The hotel

Following a multi-million dollar renovation, the All Inclusive Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall offers a huge range of room options, all with gorgeous views of the surrounding tropical gardens or the ocean. You can even choose a room with direct pool access or upgrade to Club Level for special privileges. Tucked between the mountains and the sea, it’s hailed as a paradise of rest, relaxation and recreation and rightly so! Prepare yourself for 'Service from the Heart!' — a genuine warm Jamaican welcome and service with a smile. For something a little special, head to the spa for a relaxing massage or body wrap. Whilst you do, the kids can play with other youngsters at their very own club, building sandcastles or getting stuck into some arts and crafts. With regards to restaurants, you’ll find plenty on your doorstep — at the Ziva, there’s a whole range of world cuisines to choose from! Visit Italy one night, Brazil the next and Asia when the mood takes you. We doubt very much you’ll be homesick but if you are, head to Union Jack’z — an English tavern that not only serves pub favourites but also features live music too. Alternatively, sip on cocktails on the rooftop at the Moroccan-inspired Fez.

We came for a family wedding. It was a very nice experience. Staff was friendly, food and drink were good and there was lots to do on the resort. We enjoyed the pool and the beach area. The resort staff was very attentive.

Some of the staff at the bars and pool seemed annoyed when asking them for service. Some were unprofessional and may need more training or something. Overall good stay but could be better for the price of this location.

We love Hyatt properties, however this was not a favorite. Did we have a great time?Yes! 2 adults and an 8 year old. We stayed in Room 3404 and that's where I'll start. The room is the farthest to the right of the property as it can get and as far from the elevators as they come. The room is a Ocean Front Junior Suite and although it's on the water, the view wasn't great at all. Right below our room was rocks and there was a large tree right in front of us. Also, there is no light on the balcony so once the sun set's it's pitch black and made it hard to enjoy in the evenings. The ideal ocean front rooms are in building 2. The room itself is great. Spacious and clean although still had a slight musty smell. They didn't stock our shower with shampoo etc till day 5 and only stocked the minibar once after we asked them to. We called down for Doritos one day and they never came. That seemed to be the theme. If you asked for something, they would say ok, but then it never happened. On our first day, we needed a roll away bed ( which turned out to be great for our 8 year old ) but had to call down 4 times for them to finally bring it around 9pm. The pool was very nice. It doesn't connect to the upper pool which I found slightly strange as all the activity was in the upper pool. No matter what time we came out in the morning every seat around the upper pool was reserved. Unsure if that is what the butler service is for. So we never once even used the upper pool. The pool chairs are so hard and uncomfortable you need a extra towel to sit on. We walked up to the poor bar once and they were blatantly annoyed and said they closed at 6pm. It was 5:50 and they wouldn't serve us. We didn't try again. We did sit down by the pool, closest to Calypso and the staff was great. We really go to know the entertainment staff. Shout out to Lanasha, Travis, Marvin and Corey. They were so fun and enjoyable. we played a lot of pool volleyball, ping pong and cornhole with them! (They were also all great during the evenings entertainment too ) Deandra was our waitress by the pool most days and she was amazing. Hottub: 2/10. Ziva has two but one is cold and no one ever was in it. The one that is hot has the hardest, jaggedy rocks that you sit on making it uncomfortable. Beach: With kids on Ziva side your only option is the closed in area. It's beautiful but super small. It would have been nice to also have a little piece of actual beach to use like Zilara. Buffett: Breakfast was good, other than that hard pass Calyspso: Was closed and I wish we knew that ahead of time as it really limited us for dinner with kids Fuzion: Great, we ate here 3 times ( again, we were limited ) but enjoyed it each time. The first time we sat the server said there was no kids menu at all and kids just had to order plain chicken, plain shrimp or rice. Second time, our server got her buttered noodles . Italian: It was fine. Server seems slightly annoyed to be there but food was ok. French: On our first day another guest said to avoid it but it turned out to be our absolute favorite! We ate at Union Jacks on our last day and "Ricky" was so rude. Not to use, but a woman next to us. She was from the south and he lectured her about speaking more clearly. It was insane. Food was good but took over an hour to come out. Sweetz: stopped here every night for popcorn, ice cream or a sweet. Staff were great. Coffee shop in lobby was also great. Iced coffee was delicious and staff were so sweet! The Gym: It's fine. If you have been to the Hyatt in the DR you will be disappointed in this gym The game room was closed ( Also we didn't know this ahead of time ) Entertainment was the best part of the trip. From the fire guy, to the Illusionist ( so amazing, Infuzion band and the Michael Jackson show.... we loved it all. We didn't do any excursions because they are very expensive and some 1 1/2-3 hours away and to just go into town it was $20 a person for a 5 mile ride. All in all we had a great time, but would we go back? No. The resort is older, not well laid out and some staff made you feel like you were a huge bother to them. We didn't use Club Mobay and honestly I'm glad we saved that money. On arrival we were to the resort probably 45 min after landing and Departure to our gate within 25 min. Super easy. We did use Amstar for transportation and our driver: Marquis was amazing. Kerry Ann made departure a breeze also. Read less

After painful and long flights to get to Jamaica I was blown away with Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall. Upon entering my room everything was immediately worth it. This was the best resort I have stayed and will be back one day with my family
