Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall

Montego Bay, Jamaica

The hotel

Following a multi-million dollar renovation, the All Inclusive Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall offers a huge range of room options, all with gorgeous views of the surrounding tropical gardens or the ocean. You can even choose a room with direct pool access or upgrade to Club Level for special privileges. Tucked between the mountains and the sea, it’s hailed as a paradise of rest, relaxation and recreation and rightly so! Prepare yourself for 'Service from the Heart!' — a genuine warm Jamaican welcome and service with a smile. For something a little special, head to the spa for a relaxing massage or body wrap. Whilst you do, the kids can play with other youngsters at their very own club, building sandcastles or getting stuck into some arts and crafts. With regards to restaurants, you’ll find plenty on your doorstep — at the Ziva, there’s a whole range of world cuisines to choose from! Visit Italy one night, Brazil the next and Asia when the mood takes you. We doubt very much you’ll be homesick but if you are, head to Union Jack’z — an English tavern that not only serves pub favourites but also features live music too. Alternatively, sip on cocktails on the rooftop at the Moroccan-inspired Fez.

I highly recommend choosing this hotel to stay in when visiting beautiful Jamaica. The staff, food and overall experience made this holiday one I will never forget. Everyday felt like a luxurious dream and I am looking very forward to return next year!

I highly recommend Hyatt Ziva Rose as a vacation location. The staff was very polite and every place you walked you were great with a hello and a smile. There are various types of food, from chicken wings to steak. The resort is clean, the rooms are lean and very comfortable. I am looking forward to a return trip.

I stayed at this hotel as I was meeting family from the States. This was their choice, not mine based on the fact they have a toddler and thought it would be best suited to his needs. But they couldn't have been more wrong! The common areas inside the hotel are dated and in need of a major overhaul. If, like me, you assumed the rooms would be the same, you are going to be surprised and relieved. The rooms have had some work or at least the one I was in. Mine was an enormous room booked as part of the Butler suite package and had been modernised. It was perfectly nice, if a little soulless. The hotel is so enormous that you have long walks along numerous long passages to get anywhere. My family were two long corridors away even though I had called ahead and asked for us to be nearby. The pool was very large and extremely noisy. The sunbeds were uncomfortable and nasty. The pool was cleaned until fairly late each morning (ie after 9 which is late when there are toddlers in the party) so they couldn't go in until afterwards. There were often loud competitions and parties with microphones and other horrors. On the grassy area outside my room, a blow-up slide, foam, speakers, loud music often appeared and put paid to any afternoon siesta. Not even the toddler could enjoy those afternoons as he was too young. There were a few restaurants which were ok. They opened at 6pm in the evening which was around 30 minutes later than we wanted (that toddler again). That said, the waiting staff were all very nice and helpful. Both of our rooms had butlers but they were entirely unhelpful. Nice people but whatever we asked for the answer seemed to be no. Not like the lovely helpful people I was used to in Antigua who answered "certainly" to every request. They did not help with restaurant bookings or provide information when the restaurants were closed. As far as I could tell, they were pretty much only good for saving a couple of uncomfortable beds by the pool in the morning and getting towels. Worst of all is the Hyatt central phone system. I called ahead and asked for a room near my family (see above). The message was not passed on to the hotel. But I also asked for a late checkout which I was assured I would get. Again, the hotel knew nothing of it so my last day was a mess. You can't find a number to call the hotel direct so this is the only method of contacting them. For a 5 star hotel it was appalling. So in summary, noisy, pleasant but soulless rooms, dated communal areas, unhelpful butlers, average food and very much not 5 star. Not sure which age group this would suit but we were too old for the noise and the toddler was too young for pretty much everything. I wouldn't stay there again anyway. There have to be better options for any age. Read less

The property and the staff at Hyatt Ziva were excellent! Our favorite waiter was Floyd in the Calypso restaurant . The food at the Asian Fuzion restaurant was our favorite, the salmon was excellent!! The ladies at the excursion tour desk were all very helpful. The only tour I would not recommend was the private shopping tour. It was suggested we do the private shopping tour ($80 for 2 hours for 2 people) because we were looking for specific artwork and the guide could take us to find just what we were looking for. Instead, our driver Dexter took us to the craft market . Mainly T-shirt’s , keychains and magnets etc. then he took us to the Hip Strip where it was all pretty much the same. But he dropped us off there and said he’d be back in 40 minutes in which he was late returning. We were about to take a cab back to hotel when he return. Disappointing because this was our last day of vacation. My daughter never found her artwork. All that to say, don’t waste your money on the private tour. Take a cab or take the cheaper group. This was my first all inclusive Hyatt and I am very happy. There are other but this one had nice rooms available. Employees are very helpful and polite. I will say that room service can be a bit slow and perhaps it was just a the day but everything else on my trip was flawless. This Ziva has several restaurants but personally I liked the Italian. Tasteful and again great service. The steakhouse was also nice and even better, everything is included. I would highly recommend it to anyone and try to get something corner located as you will have a bit more space. It can be pricey but it's well worth it. Read less
