We've stayed at CTI and CSS so kind of knew what to expect from Couples Resorts in general.   Hotel has a large beautiful beach. The resort was pretty, lots of tropical plants and trees. The buildings are dated and painted in a dark greens which does make the place look a bit dreary in places. Nice pool, always plenty of sunbeds poolside and beach to choose from anytime. Vendors pass frequently on the beach but do not hassle you. Our room was functional and clean. Large comfortable bed. Aircon worked well. No issues with open shower room for us. We had a corner room and our blinds were old, the cords were well worn and twisted and needed updating. Food was good overall but one night in the  Otaheite restaurant both our soups were served luke warm and I asked for my steak to be cooked medium but came very rare, I mean just shy of still having a pulse! They did offer to change it but my partner had almost finished his main course and I declined the offer. There are a few small subtle differences from the other Couples resorts. Such as different cocktails and martini choices, some staff didn't know how to make certain drinks offered at other Couples resorts. I asked for a lemon drop martini and it tasted awful 😖 more like fresh squeezed bitter lemons that could have took the enamel off my teeth! For us the buffet dining area is hot and very dark, not a comfortable atmosphere for eating or having a relaxing lunch (best to sit under a working fan). If seated by the stage area its like sitting in a dark cave. The other restaurants were more comfortable. We noticed a few staff seemed fed up, not like other Couples resorts we've visited. Even when we tried to engage with them. Just seemed unhappy for some reason? Yet other staff were really friendly, enthusiastic and gave a great service. I found the cleaning staff quite noisy, they shout loudly each other outside the rooms without any thought or care for people who might be trying to relax or  take an afternoon nap.  We did the sunset cruise which was lovely. Didnt take us to Ricks cafe but by some caves, saw the boys diving and got to swim in and around the caves. Sunset was amazing 🌞  The weather was hot, mostly sunny with very little breeze. Cloud would build in the afternoon with the occasional shower but we'd had enough sun by that time anyway.  Nothing wrong with this resort but we personally prefer the resorts in Ocho Rios as the resort decor is brighter with fresher sea breeze at this time of year.    Read less

We have just returned from Couples Negril and it was the best holiday we have ever had. The hotel is amazing - yes it's not brand new but it is in great condition despite what other reviewers have stated. The staff are incredible - very friendly and happy. Many guests had got to know some staff as personal friends. Particular mention to the following: Suga, Richardo, Omar and Jermaine at the dive school; Enoch in the grill; and Roshayne at the Bar. They deserve much praise from management. The transfer to the hotel was 2.5 hours but the traffic was bad (on the way back it was only 1.5 hours). There is a light aircraft you can hire which will fly you to the airstrip[ opposite the hotel in 15 mins for $180 each if you are feeing indulgent. On arrival, we had drinks and a short welcome speech. Our bags were at our room when we arrived. Our room had a lovely view of the ocean and a beautiful pond. Make sure you go to the orientation at 10am in the hotel lobby as you will be shown all the nooks and crannies of the hotel so you know where to go and what to do. The food was incredible - I have stayed at very few hotels with this quality of food. There are 4 restaurants (including the main buffet) but only one required pre-booking. I honestly don't understand other reviewers saying the food was below par. I eat regularly in expensive London restaurants, and the quality at Couples Negril is just as good. Rooms were spacious with large comfy beds. Sadly no baths unless you're in a suite, but the huge walk-in showers were great. The mini bar is filled with whatever you want. Cocktails from the bar were amazing. Diving is free at the hotel - you can dive twice a day once certified. The dive school instructors are amazing. My wife was quite nervous but she undertook the "Discover Scuba" course they do, then did her open water certification in 2 days! I was already an Advanced Diver but did the Invasive Lionfish tracker course thanks to Ron Holzman's advice. Loads to see when diving too - saw a shark (a nurse shark, so harmless), rays, dolphins, puffa fish etc. Wonderful. Proper dive boat too - not a RIB like you see in some hotels. The watersports is next door to the dive school and again all free. I did wakeboarding and did not have to queue. The beach is amazing - the water is so warm and clear. Often we'd see flying fish and rays at the beach. The sunbed mattresses float too so can be taken into the sea. There is a nudist beach but it is cordoned off and very unobtrusive. Beach sellers so patrol up and down but are not invasive. The catamaran cruise is a must-do. It is free and goes out every evening at 4pm, returning at 6.30pm. They take you to a cave where you can swim with bats! Loads of music and rum punches during the cruise too. You have to pre-book but it is all free. The entertainment is brilliant. During the day you can get involved as much or as little as you like - no pressure from staff. In the evening singers like Tammi T are exceptional. You'll need the two-pin adaptors if you are taking electrical items, but we had iron and hair drier in the room. We really did not want to leave. We'll be back! Read less
