Sandals Negril is a beautiful resort. The beach is just beautiful. We are normally pool people on vacation but we spent our whole time at the beach. It’s long so it does not feel crowded. We wore water shoes in the ocean due to the sea grass but the staff is out there everyday cleaning it up. Our butlers set us up at the same great spot on the beach everyday and had our cooler with beer and water ready for us. The days we had our butler Daron, he took great care of us. Always checking in on us and letting us know what was going on. Our experience with our other butler was hit and miss. He was not up to what we have experienced with other Sandals butlers in the past. And we don’t ask for alot. So we were happy we had Daron to make it a truly enjoyable experience. Our best meals were at the Bayside and Italian Restaurant along with the buffet at the beach party night. Our photographer O’Neil did a great job getting some pictures too. Housekeeping was hit or miss and maybe because we got back to our room too early at night. But they must have one person come in and get the used towels and then someone else comes thru and restock. All in all it was a great relaxing trip for our first time to Negril on a fabulous beach. Read less

There is no elevator, so for those with physical limitations you may need to book on the first level. Our garden view backed up to the main road and so traffic noise was an issue. Next time, I would upgrade to ocean view. The room was very beautiful, clean, and we'll appointed. The food was overall excellent, especially at Sundowner and at Cucino Italian. The jerk chicken was superb at the Bistro. We had a large group, one with food allergies, and the chefs were very accommodating. We spent the bulk of the days at the lobby pool and at the beach. Gorgeous pool and the beach areas have lots of nice beach chairs and tiki umbrella tables. Everything is well kept and clean. I would recommend this resort. Our large group was was from age 30 to 70 and we all had a fantastic time! Read less

We just returned last week from 5 days in Negril celebrating our 40th anniversary with our son and daughter-in-law. Overall, we had a wonderful time but while there were many positive things’ we experienced there were some negatives that are worth mentioning. Positives: Beautiful beach. Kudos to Sandals for keeping it clean and well maintained! Sean and Donato were our wonderful butlers. Sean gets special notice only because of the way the schedule worked out we had him more and he thoroughly spoiled us – particularly on our actual anniversary with decorations, treats etc. Tjean – the wine sommelier is a great asset. He is very knowledgeable of wines and is butler trained and so served our beautiful candlelight dinner to perfection. He also has a wonderful sense of humor. The Candlelight dinner was the absolute highlight of the trip! Thank you Sandals! Chef Wong at Kimonos was a wonderful cook and very entertaining. Negatives: Check in was very chaotic. This is our seventh time to a Sandals and this check in was beyond a circus. Everyone was herded into a small room and offered a drink. Only half the people received drinks. People names were being shouted, I-Pads were being passed for signature and one person did not know what the other person was doing. In all our trips to Sandals, our firing by our butler was a new experience. After our chaotic check in, our assigned butler whose name I think was, Devon took us to our room. The first thing we were told were the instructions to tip him and the other butler. Then when the room was not pre-stocked with the requested vodka because they were out of it he informed us to get a better vodka we would need to be charged. When I asked if he had an issue with us he told me he was done with us and we would get a new butler. This after a 3-hour drive from the airport and traveling from 6:00 AM! The rooms are quite dated which is okay but then the cleaning needs to be beyond reproach. This was not always the case however when I said something it was remedied. I cut myself on a broken lock in the rest room in the smaller bar/pool on our 3rd day there. It was brought to the attention of four different people yet as of the day we left, it still was not fixed. In fairness, when these deficiencies were brought to the attention of the Butler manager she was appropriately chagrined and remedied everything however when you are only in Jamaica for 5 days no day should be wasted on aggravation. We spoke with a number of different managers and some were very responsive and others not as much. In summary, the thing I would primarily say is that Sandals as a company, in general needs to pay attention to guests who are Sandals Select and acknowledge it. We had invites for a complimentary massage due to Emerald status as well as a select dinner of which both were scheduled for the day we were leaving. Pay attention to details! We are booked next year for Royal Bahamas and I hope they know this lesson! Read less

The good... Beautiful location on a soft sandy beach. WiFi was good both on the beach and in our room. The Manager Carl does his rounds and is friendly as are most of the staff who check to make sure you are enjoying your time at Negril. Food in the Italian restaurant is excellent if you are able to get a table. The brilliant Dive team, all friendly, and patient they made us feel safe whilst gaining certification. Plenty of snorkelling trips and other water sports available too. Piano bar was fun with DJ sets and karaoke night, drinks and staff all really good here. Pool / beach towels readily available at all times of the day. The towels left on sun beds not being used are regularly cleared so you will always find beds on the beach, there are plenty of shady spots. Drinks waiters will bring drinks to you on the beach if you don’t have a butler. Gardeners and ground staff keep the place neat and tidy, one even asked if we minded when he mowed the The not so good... Definitely not a 4.5 or 5 star resort. Food other than breakfast options and room far from the standard expected. The roped off swim areas all have terrible seaweed or sea grass infestations - the staff try to keep the beach clean but walking out into the sea to cool off is not a pleasant experience. Entertainment in the Bayside (French restaurant) starts around 7.30pm and goes on until at least 10pm it is incredibly LOUD so if you want a nice quiet meal here don’t even consider eating in here unless you go early to watch the sunset. The night of the beachside buffet the walk in restaurants are closed so you have no choice but eat in Bayside listening to the extremely loud entertainment team - not what everyone wants. There are extras to pay for other services eg $140 to book a cabana with butler for the day, there are 4 of them most days all 4 were vacant unless you bought it cheaper in the raffle. Photographers bother you at every turn, if you say no they will ask you for your room number. Spa ladies seem to do the same along the beach but they are not as persistent. The main pool with the swim up bar is loud and rowdy all day. Housekeeping is very hit and miss, some days we didn’t get towels, the mini bar was restocked with everything other than what we asked for, with no clean cups or glasses. Our Caribbean Luxury Honeymoon room was damp, there was no where to dry any clothes, by the end of our stay all of our clothing was damp. The room faced the road which wasn’t a problem noise wise it was just frustrating having a dark room with windows you couldn’t leave open whilst leaving the room secure. No traditional Jamaican food available, we thought it was all geared to taste bland even in the Sundowner restaurant. They will charge $50 for a late check out and still managed to disable our room key at 11am even though we paid to leave at 3.15pm! At the end of the day your holiday is what you make it, we still enjoyed ourselves. We haven’t ruled out visiting other Sandals resorts but won’t be returning to Negril I’m afraid. Read less
