Long post so apologies but thoughts on SDR… if you don’t want to read I’ll summarise, it was outstanding! Right, as we sit in the Club Sandals lounge waiting for our transfer in about 30 minutes, I thought I’d offer some thoughts on our stay at Sandals Dunn’s River. For context, we’ve never had a bad Sandals stay - a few bumps here and there but always rectified swiftly - but what can I say about Sandals Dunn’s River… I think I may have a problem with Sandals now. It was so good here it might have ruined all the others for us 😆😆😆. Everything was such an incredibly high standard. Our room was sensational, big, fantastically decorated with a wonderful swim up and plunge pool. Probably the most exquisite room we’ve had, overtaking the OS1B we were upgraded to in SRB and the LV in SGA! The beds have always been amazing at Sandals, but the one here was out of this world… if anyone knows if you can buy them please let me know I’d love to order that mattress!!!!!!! Food was incredible, especially the sushi in Hanami, the snapper ceviche in Zuka and the pork belly buns in Banyu. I’d happily have paid a fair whack for the meals in those restaurants. Breakfast, the avocado toast, I’m not usually the biggest fan of avo toast, but here it was exceptional and I’m going to try and replicate it at home! Also, if you come here, get yourself to Blum every day, the coffee is amazing! The resort at whole is beautiful, they’ve clearly taken a lot of care and attention with the design and landscaping, from the pools, to the gardens & water features, it’s a breathtakingly gorgeous resort. The beach is a little small but it’s lovely and, while we’ve been here, the water has been gorgeous. So picturesque! Service was exceptional as well. Everyone around the resort made recommendations of what to do and what to try, pretty much faultless. Our butlers Dexter and Ricardo delivered the best service we’ve had to date. We’ve had some sub par butlers and some who’ve been excellent but these two were a level above. Organised everything we needed and went well above and beyond with things we didn’t ask for! We’re off to Grenada in May and Royal Barbados in September next year, but can’t imagine anything topping this (we’ve been to SBR before and love it there but it’s not quite as good as here). The word for this trip is outstanding, I used it over and over again and it will live long in our memories! If you get the opportunity please book this wonderful resort. We’ll be back! Read less

Beautiful resort! Our 20th stay with Sandals, and 7th time to Jamaica! The people that are a part of this resort are amazing! To name a few: Patrick is the best butler! Kobie is also an amazing butler. Shannice at the Rum Bar is a star! She should also be a butler. Shernice at Blum coffee was so nice, and after just a few days there she would see us coming, and already be working on our order before we even walked through the door!!!! Fantastic customer service!!!! We did a fabulous garden tour with Adrian! He set us up with breadfruit, and introduced us to Gregory at the Jerk Shack, to fry up our breadfruit for lunch. Little did we know that Gregory would then share his Jerk chicken recipe with us, and fry the breadfruit! What a treat! At Zuka: Santana, thank you for making our 1st night's dinner special. At Banyu: Dwayne Cieddes was an awesome waiter! At the Rum Club: Denzil, and Ackeem Small. But, seriously all the staff is amazing, and kind! Read less

Great hotel, welcoming staff, good restaurants, good room. Enjoyed our brief stay. the recently renovated hotel is top notch. With many dining choices, well landscaped ample grounds. lovely swimming pools and great all inclusive service. A great choice for an all inclusive stay in Jamaica. All for one fee.

This was our fifth Sandals resort. Dunn’s is one of the best. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Our room was on the fourth floor of the Travertine building overlooking the pools. The room is well designed and the bed was comfortable. Always had timely turn down service and fresh towels whenever needed. The fridge was restocked daily. For the most part, the restaurants were very good. It’s hard to say which was the best, but a tie would go to Hanami and Cascata. Saltaire was great for the buffet breakfast and lunch. Jerk Shack was very good, best jerk chicken so far at any Sandals resort. The Rum Bar was awesome. Shout out to LaTona at the Rum Bar. She explained the rums and made suggestions for drinks as well. Nice experience. Disappointed with Galene, however. Slow service every time with limited guests. Banyu had a nice atmosphere, but the food was plain and not very appealing. Pools and the swim-up bar were nice and clean. Had to get up early to reserve loungers at the swim-up bar pool, though. The butlers would have more than half reserved and most times the people would show up after lunch or not at all. Great bartenders at the swim-up bar! The resort is on the smaller side, but not too small. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Overall, we’ll visit again. Read less

Best of Sandals!

It is so hard to believe we have been back for three weeks, but out of our 10 Sandals stays, this resort has risen to the TOP! It is so difficult to find any fault at all and we had such an amazing time for our 30th anniversary. Plus, it was our first free Sandals week, so that was spectacular. If you are looking for exceptional, Butlers, you MUST request Patrick and Kobie! Of all the butlers we have ever had, they are two of the best! They communicated so well between each other and added so many special and romantic touches to make our stay spectacular! Nothing was too difficult for them and we didn’t have to lift a finger (although we are very self-sufficient)!More than that, though, they became dear friends and we can’t wait to see them again in the future! You will be so happy to have these two as your butlers! Here is a long list of Pros and a couple minor Cons: Pros: 1. Gorgeous, new resort! 2. Lush foliage 3. SUPER clean! Everyday, there were SO MANY workers cleaning and tending to general upkeep. 4. DELICIOUS food! Our favorites were the braised beef rigatoni at the Italian, lamb at the French, and Feijoada at Zuka (Latin) restaurant. 5. Loved the live music every morning around the pool! 6. BEST SPOT is the “laughing waters lounge” above the pool bar. Shaded umbrellas and lovely breeze! 7. MANY craft-type activities so you can bring home reminders of your stay. We did pottery, painting, and candle-making…all fun! 8. We met the NICEST couples on this stay…friends for life! 9. Blum is out of this world! Best coffee shop, and we loved the banana bread and almond croissant as well! 10. Beautiful and calm ocean! We loved the beach area and the water temperature of the ocean and all pools were perfect!! 11. Spa was FANTASTIC! You can use the steam room and pool/plunge pools anytime! We went almost daily and had the pool to ourselves most times! 12. Nightly activities were great and quite a variety! Plus the Rum Club was as lively! 13. We had the B1B- Mammee Bay Beachfront Butler suite, top floor…spectacular view!! Cons: 1. 1.5 hours from Mobay airport, although you you can fly into the other airport, which is closer, however, it was expensive and did not have good options for connecting flight flights for us. 2. The DJ hut in between both pools did not leave any area with a quieter pool, however, we did use the spa pool as mentioned above. Afternoons tended to get a bit loud. JUST GO!!!!
