Moon Palace Jamaica

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

The hotel

Occupying centre stage on the largest private beach in Ocho Rios, the Moon Palace Jamaica promises as many sensational sea views as classic Palace Resort touches which is why this is one of the hottest properties in the Caribbean. Consisting of 705 guest rooms, contained within two shimmering towers, you'll be totally spoiled for choice and with four restaurants and six bars to choose from, you certainly won't be left wanting when it comes to a warm welcome. World-class dining options and a tempting gourmet corridor provide a taste of things to come with the excellent Piano Bar offering a world of wine which has been expertly critiqued for your own deliberation. As most guest rooms have fabulous ocean views, fully stocked mini-bars and 24-hour room service, you may prefer to relax in private however, as Family Rooms come with two interconnecting doors you'll be advised to grab the moment while it lasts. Of course, that's not where the fun stops for kids as from their very own pool and FlowRider wave simulator to an organised club and wired teens' lounge, there's plenty of family options to keep your brood happy and active all day long. With four other swimming pools, excellent spa facilities and loads of daily activities, there's never a dull moment and with the stunning Dunn's River Falls just 15-minutes away, getting out and experiencing the very best of Jamaica doesn't get any better than this.

This is by far the worst experience I have had at a hotel in Jamaica!! The check in process was slow and draining!! I checked in after 1 pm and when I did I waited until after 3 to get my room (understandably because check in is at 3pm) When we got to the room there was one king bed instead of the 2 double beds which I had requested! I called the front desk and was told I would be checked into a different room shortly BY 3 DIFFERENT PERSONS IN THE SPACE OF 3 HOUR!! THE MANAGER IN CHARGE HAD NO REGARDS FOR THE FACT THAT I EXPRESSED IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY THE FOLLOWING DAY AND NO ONE COULD TELL ME HOW THEY COULD MAKE MY EXPERIENCE A BETTER ONE. HE SHOWED ABSOLUTELY NO EMPATHY. Everyone was so complacent. AND I ONLY RECEIVED A LITTLE EMPATHY FROM THE PR personnel. Every one kept telling me what they CANT do and no one was trying to fix it! It did not get settled in a room Until after 7pm. I was offered balloons and a cheap bottle of sparkling wine for all the inconveniences as if I'm a 16 y.o. this is not good customer service. We were even told we cannot be offered certain concessions because of the room category! Like come on you just had me waiting over 3 hours to settle in a room! Make the experience better for me. Does it not matter to the management how your guests feel leaving here!?? Or do you just care about your guests who have booked a "higher category". I really wish I had read these reviews because it would've saved me some cash. Read less

This was our first stay at Moon Palace. Upon arrival we would have liked to have received some information, as we were not told what was included, how to order room service or mini bar, what time restaurants, pools, water sports and activities were open, how/who to ask about gluten allergies (coeliac disease). When we did enquire we were sent from person to person and often not given a clear answer. For example, numerous restaurants and room service told us there was nothing we could eat whatsoever, yet other staff were entirely unaware of what we could or couldn’t eat. As a result, we were given food containing gluten. We eventually got in contact with one chef Oral who ensured us we could get a gluten free meal at his restaurant which was excellent however the issue wasn’t solved across the hotel and I was still left unsure as to where to go for reliable snacks etc. We were given conflicting information as to whether the sail boat and snorkelling were included or not, and staff wanted to charge us despite it being advertised as free. There was no minibar provided in our room, and when we asked to get it filled they told us we could only get soft drinks, no snacks or alcoholic drinks. Initially the smart TV in our room did not have Chromecast installed, despite it being advertised when we booked. The front desk and other hotel staff told us that it was not available, however eventually, after enquiring online, Steven from IT installed it for us in our room and resolved our issue. We were disappointed that there was not an adult-only pool, despite it being stated on the website. There were children unsupervised by their parents in all pools and all areas and restaurants, we had water thrown at us whilst at dinner, trash thrown on my plate at breakfast by unsupervised children, and maskless children crawling and rolling on the floor around the hotel. The Covid protocol at the hotel was good. We felt safe seeing that all staff wore masks and most guests wore their masks inside. All guests had to sanitise hands and phones when entering restaurants and the food and drinks were served in a safe way. Luckily as the hotel wasn’t fully booked we were able to keep a large distance on sunbeds, restaurants and in the pool. The on-site covid testing at the hotel was very efficient and well organised. I had hoped to get a surprise / celebration for my sisters birthday which was during our stay. However they were out of stock of balloons, and had no gluten free cakes or any food they could provide us, and told us we needed to pay extra if we wanted anything. Several staff members put in the extra effort and made our trip memorable. The daytime entertainment on the pool deck was fun and Akeem especially was very friendly and funny, always getting guests involved in games and playing great music along with the other DJs and dancers. Johnoy did great activities, including aqua aerobics, yoga, power walking and abs class and was very kind and friendly. Marco provided excellent service at the pool bar and was incredibly attentive and friendly, and Oshane made us great cocktails and remembered our drinks orders every day. Crystal was really friendly to us everyday and always checked how we were doing as we got our towels. Menece was always busy tidying the pool area and was very polite and talkative to us. Horace was really friendly at the lifeguard stand and was always alert and ensuring everyone’s safety, he was helpful as we were learning how to swim. Read less

Stayed with my fiancé in October and I was very impressed with every aspect of the hotel from the choice of food to the amenities to the level of service. A big shout out to Shaun who was our poolside server- he was just amazing and really encapsulated the great service that we received throughout our stay. Credit to the hotel.

I visited the moon palace Jamaica after having such a fantastic experience at the moon palace cancun. My husband and I were very fortunate to come across some fabulous staff of whom I wish to mention because their service and attention to detail was excellent! Firstly, Tamara in the lobby bar - she was helpful and always smiling! Great waitress who remembered our favourite drinks! Another staff member from the lobby was Reneika - she also served us in the piano bar and was lovely! Also Whitney, she was lovely too! Next..on to the best mixologist we have ever experienced - Frainz! He was funny, attentive and always smiling! I also met Rene in the load bar and the piano bar - she was helpful and great to speak to! For the pool staff I have to mention our lovely Riccardo and Lorraine! In the main buffet we had a lovely lad called Tushane that was polite and again attentive to our needs! Ensuring our drinks were ready and our sauce was on the table before we even needed to ask! Thank you to the moon palace team at Jamaica for a lovely stay! There were 28 of us and we will all be returning! Read less
