Chickens have salmonella germs in their droppings and on their bodies (feathers, feet, beaks) even when they appear healthy..we had to carry hand sanitizer and constantly apply to our toddler...this was stressful...another reason why we won't return!!! 5) There are scrauny wild cats that are also allowed to roam freely around resort and meow around outdoor dinner tables!!!! Does Not exactly make for a pleasant dinner atmosphere The POSITIVE about this place is that the staff are all very nice...the service they give is excellent. The kids shows are good too. IN A NUTSHELL...we didn't feel this place was worth the $$$ we paid for it and.... the 2 hour, 15 min airport shuttle ride, nightly noise, wild chickens and cats, mediocre food would definitely stop us from coming here again!!!!! I stayed at Beaches to attend my cousin's wedding last week. It started with being locked out of my room at 2 am. Maintenance came to let me in but it was more than just a dead battery so I ended up having to stay in the room until morning or get locked out again which wouldn't have been a problem until I went to call the office and found out my phone didn't let me call out (and we later found out I also couldn't get calls in). So now I'm stuck in a room and if something had happened I wouldn't have been able to call for help. So I ended up having to use my personal cellphone to call the front desk to ask if I could change rooms. I was told I couldn't change until 9 am when the Reservationists came in (didn't make sense to me either). When the morning rolled around. I decided that I'd leave my room in hopes it and the phone would be fixed by the time I got back from breakfast. I will say the Maintenance Supervisor was as helpful as he could be considering the situation. I go and make an appointment for my mother to get her make-up and eyelashes done for the wedding (trying to be the model daughter). I find out yesterday that the make-up artist took my mom to the desk and requested additional money (approximately $40+ USD) however the receipt they gave my mom showed the salon charge being sent to my room (as it was supposed to) so I am wondering 1) what the additional charge was? 2) Why wouldn't they have added it to my tab? My mother is an elderly cancer survivor (she lost her eyebrows and lashes via chemo) so their actions really ruined the great sentiment I was trying to provide. For those considering having your wedding with Beaches Ocho Rios, at 2pm when my cousin's wedding was supposed to start, the crew was still decorating and putting out chairs. We later found out that the original wedding planner cancelled and someone else was doing the planning but you would think since the team is the same they would know what they were doing since they do it so often. At no time was I addressed by the General Manager or Manager on Duty. At no time, did I even receive a call from the GM or MoD. The actual staff and maintenance people were great (other than the spa staff). But if situations like this aren't getting to management then there's a missing link. I am disgusted that the spa staff took advantage of my mother, I am angry that this was what I got for the amount I paid. Prior to the trip I joked with my friends that I was going to take Beaches up on their offer for a free wedding even if I don't get married until 2090 but they would have to pay me to go back to Beaches Ocho Rios. The evening entertainment was poor apart from the 30 mins children's entertainment with the characters. Alex and rasharn from the entertainment team was extremely good with the kids and towards us guests, the rest of them had no interest. The wedding we attended was supposed to start at 2pm and they had not even starting setting up until 1:55 and delayed the wedding at least 20mins. This hotel is MASSIVELY over priced for what you get and i would definitely not say there again after the money i paid. I previously stayed at the riu ochio rios before it was renovated and that was so much better than this hotel and a huge difference in price. Read less

We just returned from a week at Beaches Ocho Rios Resort on Dec 8th, 2019. Thought we would post how we found the resort and the surrounding areas. This was our 6th trip to the Caribbean and we have to say by far the best service we have ever received. Every employee at this resort is outgoing, well trained, respectful and willing to offer assistance without being asked. I could write a book on the tremendous service we got here but I will just say it is beyond 5 star. The food was excellent at all of the restaurants and the buffet...always plenty of variety for everyone. We thought the French restaurant was best but they are all very good. We had no issues with anyone getting sick on any of the food either. The Resort is very clean, a bit dated, house keeping constantly restocks the room and did a 2nd quick cleanup of the room at dinner time daily, also dropped off the resort event paper daily to our room at dinner. The Pool is giant with plenty of pool lounge chairs, cabanas and towels...while the pool is a bit cold it isn’t unbearable. The music at the pool is a bit repetitive. The beach is clean with plenty of lounge chairs, towels and a bar or 2, the water is warm, crystal clear and completely free of any seaweed or foul smells (one of the main reasons we choose Jamaica). Excursions are extremely expensive and in our opinion over priced...and any extras once you arrive at your destination are complete rip offs. Also driving isn’t the safest activity on the island. We did the Blue Hole excursion at $260 USD for 2 hours (which included 25 minute drive there and 25 mins back). Again roads are poor quality, narrow, blind corners and they are pretty reckless drivers...that said our driver was well prepared for that. The Blue Hole was beautiful and the cliff diving was fun. It is mountain fed spring water but it is very cold. The weather was always in the 80’s during the day, high 70’s at night. Usually rained at dinner time, partly cloudy every day. All in all a great vacation, awesome resort and people...we really enjoyed the culture. Read less
