The hotel

Nestled in 10-acres of delightful tropical gardens, the Sunset at the Palms is a sure-fire winner for adults looking for a peaceful and pampering retreat. Stay in exquisite wooden bungalows that sit atop sturdy stilts, so you feel like you’re in a tree house — albeit a luxury one, with polished wood floors, sleek showers with body jets and airy balconies furnished with a relaxing day bed. There are three different dining choices from the extensive International buffet at Palm Grove Restaurant to the creative Caribbean fusion menu at the à la carte Lotus Leaf. Guests rave about the spicy Jamaican ‘Jerk’ chicken that’s served at the Beach Bar and Grill during lunch — don’t miss it! The pool is perfect for lounging in the sun, or it’s a short escorted walk over the road to the celebrated Bloody Bay, a spectacular stretch of white sand beach fringed with picture-perfect palm trees.

The food was well above what I expected for an all Inclusive resort. My husband and I will be thinking about the beef stew, coconut curry, and key lime tarts for a long time to come. Despite the natural and rustic vibes of the resort, everything was always spotless and the amenities were all modern. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. We can’t wait to come back. There was always something to do in the evenings at the resort, if you wanted to participate. We enjoyed listening to the live music in the piano bar and playing the board games available there! This was our 9th time at Sunset at the Palms and won’t be our last! As the hotel no longer offers the Mobay Club, we booked it ourselves. It is the best money spent! As usual we got through customs very quickly, enjoyed a quick bite, changed our clothes and were on our way to SATP. We booked the same for our return trip home. We were met by our driver Harry Harvey (we recommend Harry as your driver to and from SATP) and enjoyed a comfortable ride arriving safely at SATP. Check in was easy including a delicious rum punch and we were quickly shown to our room. We love the cabin type feel of the rooms and soon felt relaxed and at home. The food is always good at SATP but this trip it was especially delicious! Whether the Buffet, Chef’s Showcase or Lotus Leaf, they all served absolutely wonderful meals. Every year we see so many of the usual faces who always greet us with a big smile, a hug and often your name. Throughout the Resort, the service is consistently outstanding and in particular at the Beach: Jovaine (the hardest worker on the beach!) and Captain Kirk who made tasty drinks for us including Jamaican Lemonades and Mellow/Yellows as well as Sherlene who made fabulous Martinis as did Odine at the Martini Bar! Breakfast was always a treat with Collette and Vanessa making sure we get our cappuccinos. Lunch at the beach was special with Vanessa serving us once again - Shrimp Salad was our favourite!. Dinner at the Buffet was fun with Leon and Christina looking after us as well as Michaela at the buffet stations. The Chef’s Showcase was amazing and the ambiance outstanding! Our Return Guest Dinner was on the beach with a beautiful sunset which was a real treat for us as a few times the weather did not permit us to eat by the water. Chef Myre did a wonderful job on our meal with Tamika and Cornelius making sure everything was just right. Special mention goes to Kadian, the Concierge Manager, works behind the scenes to make our stay perfect. She is always so kind and helpful and is a wonderful ambassador for the Resort. For us the resort is perfect. We love the rooms, the beautiful grounds, the food, the service, the ability to eat all your meals outdoors without air conditioning, walking the beach, swimming and even the tree frogs! Read less

My husband and I spent seven wonderful days at Sunset at the Palms. We wanted a small laid back resort for a relaxing week, and STP did not disappoint. The room was very comfortable: king-size bed, refrigerator stocked with beer, soda and water. The mosquitoes were a problem for me on the first day, despite using mosquito spray, I had a few bites. The resort "fogs" for mosquitoes every day at 5:30p.m. It's non-toxic, so no worries there. Food at this resort was very good and plentiful. Meal times always included a Jamaican option along with the usual breakfast and dinner fare. Breakfast and dinner were buffets, but you could also make reservations for the a-la-carte restaurant or the Chef's table. Every meal I had was excellent. Lunch could be had at the beach bar or the dining room and there is also a very good coffee bar. We are not pool people, so did not spend any time at the pool. Entertainment: Paul the Piano man was wonderful. He knew how to engage his audience and we enjoyed singing along while he played the piano. Some nights there was a Reggae band, but it was set up like a concert, with the chairs in a semi circle to sit and listen to the band. My one suggestion is to have the band encourage/invite the guests to dance. My husband and I did, but we were the only ones dancing on the night we were there. What sets STP apart from other resorts we have gone to is the staff at STP. Professional; helpful; friendly. I really felt that it was important to them for us to have a good time at the resort. If you like plants, take the gardener's tour. We enjoyed it. Although not required, please tip the wonderful staff. They deserve it. We will definitely go back. Read less

Paul at the piano was a talented and engaging musician and we enjoyed sitting at the martini bar sipping and singing… If you are interested in relaxing and being on the most calm and beautiful beach ever, stay here!!!! For our group we needed a small resort and i can declare this is a nice one for size . We were planning on going to the Cliffs but wanted a shorter drive to get here since it would be another 30 minutes extra . The ride to Negril feels like 2hrs but its 90 minutes to get there we didnt use the public shuttle service due to the stops they make and unnecessary waiting especially if you consider possible flight delays and crowded airport. We found a very pleasant company in Top choice Jamaica Tours or tcjtours for short they were excellent and it was just us on board and we had the best rum punch while coming to this resort with the best conversations . Highly recommend them if you driving this far . Even though its a little distance the reception and the resort is so much worth it . Be prepared for friendly staff , flora and fauna , the beach is next door . I know its spring break but we didn't feel so much pressure there except with towels. Rooms are spacious place is quiet , concierge is excellent at explaining everything . The fruits were probably my favorite and i would recommend this location to anyone who wants a great combination of food entertainment . The beach is private and there tons of options to do on the water . I suggest going to Pelican Bar or Booby Cay for real good seafood and rustic vibes . We wanted to see the Luminous Lagoon but it was too far of a drive back to Falmouth we also wanted to see Dunns River Falls . Overall if you love a laid back come here Read less
