Moon Palace Jamaica

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

The hotel

Occupying centre stage on the largest private beach in Ocho Rios, the Moon Palace Jamaica promises as many sensational sea views as classic Palace Resort touches which is why this is one of the hottest properties in the Caribbean. Consisting of 705 guest rooms, contained within two shimmering towers, you'll be totally spoiled for choice and with four restaurants and six bars to choose from, you certainly won't be left wanting when it comes to a warm welcome. World-class dining options and a tempting gourmet corridor provide a taste of things to come with the excellent Piano Bar offering a world of wine which has been expertly critiqued for your own deliberation. As most guest rooms have fabulous ocean views, fully stocked mini-bars and 24-hour room service, you may prefer to relax in private however, as Family Rooms come with two interconnecting doors you'll be advised to grab the moment while it lasts. Of course, that's not where the fun stops for kids as from their very own pool and FlowRider wave simulator to an organised club and wired teens' lounge, there's plenty of family options to keep your brood happy and active all day long. First time in Jamaica 🇯🇲 with my husband celebrating 13 years. While there I wanted to make sure I did a few workouts so that I’d not feel guilty of the great food and drinks I had 😀. I saw Moon Palace offered group fitness classes daily and attended Wednesday’s Spinning and Thursday’s Tabata classes. For Spinning I was able to get another person to participate in the class so there would be at least 2 participants so our instructor could teach. Our instructor was the AMAZING Johnoy and he included Austin as well. Spin class was challenging, great and what I needed for a 9am workout. It was to the point. He gauged the fitness level of the participants and made sure we got our ‘burn’. That we did and so enjoyed. I enjoyed so much that I committed to coming back on Thursday morning to do Tabata. No one else joined the class but he did not shirt change me in my workout. It was like having my own personal trainer. We did a HIIT Tabata class and it was soooo fun. Learned new moves and was dr niches after our 25 minute session. Johnoy was so personable, friendly, engaging and didn’t allow me to slack during the workout. I really appreciate Johnoy for helping me to be accountable of my goals to getting a few workouts in while on vacation. He made accomplishing that easy but hard during it 😀. Thank you Johnoy for the workout sessions and being great company while at he gym. Until next time!!!!! Read less

It was probably one of the best beds I’ve slept in at a hotel in a while. The pool and beach areas were nice enough. Richard outside was a highlight of our stay. In general the staff were very friendly. The candle lit, ocean side dinner was great! You just need to use resort credits or spend $400. Cons: The food was pretty disappointing. The Italian dinner wasn’t great. The pool food was very meh. We had a bottle of wine in our room that had completely turned to vinegar. My biggest issue: We had an 8am flight back to New York. They made us (we had no other option) take a 2:30am shuttle for the airport. We arrived an hour and a half before the airport even opened!!! We should have been on the 4am shuttle...but we were instructed that we had to be on the 2:30. So they completely ruined our last night - forced us to pull an all nighter..to sit and wait for the airport to open. I can’t think of any reason they would do this. Read less

Our membership includes a jacuzzi suit - except when it doesn’t. We were told upon arrival that none were available. Later we were told we could have one for an upgrade fee of $9++. We also are entitled to the premium wine upgrade. However, here we had to pay a tax and fee for our free upgrade. One bottle we were familiar with, costing around $28 in the states, was listed at $225 (!!) with tax and fees costing $34. We can only suggest staying at the Palace resorts other than Moon Palade in Jamaica. I will not the extremely friendly and helpful staff. Read less

My wife and I were there this week for our 13th wedding anniversary and had a BALL!! We are Palace Elite members and have been to Moon Palace Cancun numerous times, but this was our first visit to Jamaica and it certainly did NOT disappoint!! Shout out to Renaldo who served us at beach/pool side everyday and made sure we were comfortable and happy!! He was the best!! We ate at Buccaneers and the food was really good!! It was much better than I expected!! Our servers Jerome and Romane were incredible!! They treated us like family!! We did the Hibachi dinner at the MoMo restaurant and it was excellent!! Our cook Shannon was amazing, entertaining, and the food was VERY delicious!! The guys at the dessert shop was extremely good and gave us some good recommendations!! The Nightclub looked pretty good inside and we had a great time!! The DJ started off a little slow and all his songs sounded alike, but we had fun and made the best of it. Lots of people were walking in and out. Some stayed a little while and then left. I suggest really putting more diverse “party music” in the playlist. The Michael Jackson show was pretty good. The one at Cancun has more stage and better visuals, but the MJ and dancers at Jamaica were exceptional I’ll admit! The ladies at vacation planning were all so very helpful and accommodating!! The property is immaculate and top notch to the quality we are accustomed to. Absolutely amazing stay!! Read less
