I have been to many resorts in Mexico and this was by far my favorite! The rooms are beautiful and the grounds are gorgeous. Upon arrival we were greeted with so many smiling faces that you can't help but get excited about your stay. The concierge and check in staff were so welcoming and helpful. The bellboy, Luis was awesome and so accommodating. Our room was stunning and the amenities in the room were plentiful and top notch. The food and restaurants were sensational, every night for dinner we thought that we had just had the most amazing meal but each and every night as we tried the different restaurants we were more and more impressed. It was hard to choose between the French, Italian, Mexican, and Asian restaurants as to which one was our favorite. The manager of the French and Italian restaurants, Antonio, was so attentive to our needs as I am on a gluten free diet and they accommodated me in every way to ensure I didn't feel as if I was missing out on anything. We ordered some upgraded wines some nights but others we had the house wine which was also very good. Every morning we ate at the Rosewater restaurant and the manager there, Arturo, made sure our waiter was aware of my diet restrictions and that I had plenty of gluten free choices. At the pool, the concierge, Victor, greeted us every day and anything we needed, he ensured we were taken care of immediately. The entertainment at the pool was fantastic as Miguel kept everyone entertained. Never in all the resorts I had been to had anyone ever gotten everyone involved with the activities. Miguel made sure everyone was involved and had a great time. He has a magnetic personality and is a pleasure to be around. The pool was clean and there were plenty of chairs and towels available. The Secrets pool is low key but if you want more activities at the pool, you can go over to the Breathless side and go to the activity pool in the middle and the party pool on the other side where there is a DJ daily. At the Preferred Club, Luis was the bartender and he was fantastic. If there was a drink you wanted and he didn't have the ingredients, he would run to either the cafe or Rosewater to get it. He was very attentive and the alcohol was top shelf. They had plenty of Belvedere Vodka, Kettle One Vodka, Don Julio tequila, as well as others (that we don't drink). The beach was great, the resort is working very hard to keep the Sargasso (seaweed) off the beach. They have installed boom along the whole length of the resort to keep it off the shore. The evening entertainment was great and a lot of fun. Every night is a different show. We had fun at the neon party (make sure you bring clothes for that). Unfortunately, due to COVID protocols the activities are kept to outside events and had to close at 11 or 12pm but they did a great job of keeping us entertained. The COVID protocols are fantastic. I did not at all feel nervous about being at risk nor did I feel as if we were missing out on anything. Our COVID test to return to the US was easy and took no time at all, we had our results within an hour. We had visited this resort in April and you can see since that visit, the resort is making great strides and you can see many improvements, it just keeps getting better. I highly recommend this resort, you will not be disappointed. We can't wait to go back, it was an awesome vacation. Read less

Secrets resorts have always treated my husband and I very well. Each one has its own special touch, it’s own special people. The resorts are beautiful but it’s the service that is extraordinary. At Secrets Riviera Cancun, there were several people that made our trip extra special. Victor with pool services was always friendly, happy and very accommodating. Cruz waited on us more than the others and provided excellent service. However, out of all the UVC resorts we have ever been to, Miguel has been our very favorite. Miguel is one of those people that makes you feel like you are the most special guest there. He is extremely talented, entertaining and an incredible human. Miguel is someone you hate to leave and hope you stay in contact with for life; he’s the kind of person guests return to see. Thank you Miguel for making our vacation extra special. Read less

My wife and I stayed at Secrets Riviera Cancun at the end of July 2021 with another couple who are close friends. My wife and I had both done the resort thing in the past… we can’t remember the names of those resorts, which tells you how well those trips went. We became more roadtrip-oriented vacationers, never staying more than 1 night in the same place, and like to plan everything ourselves. Needless to say, we were trepidatious about going back to a resort. Happily, we had no reason to worry. This place is on another level. We had a much more relaxing vacation than is typical for us, along with plenty of activities so we did not get bored. Being at a resort made it a much easier couples trip, as well. The staff at Secrets, Breathless, and the Relax Spa are what made the stay as special as it was. We felt like the red carpet was rolled out for us the entire stay. The first people we want to shout out are Omar the manager, and Esteban at Breathless. We had our original booking at xhale which used to be the quiet area of the Breathless property with a private pool and restaurant to which regular Breathless guests would not have access. We’re in our mid 30s now so this is more the vibe we were after since Breathless is generally a party resort. Upon checking into our xhale room we were a bit shocked by how loud the DJ’s music was through the walls of our room. We were expecting a quiet room, so we knew something was wrong. We called down to the xhale desk and ended up going down to speak with Omar and Esteban in person who offered to move both us and our friends over to Secrets (the original xhale area) the very next day. It seems old xhale bookings are not automatically transferred to the newly branded Secrets, so we were thankful Omar and Esteban made that happen for us. It was an entirely new experience. It was whisper quiet, serene, and peaceful at the pool and at the room. Everything went perfectly the rest of our stay. We made the acquaintance of the muy guapo cantinero Luis at the Secrets Preferred Club Lounge, who mixed our favorite drinks of the whole trip. Ask for his espresso martini made with Licor 43, we all loved them. He also has a jalapeño-infused blanco tequila that makes a killer margarita. Rosewater, the exclusive Secrets restaurant, was also flawless. Manuel, Julio, Sergio, and Pablo were all incredibly attentive. A special shout out to Jose who, despite wearing a mask, you could always tell had a huge smile. We always had a fun meal when he was around. There was one particularly memorable evening at Rosewater that featured a set, coursed-out menu starting with a gazpacho, then a manchego charcuterie, a filet or salmon course, and finally a dulce de leche iced cream served over a lemon tart. We ordered each protein and shared them. Everything was perfectly done. I could have eaten two of the deserts. The chef came out to greet us, and that was a classy move. What set it all over the top, though, was the 7 piece flamenco band that played for the duration of our meal, complete with a flamenco dancer. I also have to recommend going to see Julio or one of the other wonderful Amstar reps to book a tour of the Cinotes. I’ve done day excursions in the past, and they’re always a good time, informative, and adventurous. But the Cinotes tour exceeded any I’ve done in Central America. It’s a perfect blend of thrill, relaxation, and education. Luis was the name of our guide/driver and he was awesome (some say he’s a retired rally driver), and Mikey is the talented photographer. We seldom buy tourist photos, but we bought his without hesitation. On our last day before checkout, we did the hydrotherapy circuit for an hour at the Relax spa, followed by massages. It was the best deep-tissue massage I’ve ever had. I regret not committing my therapist’s name to memory, but my wife and friends had the same thing to say about their Swedish massage, so it seems you can’t go wrong. 10/10 would go back to any Secrets property. The resort is incredibly clean and well keep. All of the staff were so nice and helpful. Shout out to Victor and Eduardo at Rosewater who made our stay so special. Shoutout to Luis at the activity pool who became fast friends with the kids and sought them out to participate in volleyball, basketball and karaoke. The Secrets Concierge was so helpful in making sure we had a great stay and everything prepared to leave with all the extra covid travel requirements. I recommend the Beach Dining for two, it was a romantic experience I won't forgot. The food at the resort was amazing! Every meal was delicious, we particularly loved breakfast at Rosewater. The Hibachi table at Silk City was a fun experience. Note: You need to make reservations for the Hibachi table no earlier than 3:30 PM at the desk next to the Wink Bar. This resort had something for everyone, we will definitely return. Read less
