Moon Palace Jamaica

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

The hotel

Occupying centre stage on the largest private beach in Ocho Rios, the Moon Palace Jamaica promises as many sensational sea views as classic Palace Resort touches which is why this is one of the hottest properties in the Caribbean. Consisting of 705 guest rooms, contained within two shimmering towers, you'll be totally spoiled for choice and with four restaurants and six bars to choose from, you certainly won't be left wanting when it comes to a warm welcome. World-class dining options and a tempting gourmet corridor provide a taste of things to come with the excellent Piano Bar offering a world of wine which has been expertly critiqued for your own deliberation. As most guest rooms have fabulous ocean views, fully stocked mini-bars and 24-hour room service, you may prefer to relax in private however, as Family Rooms come with two interconnecting doors you'll be advised to grab the moment while it lasts. Of course, that's not where the fun stops for kids as from their very own pool and FlowRider wave simulator to an organised club and wired teens' lounge, there's plenty of family options to keep your brood happy and active all day long. With four other swimming pools, excellent spa facilities and loads of daily activities, there's never a dull moment and with the stunning Dunn's River Falls just 15-minutes away, getting out and experiencing the very best of Jamaica doesn't get any better than this.

The FlowRider staff at Moon Palace Jamaica Shamar Blake and Devar King were fantastic. These guys are fun, helpful, and patient. We spent more time on the FlowRider than we would have because of these guys. They will teach you everything from the basics of how to ride to tricks.

Just got back from the Moon Palace today and I would give the hotel a 7.5/10. There was so much to love that made for an outstanding vacation. First and foremost I have to give it up to the flowrider staff. Shamar Blobe and Damar King were incredible at making the time on the wave my favorite part of the vacation. These two are definitely an asset to the company with the energy they bring each and every day. The drinks were great and the bartenders always had great conversations. I definitely recommend the dirty banana as it was by far my favorite cocktail. The only negative I would say regarding the all inclusive drinks would be the included wine list. Many basic wines were not included such as pinot noir and other favorites. The pool and beach areas were always kept clean. We loved how massive the pool area was. The number of pools stretched the entire length of the resort and never seemed overly crowded. The resort amenities included the water sports were a great perk. The dolphin experience was so good that we booked the royal and ultimate swim packages during our stay. I definitely recommend booking your resort credit excursions before arriving at the resort. We chose to take a tour at Komodo Falls with our credit and then opted for a private tour of the blue hole through a 3rd party tour company. The food at the resort was hit or miss. Some meals were great and others left a little to be desired. My personal favorites included the red snapper and the short rib. The pistachio ice cream was also sinfully delicious. Unfortunately the food service was also a little slow. At one restaurant we were only brought our plates while the little ones plate never arrived. Another negative was that the minibar service was non existent the last 3 days of our stay. For a family vacation the Moon Place was remarkable. The 5 year old did not want to leave the kids club and that is a huge credit to the Playroom staff. She did not want to leave even for dinner 😂. The staff made sure that the kids were well entertained during there time in the club. Definitely will book at another palace resort soon! Read less

The Moon Palace Jamaica was a wonderful experience for our family of 4. Traveling over the 4th of July, there were many fun activities and events that enhanced our vacation such as dance parties, shows, beach volleyball games, and a foam party. Fitness Johnoy lead a great aqua aerobics class at 12 pm daily in the main pool. We have 2 daughters aged 15 and 17, and they had a blast with the entertainment staff, including Romell, Khaleel, Johnoy, Austin, Timaly, Yahshawn, and Simone who led the entertainment activities. The only downside to the hotel was the noise problem. We stayed in tower 2 on the 11th floor, and it was very loud on Friday and Saturday night due to the neighboring town's nightlife. If you're a light sleeper, I would suggest requesting a lower floor to avoid this. Besides this, we had a great time at the Moon Palace Jamaica. Read less

Me and my family are still at Moon Palace, Jamaica due to depart in 2 days. On arrival- greeted with cold refreshing drink and wet towel, welcoming staff, lovely smell. Check-in quick offered upgrade but declined. Arrived in room to realise we had been given a lot less of a room than what we paid for, back to reception told it would be sorted within an hour after travelling without much sleep for 30hrs we were a but discusted but anyway we waited. Once we finally had the correct room it was spacious, clean, only downside was very small balcony which we had paid extra for. Food- amazing food in all restaurants, plenty of choice, never went without a decent meal. Waiting times not too bad. Buccaneers buffet restaurant seriously need more attentive staff on numerous occasions we sat 15 minutes waiting on a server to offer us drinks, we would have been happy enough to get are own but this option was not available. The only time we didnt have to wait for the server to offer us drinks was when Jerome was working he was always running around doing his best to serve everyone. The service in Buccaneers buffet is dreadful and unacceptable for a five star resort. Staff- all helpful, cheerful, pleasant but not as quick to make sure your getting the service you have paid for. Room maid- not brilliant definitely not five star cleaning, stayed for 14 nights and a brush/mop never touched are balcony floor once, only the sink was cleaned in the bathroom nothing else. Facilities- again not five star. Basis unless your Palace Elite or Diamond. Teen lounge needs updating, connect four larger than life game didnt even work a lot of updating needed on the childrens play items. Also a lot of areas are a no go again unless your Elite or Diamond. Entertainment- i have never come across anything as dreadful or boring for entertainment in any holiday resort. So theres 6/7 staff from the entertainment team dancing about all day but doing absolutely nothung for guests. So some of the day time entertainment was Timing kids going down slide, Raggae dancing, Beach volleyball and Beach soccer but guess what not much of the activities involved the entertainment team. They got guests to come foward for Beach volleyball and Beach soccer but then dissappeared leaving the guests to it, no rules, no winners just a complete shambles. Nightly entertainment has no thought put into it at all the shows are not entertaining at all, everything is mimed, and the only night that has a half decent show is the night they do Michael Jackson but even then this isnt brilliant as its mimed. Things need to take a very sinister turn regarding the entertainment both day and night ive never witnesses anythung as awful in my entire time of holidaying. The entertainment staff are more interested in dancing raggae which looks like theyre shaking their ass’s, twisting their tummys and almost grinding thin air theyre nothing short of a joke and a waste of wages. Leaving the resort to go outside isnt ideal in Jamaica so guests need entertainment within the resort. Moon Palace is classed as five star unfortunately ive stayed at three star in Cancun and there was a lot more to do within the hotel, better facilities and more luxury than there is in Moon Palace and in Cancun you get waited on hand and foot unlike the services at Moon Palace. This is our forst time in Jamaica and definitely the last having been put off by the services in Moon Palace. Bit of advice for Moon Palace staff check out the Iberostar in Cancun this hotel would put yourselves to shame. You really need to up your game your charging guests a mere fortune to stay at a five star but the facilities and staff are nothing short of a two star. Read less
