The staff in lobby is always friendly. Very friendly staff in restaurant, they welcome you with a happy face but we could have more variety with the meal. Big up to Nikki in restaurant, Nimona, piano crew and the entire restaurant staff where they have the band. My only issue is the property could do with some more maintenance, beautiful plants like they have at Bahia given that the hotel is eco friendly with that rustic look. Read less

This hotel is in a Beautiful location, the beach is superb and the hotel is a more traditional looking hotel unlike the Riu and Royalton that sit either side of it. We spent a couple of weeks here and had very high expectations due to the many positive reviews on here and the price! We have traveled to the Caribbean from the UK for the last 23 years sometimes twice a year, always staying in a different hotel. I will start with the positives, the location and the little touches like the mini bar selection and the turn down service where the towels are changed nightly is greatly appreciated. Most of The staff are the jewel in the crown here particularly the breakfast staff, who are welcoming and super friendly, in particular a big shout out to Donna who always greeted us with a smile. However the hotel reception ladies are not so friendly and our experience was somewhat tainted on arrival by a very rude young lady who demanded a credit card and proceeded to charge us $300 on arrival. We traveled via TUI on a package holiday so did not expect this! When we got to our room on arrival we were less than impressed To discover that the card had actually been charged and not just the details taken. We later took this up with the manager and it was refunded, but the lady responsible was rather rude! On departure we went to clear our in resort bill having already calculated the cost to be told the bill was more, when we questioned it a different young lady was adamant that it was correct so we asked for a breakdown to which she then quickly added that an additional amount had been added as a charitable donation! Now, had we been asked if we wanted to contribute we would of but her attitude and outrageous expectation that it was acceptable to charge us without an explanation was not satisfactory so we told her to remove it. She became sassy and whilst asking how our stay was she didn’t wait for the reply and turned and started a conversation with a colleague. To the manager of the hotel,I would suggest some intense training if the reception ladies as they are the welcome and the goodbye and they are letting the rest of the staff down with their attitude! Now, on to the room, we had paid extra for a partial ocean view, we wished that we had not bothered as others had not upgraded but had been allocated rooms with superior views. Our room was on the ground floor and unfortunately it meant that several cockroaches got in amongst our hanging clothes and were only discovered once being worn! Not a pleasant experience! The rooms are tired and dated and our bathroom had mould growing, it was of a standard that we experienced 20 years ago in the Dominican. With a little investment they could be so much nicer. Now, I always try to air on the side of caution where negative reviews on hotels are the minority, where this hotel is concerned it has many great reviews, but these are from repeat visitors who have come here year after year and therefore have nothing to compare their experience with! Whilst this is a great location and the majority of the staff wonderful the biggest disappointment cus was the bland food that seriously lacked presentation. The Otoheite restaurant is the best by far but the Lychee offering was bland and tasteless, in particular the Pad Thai was awful! We had been warned by other guests but thought we would give it ago and it was as awful as we had been told. This is the only hotel we have ever stayed in where the food was on a par with a school canteen,we spoke to many other guests who had visited here previously who also said the food was not as good as it previously had been. On a final note, the nude bathers are quite brazen and one morning a guest who clearly had no inhibitions thought it was acceptable to parade around on his balcony in his birthday suit, we had thought this was confined to the allocated area of the hotel but clearly not! Anywhere else this would be considered indecent exposure! Read less

The activities people, Tiann, Aishya, Deshane, Shanise and the others whom I didn't get their names, kept us entertained every day with trivia, hat making, pool aerobics. The weather and scenery was beautiful even with the rain that came, like clockwork, every day. Lasted about 2 hours each time. I enjoyed every minute. Read less
