cocktails on the rooftop at the Moroccan-inspired Fez.

Great trip both times. There is a facebook group for this resort which you may also find helpful in gaining info specific to it from guests. Read less

I will preface my review by saying I am not typically keen on staying at all-inclusive resorts as I find they lack in many areas, and a 5 star is never truly a 5 star when its an all-inclusive. However, that being said, we did have a pleasant stay with the Hyatt Ziva and would recommend it. This resort is quite vast stretched along a beachfront bay on the Northern side of the island. Because it is on the Atlantic side of the island, the ocean tends to be more wavy and windy than what you would find on the Caribbean Sea. There is a large pool with plenty of lounge chairs and a small stretch of beach to enjoy on the family-side of the resort. The beach is decent for being on the Atlantic side. They have done a good job to make great use with what they had and have created a stone wall to break the wave allowing children to wade in the beach safely. There are plenty of loungers and palapas with daybeds for daily use ($). One of the reasons my husband and I don’t travel often at inclusive resorts is due to the food. We often find the quality lacks when serving it to the masses for an all-inclusive price. That being said, we were very pleased with the selection and quality at the Hyatt Ziva. The buffet was plentiful and fresh and the a la carte options were quite delicious. I don’t feel as if the food quality was compromised for being an all-inclusive resort. All of our meals were excellent and we were never left disappointed. Overall, the resort checked all boxes with service, functionality and room comfort. I didn’t necessarily find the resort ‘beautiful’ per-se or unique from others in any regard, but it was exactly what I expected for an all-inclusive property. Read less

I'll start with the good. One of our children has several food allergies, and this place was extremely conscientious. They took the issue very seriously and made necessary accommodations. Also, the property was very well kept with beautiful grounds. On the downside, the quality of service was very split. Approximately 45% of the staff were very good or excellent, while the other 55% were sub par to awful. Additionally, there were a series of issues (some caused by the booking department as opposed to the people working onsite at the property) related to our room reservation and onsite placement. We were there for our honeymoon and did not receive the caliber of room we had been promised. The problem was compounded when they moved us to a room with broken fixtures in the bathroom that still did not meet to standard of what had been promised. The other challenges we faced were about unanticipated supply needs. For a family resort, their store was poorly stocked. It would have been great to avoid traveling to the local shopping area two miles away at the expense of $40 (USD). On our way out, they attempted to ameliorate our concerns by reimbursing us for one of the cabanas we rented. That helped a little. Read less
