The hotel

Occupying centre stage on the largest private beach in Ocho Rios, the Moon Palace Jamaica promises as many sensational sea views as classic Palace Resort touches which is why this is one of the hottest properties in the Caribbean. Consisting of 680 guest rooms, contained within two shimmering towers, you'll be totally spoiled for choice and with six restaurants and six bars to choose from, you certainly won't be left wanting when it comes to a warm welcome. World-class dining options and a tempting gourmet corridor provide a taste of things to come with the excellent Piano Bar offering a world of wine which has been expertly critiqued for your own deliberation. As most guest rooms have fabulous ocean views, fully stocked mini-bars and 24-hour room service, you may prefer to relax in private. Of course, that's not where the fun stops and if you're travelling with kids, they'll be itching to get out of the room to their own pool, or grab a console in the wired teens' lounge - there's plenty of family options to keep your brood happy and active all day long. With four other swimming pools, excellent spa facilities and loads of daily activities, there's never a dull moment and with the stunning Dunn's River Falls just 15-minutes away, getting out and experiencing the very best of Jamaica doesn't get any better than this.

We recently went to Moon Palace Jamaica for our Spring Break 2024 and had an AMAZING time. This was our first time to MPJ but not to Jamaica...so were were eager to enjoy the relaxing vibes of the island. We also are Moon Palace members and wanted to see what was available outside of Mexico/Cancun. MPJ is an amazing resort and we loved every min of it. Transportation: It's about 2 hrs drive from Montego Bay Airport. Not a bad ride but it's long. Check in: Patrice was our check-in specialist and she was amazing! We upgraded to a bigger suite based on our needs (2 adults + 2 teen/tween). She was super helpful!! Also, wanted to give a special shout out to Sheree (the only female bell hop). She gave us great service during the check in and check out! Showed us our suite and the upgraded suite for us to make the best decision at the start of our trip Food: The Italian restaurant was our favorite for dinner. Although my son LOVE the buffet restaurant. We had great service at each place. The Beef Stew and rice and peas was a lunch favorite. My last night there I had a special Bob Marley shrimp pasta made from the pasta station with so flavorful and wish I had known about it earlier. My son has a nut and shellfish allergy and was able to eat anywhere with out any issues of cross-contamination. This is a huge relief when traveling overseas. ROOMS: Beds are super comfortable. Great view of the Cove. The room are smaller than the Moon Palace Grand AMENITIES: The resort is smaller than Cancun but still has a relexing and vacation vibe. Several pools, small beach area, Surfboard station, water sports (loved kayaking, and the banana boat race). My kids loved the arcade - it was the hang out spot each day. The Gym was my favorite Johnoy is great with keeping gym ready and also during the water areobics during the noon time. SPA: Bridget was my masseuse and she was FABULOUS. I had a facial/scrub/massage combo and it was the perfect mid-vacation break. All in all ....we love every second of our stay. We would totally come back again for more fun in the sun! Special shotout to the entire entertaining crew!! Christopher was great with the music trivia at the pool. The night time shows were wonderful! Read less

We stayed at the Moon Palace Jamaica at the end of December 23 for 15 nights in a Cabana Room. Our room was lovely, on the ground floor with a hammock on our balcony over looking the beach and sea. The only downside to this room is that we had two double beds. Based on the price we paid and the luxury of the hotel you would expect to have at least king size beds. After 15 nights, 2 adults in a double bed was a struggle and I think they should invest in some more luxurious beds. Mini bar was stocked daily, room cleaned daily and fresh towels. The cleaners were lovely and so were the turn down staff. We sat round the pools and on the beach, and always said hello to the friendly staff around the resort who couldn’t do enough for you. Big shout out to Lorraine, she really is a star and a pleasure to be around. Credit to this hotel. Surf rider was a hit with the children, we could sit watching them having a drink and a slice of wood fired pizza, perfect. We have been to many hotels around the world and the food here was amazing. I’m n fact the deserts from the buffet restaurant was something else, unreal! Thank you for a fab holiday. We will be back. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating It was a nice stay because it was Jamaica, but the resort didn't meet an upscale standard.

The check in and the wrist bands that opened the rooms was a great feature. The 24-hour Bougalerie cafe was great and the chocolates were great. Need to maybe have gelato also with the ice cream. The bed was very comfortable. The beach was nice and calm sea and soft sand. Location was nice to walk to downtown Ocho Rios. The sign for the resort should be a little bigger and more closer to the road. Disliked · The lobby was nice and the check in was fairly good. I believe the gentleman's name was Conroy or Conrad and he was pleasant. The elevator wait was a little too long and the hallway to the room felt old and very hotelly. The room was nice but very small and view ok but not great as we also saw the alley nearby which wasn't very attractive. The balcony was a very small and could hardly move on it. the food in the buffet was not great as not enough options and not enough Jamaican choices daily. The curry goat was the best thing and big up to the chef on that. The stations weren't well manned. Having to be seated in the buffet, not a fan, but it's your thing. The layout of the hotel (not resort) is too choppy and can be confusing. entertainment sucked. beach was okay as the water was calm and sand was soft, didn't the separation of the elite verses regular hoteliers. Really the hotel, Auntie Melicia at the play room was very warm and welcoming . She made my kids feel so loved and she was so helpful. Only think we hated was that the rooms were way tooooo smalllllllll. But the staff were amazing. Definitely will be bk , hopefully the rooms are much bigger.
