Moon Palace Jamaica

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

The hotel

Occupying centre stage on the largest private beach in Ocho Rios, the Moon Palace Jamaica promises as many sensational sea views as classic Palace Resort touches which is why this is one of the hottest properties in the Caribbean. Consisting of 705 guest rooms, contained within two shimmering towers, you'll be totally spoiled for choice and with four restaurants and six bars to choose from, you certainly won't be left wanting when it comes to a warm welcome. World-class dining options and a tempting gourmet corridor provide a taste of things to come with the excellent Piano Bar offering a world of wine which has been expertly critiqued for your own deliberation. As most guest rooms have fabulous ocean views, fully stocked mini-bars and 24-hour room service, you may prefer to relax in private however, as Family Rooms come with two interconnecting doors you'll be advised to grab the moment while it lasts. Of course, that's not where the fun stops for kids as from their very own pool and FlowRider wave simulator to an organised club and wired teens' lounge, there's plenty of family options to keep your brood happy and active all day long. With four other swimming pools, excellent spa facilities and loads of daily activities, there's never a dull moment and with the stunning Dunn's River Falls just 15-minutes away, getting out and experiencing the very best of Jamaica doesn't get any better than this.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Beautiful but food isn’t for everyone

The hotel is very nice and clean and relaxing. The room was nice. The drinks were good and the beach is nice. I gave it a 4 star because of the food options. This is not ideal if you’re vegan and gluten free. Also if you prefer a cooking style with less spices that cater to the standard American pallet; then the food is fine but if not than you… Read more

The resort is beautiful and perfect for a coronavius era vacation as long as you are happy staying at the resort in the pool or beach waters. The resort is very clean and many protections in place for covid safety. HOWEVER, the advertised resort credit has very limited use at this time. Almost everything is closed. In addition, despite what is stated in its brochure, when you get to the property you learn that deep tissue massages and other popular requests are excluded from the spa, you can only use certain resort credits if you go through a sales pitch for a vacation club (timeshare) membership, almost all activities are closed (even if represented differently the day you call). No scuba, dolphins, falls, tours, sightseeing. The worst part is that ALL arriving passengers from ALL countries must be subjected to a very painful covid nasal test. You are never given your results, by the way. Don't bother booking golf or other activities around the island as they are closed. Today is July 2 and everything is still closed. Read less

My family and I had an incredible week at Moon Palace Jamaica. With COVID, the staff ensured all the proper procedures that always made me feel safe: hand sanitizer at every entrance, phone wipes, social distancing guidelines, etc. Everything about my trip was unforgettable, but I want to give a special shoutout to the staff at Boulangerie: Roshin, Tajay, Chairme, Stacy, Roesoeno, Clement, and Oshain! They are the friendliest, most welcoming people at Moon Palace who will make you the best coffee at any hour of the day. I always looked forward to stopping by, and they without fail always made my day better! Read less

We loved our trip in January. While everyone back home was cold, we were warm and relaxed. Niki our pool concierge was always on point along with Veronica and LuLu. Already planning another trip in October. Covid who? Palace Resort is all ready with their pure clean procedure. See ya there!!

Food: Very accommodating to all food allergies. Celiac? Don't worry, I had a 4 course asian meal cooked for me. The chefs have come and talked to me at every restaurant, but major shout out to the chef at MOMO. This man is an incredible chef and takes pride in his work, and it shows. Big thank you! Melissa at concierge is the epitome of the Jamaican people. She was so helpful and willing to go above and beyond to ensure I was accommodated (celiac means limitations with food), that she was helping me on her day off and didn't even mention it. Gym: Massive. I don't care too much about cardio, as I am more concerned with lifting. This gym has all of the essentials. Beach/view: Torn. The view is crazy beautiful. The beach itself is not the greatest. Tons of algae, like it was all over my legs. The ocean was quite rocky as well. Staff: insanely friendly room: beautiful with no usual mold smell from being a tropical place with an ac running room service: usually 30 mins wait. Delicious but more options in the menu that ends at 10:30 pm Specific people: Melissa (concierge) literally made my time here excellent and gave me the opportunity to gain 10 pounds haha. She never made me feel like I was asking too much or bothering her. She even helped me on her day off (I was informed by another staff she was on a day off) Wynset: At the buffet: dude is the chillest person you'll ever encounter. He was so sweet and we thoroughly enjoyed our morning and afternoon chats with him. He also gave me a new way to enjoy my coffee. Coffee shop people. OMG these people go above and beyond. They literally draw little designs in your coffee. They pay such attention to detail, they were organizing our coffee as we were walking up. Much love guys! Jermaine: Talked to him once and enjoyed his personality so much (that memorable) that I am talking about him. Please read the bottom part if trying to take advantage of the extension/buy one room get other room free: THE ONLY disappointment I had with this company was not the hotel but reservations itself. We pre called and spent $10 on calls to Jamaica twice to ensure our booking was correct. We booked 3 nights and intended to reserve the extra free 3 nights for our other part of our vacations (total of 6 nights). When we checked in, we confirmed and they told us we could in fact do that. This however was not that case. Then we go down to discuss with front desk and they don't know how to handle this situation either because again the issue was with reservations. We ended up having to book 3 more nights << which is fine. However instead of them combining the reservation, they didn't. What does this mean? They wouldn't allow us to use the 5 night or more free shuttle (so we spent $220 on a private shuttle), we couldn't get the $1500 reservation credit and instead got two $500 credits, but could only use one???? This limited the amount you could spend in the spa, which was trash. My point of anger is that within my receipt for both 3 night purchases, it says "get a second room free OR EXTEND YOUR STAY." I felt like this was subtle false advertisement and I was pissed about the accommodations. Read less
