Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall

Montego Bay, Jamaica

The hotel

Following a recent multi-million dollar renovation, the All-Inclusive Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall offers even more luxurious accommodation than before. There’s a huge range of room options to choose from, all with gorgeous views of the surrounding tropical gardens or the ocean. You can even choose a room with direct pool access or upgrade to Club Level for special privileges. Tucked between the mountains and the sea, it’s hailed as a paradise of rest, relaxation and recreation and rightly so! Prepare yourself for "Service from the Heart!" — a genuine warm Jamaican welcome and service with a smile. For something a little special, head to the spa for a relaxing massage or body wrap. Whilst you do, the kids can play with other youngsters at their very own club, building sandcastles or getting stuck into some arts and crafts. With regards to restaurants, you’ll find plenty on your doorstep — at the Ziva, there’s a whole range of world cuisines to choose from! Visit Italy one night, Brazil the next and Asia when the mood takes you. We doubt very much you’ll be homesick but if you are, head to Union Jack’z — an English tavern that not only serves pub favourites but also features live music too. Alternatively, sip on cocktails on the rooftop at the Moroccan-inspired Fez.

My husband and I just returned from a great week at the Hyatt Ziva. We arrived around 1pm and were greeted by the club room concierge for our private check in. There were sandwiches, fruit, desserts and beverages available. A full bar was also available. We were escorted to our room which had a nice balcony and a beautiful view of one of the pools and the ocean. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Our housekeeper made sure that we always had fresh towels and toiletries and kept the room very clean. The club room staff was always attentive and made sure that all of our needs were met. There were many restaurants to choose from and reservations were never needed. Ziva is a family resort however, adults have access to the Zilara which is basically on the same property. There was nightly entertainment at both the Ziva and Zilara. The staff helped celebrate my husband on his 70th Birthday. We always felt special but even more so on his special day. We had a very good vacation and expect to return next year with our children and grandchildren. Read less

This was our first visit to Jamaica, so we opted for a higher end all-inclusive resort. Based on the reviews here on TripAdvisor, we booked the Hyatt Ziva. The good: * Property overall is very nice. We had an oceanfront room which had a great view. There were a few minor deferred maintenance items in the room, but those were really minor. * The gym is STELLAR - comparable to most commercial gyms. Lots of cardio equipment and great strength training equipment as well. * All of the staff were really great / customer service focused. * Pool area consists of two large pools (one geared more towards kids, the other for adults, but they are right next to each other / never felt crowded). * The beach is very sheltered and to be honest quite small and not very deep. Ocean was very calm, but they would not let you swim past the man made breakwaters. They do have kayak, SUP, and small Hobbie catamarans - all free. * Dining-wise, the buffet location and jerk (pork or chicken) shack were the best. * They have lots of activities for kids - daytime and also opportunities for parents to drop their kids off at Kids Club and have some alone-time. The not so good: * The resort is like a compound / you really can't get out easily (need to take a taxi - definitely request from the bell stand if you do - taxi's have a bad rap on Jamacia). Also, majority of the outdoor activities (e.g. zip line, horseback, etc.) are an hour or more away from the Ziva resort. * Signage inside the resort hallways could be better - clear signs indicate where room blocks are, but there are literally NO signs within the buildings / floors indicating where the lobby is or other key areas. We got lost a number of times trying to find the lobby, a restaurant, etc. * The "fine dining" options (there are three - Italian, Asian, and Brazilian) were not very good. Service was good, but food itself was marginal at best. Note - you CAN get away with shorts / t-shirt at these places (web site leads you to believe men need long pants and collared shirt). Also, "all inclusive" does not really mean ALL inclusive - those restaurants offer wine (by the bottle only) at outrageous markup. Pino Grigio that retails for $18 / maybe $35-45 in a restaurant in the US goes for almost $70 here. Insane. * Insulation not that great. One night some kids in the room above us decided to bounce around in the room at 2:30 a.m. and we could hear everything. Ugh. Fortunately it was only one night. Overall, this is a nice resort, but I would only recommend this place if you live somewhere you can get a direct flight from. 4-5 days is all you need here - longer than that and frankly you'll start to get bored. It is unfortunate that the activities are so far away. We went off property one day. That was a great experience, but we were gone the entire day / on the shuttle for close to 3 hours in total that day. Read less

Excellent facility. The staff was great, friendly and tentative. I will definitely stay at this property again. I would recommend this facility to family and friends. If you have children there are plenty of activities. If this is a trip for adults only there are plenty activities as well.

Julio at the bar rocked too, as did the other staff. Our biggest disappointment was the food; it was mediocre at best. Not inedible by any means but not special either. We really love good food and was really looking forward to trying the different restaurants on property but each night we were let down. That said, the Jerk Hut was very tasty and was a great lunch, so that helped! Read less
