Moon Palace Jamaica

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

The hotel

Occupying centre stage on the largest private beach in Ocho Rios, the Moon Palace Jamaica promises as many sensational sea views as classic Palace Resort touches which is why this is one of the hottest properties in the Caribbean. Consisting of 705 guest rooms, contained within two shimmering towers, you'll be totally spoiled for choice and with four restaurants and six bars to choose from, you certainly won't be left wanting when it comes to a warm welcome. World-class dining options and a tempting gourmet corridor provide a taste of things to come with the excellent Piano Bar offering a world of wine which has been expertly critiqued for your own deliberation. As most guest rooms have fabulous ocean views, fully stocked mini-bars and 24-hour room service, you may prefer to relax in private however, as Family Rooms come with two interconnecting doors you'll be advised to grab the moment while it lasts. Of course, that's not where the fun stops for kids as from their very own pool and FlowRider wave simulator to an organised club and wired teens' lounge, there's plenty of family options to keep your brood happy and active all day long. With four other swimming pools, excellent spa facilities and loads of daily activities, there's never a dull moment and with the stunning Dunn's River Falls just 15-minutes away, getting out and experiencing the very best of Jamaica doesn't get any better than this.

I absolutely loved each and every minute of my time at the Moon Palace. The service team was incredibly friendly and took great care of my entire family. All of the workers were extremely polite! They all worked above and beyond at their jobs, taking the time to make conversation and joke with us, sing with us to celebrate my great-grandmother's 90th birthday, or even juggle around a soccer ball with us. Everyone from the greeters who welcomed us off of the bus to the servers at the restaurants to the life guards at the pool were just the epitome of fine service! I have to give a major shout out to the outstanding Jerome who served my family every day at Buccaneers Reef!! He is an excellent server who took great care of us and made meals the highlight of our trip! His joyful personality and exceptional service made seeing him at meals the the best part of each day. Winsett was also super kind to us and served us very well! Also have to shout out Andre and Jermaine from the midnight shift at Boulangerie! They hooked my cousin and I up with delicious midnight snacks and desserts, and we had an outstanding time chatting with them! Also, I felt exceedingly safe at this resort regarding covid-19 precautions. As soon as you walk in, you clean your shoes and put on hand sanitizer. Tables and areas of high traffic were consistently wiped down, and there are numerous hand sanitizer stations. You could tell it was a very clean space. Every single resort employee had their mask on the entire time which was wonderful. They also did a great job of enforcing masks for guests in a polite and professional way. Jamaica is already paradise, but staying at the Moon Palace makes it even better :) Read less

My husband, 9 year old son and I stayed here for a week in the Govenor Suite which was huge and beautifully designed. The wave rider, arcade and slides at the pool kept our son completely entertained, the food was fantastic and no need to book unless you want Hibachi and you can still eat in the japanese without a reservation if you just want sushi etc. Gorgeous white sand beach situated in a small bay with clear water and not dangerous for kids. We booked this through an owner Gina Denardo of Diveprincess.com and she not only got us a great deal but navigated all the admin with Palace Resorts, cant recomend her service enough. We had stayed at Royalton Blue Waters two months prior and whilst the suite there was also fab nothing else there, food, service, facilities, stood up to the standards of this resort which is just another level. We havevstayed with Palace many times in Mexico and always love it but actually I think this one is our favorite now. Read less

We were at the resort June 26th to July 5th. We stayed in a presidential suite 21131 on the 11th floor. We are diamond members of Palace and had a private transfer. The transfer to the resort was a 23 seater minibus, our return was an 18 seater minibus. We got off the aircraft at 10:10. We got into the immigration line at 10:20 we were one of the 1st off our aircraft but another family got to security the same time as us. They used club mobay and got through security at 10:50, we got through the security desk at 11.05 only 15mins after. There where a lot more people in our line compared to the club mobay line. Our bags where waiting for us so we headed to the transfer desk (21 far left corner) we where on the transfer 11.20 and arrived the the resort at 1.15, we had Maxwell as our driver who was amazing so give us a lot of information on or drive over. Check in was with Veronica from the Diamond team. She made us feel really welcome. Day 1. Was a lovely day. We just took our time looking around the resort and see where things were located. We had lunch at the Jerk Hut, this was amazing, they have a hot sauce that my husband loved. We had dinner at La Gondola, the food and service was very good. After dinner we did the Wired lounge with the kids for a little fun before bed, the capacity for this for our stay was 10 people, at times there were a lot more in there than 10. Day 2. Up early and off to Boulangerie for a latte, they are open 24hrs and they did some amazing drinks and snacks. We found the Diamond Cabanas and was greeted by Nikki and Odean, who are the two Pool Concierge. They looked after us all week and where amazing, they are so attentive with us and the kids. Nothing was to much for them over our stay, they where so happy to help and amazing with the kids. We went to the Spa and had our Free manicure and pedicure, our daughter (4) was talking about this for weeks before we arrived. She picked my nail polish colours, and the spa ladies were great and welcoming for our family. We spent the day around the beach and pools, the beach was amazing, the ocean was so clear and warm. There is a little seagrass but not a problem. Dinner was at Pier 8 and did not let us down, it was just as good as Mexico the menu is a little different but again very good service and food. Day 3. Up for breakfast at the buffet and out on our tour to Mystic Mountain Jamaica, this was one of the tours using resorts credits at $89 so the out of pocket cost was $14 per person. We only had access to the Sky Explorer and the pool along with the walk. We arrived there at 8:15, got our bands at 8:40 and we left on the first pick up at 11:30. We did pay for the Bobsled Ride, 2 rides $22 - 3 rides $29 or 5 rides $44, there is also a cost for lockers. We took towels for the pool and we spent about an hour at the pool with the kids. Take a look at the hummingbirds, they are amazing, the kids will love them. There is also an amazing view from the pool, you can see the resort and bay. We had dinner at Momo Tappanyaki that evening, it’s such a good show for the kids. The food is nice also and good fun, I found it a lot louder then Sunrise in Mexico but still had a good evening with good food and wine. They did a good Happy Birthday for my husband, and gave him a nice little cake. We dropped the kids at the Kids Club for an hour and we popped to the Piano bar (Adults Only) for a cocktail, there was no piano show as this starts at 10pm. We had an amazing cocktail Salted Caramel Martini, this was by far the best cocktail I have had. Day 4. Up early (again) and off to the beach and pools after breakfast, we had our Free 25Min Back Massage today, we arrived at the Spa a little late as our appointment was at 2pm and the kids club was closed between 1:00 and 2:00. We went straight in for our massage, again this was amazing and so relaxing. After our treatment we did the Water Journey, we could not go to the Sauna or Ice Room as they were closed due to the COVID restorations but we did the pool, Cold plunge pool and hottub. We had a relax with the kids after the Spa at the pools, then got ready for dinner at Pier 8. The food and drinks where amazing, it’s an outside restaurant so was a good view of the sunset. After dinner we went to see one of the shows, it was good fun and we all loved it. Day 5. We had a nice walk around the resort in the morning before breakfast and then got ready for Dunns River. We got the bus over to the falls, this was an out of pocket tour $65 per adult $55 per child. We got picked up at 10:30 from the hotel and back by 1pm, we all loved the tour and had so much fun. We got the video of our walk up the falls, it was $40 and so nice to watch. After we got back to the resort we stopped off at the activity pool, there was a lot going on around the pool. We didn't stay long as there were a number of very drunk people in the pool, the security team asked some of them to leave the pool. We had dinner at Momo and asked the server to pick our dinner for us, she did an amazing job for us and the food was outstanding. We do this a few times as we get to taste things we may not pick. We went to the Michael Jackson show after dinner as it would not be a trip to Palace with out the MJ Show. It was a good a very good show I think it was better than the one at the Grand. Day 6. Some time at the beach on our Diamond Cabana and pool, we had the Rum tasting so we dropped the kids at the club for this. It was nice to do and find out more about Rum in Jamaica, the sommelier was very good. After this it was back to the room to get ready for our Diamond Members dinner on the beach. We had an amazing dinner, one of the best dinners at the resort. The Sunset view, services and food was outstanding Day 7. Fun day around the resort, lots of beach and pools with the kids, we did the kayaks and pedal boat bike. We also stopped at the kids splash zone and slide at the pool and more pool time again. Dinner was at Momo again and we had an excellent dinner. The scallops and butter chicken was amazing. We had a little too much of them but enjoyed each bite. Day 8. Birthday day for the Hubby.. Nice little birthday cake in the room then off to Konoko Falls, this is a Resort Credits tour at $80 per person $12.80 each out of pocket. We had the bus over from the resort, we walked to the base of the falls and then had a guided tour up the falls. This was different then Dunn's but was so good to do both of them. We also got to walk the gardens and see the birds. Back at the resort Nikki and Odean has a little birthday surprise with the Diamond Cabana, birthday balloons and champagne. It was a quick sushi lunch at the beach, then I sent my husband off to the Spa for his 80 Min Sacred hot stone message this was a resort credits option $286 this is $45 out of pocket. It was a back to the room to get ready for the birthday dinner at La Gondola, again this was an outstanding dinner with an amazing service ?? I ordered some 5 Birthday Cake Balls for $40 and they where amazing, the staff sung happy birthday. We dropped the kids of the club for an hour. We stopped off at the piano bar for the amazing Salted Caramel Martini. Picked the kids up and back to the room. Day 9. Was our breakfast at the buffet and then off to have our COVID test to return home. We got taken over to the place where they were doing the tests. It was a little busy and took around 30 Mins from arriving. It was done on one of the closed floors, the test itself quick and the results where given to us before leaving the room. They give us all the paper work showing the results then. It was July 4th, there was a lot going on around the resort due to the rain lost of people were inside. We went to the pool for a little while with the kids and did some pool games. We had an early dinner at Momo and went to the July 4th show, it was a lot of fun. Day 10. This was the sad day as it was time to leave, we popped into town to have a quick look around. We got back to the resort in time to have our bags picked up, we got taken to the diamond checkout and then to our transfer back to the airport. Over all we had an amazing time, we spent a lot of or Resort Credits on tours and Spa treatments. We could have done more but wanted to relax and take it easy. The staff where amazing, some where a little slower then others but that’s fine for us. Non of the Swim up bars where open but there were a lot of staff around taking food and drinks orders. The Buffet was served to us, this was fine but I felt they give a lot more then I would serve myself. Our son found it had to get served at the buffet a few times, this was when he went up on his own. Would we go back YES, maybe only for 7 nights. This is only due to the options they have to eat dinner, we loved the place and staff but also like a few more options to eat in the evening. As you can see we repeated all the places, but didn’t eat the same food twice. Thank you to Nikki, Odean, Veronica & Ronick the Diamond team. Thank you to the playroom staff Shawna-Lee, Shellion, Jermaaine, Donna & Setirah Nice to know There are lots of beds around the pools and on the beach, there are around 10 diamond & Residence beds at the pool, 8 diamond & Residence beds at the beach. Then there are 4 VIP, Concierge, Diamond & Residence beds on the beach. Take towels when you have a tour, along with some tip money and a card. Ask the staff to pick your dinner for you, get to try things you would not normally eat Thanks for taking the time to go over my review, I hope that you find it helpful. #DiamondLife #DiamondUKUSA Read less
