My partner and I were at Secrets The Vine in mid-July. We had a such a great time! Service: Overall, the service was very good! From the reception to the concierge to the valet service to the restaurants- -- almost every single worker at this resort treated us very well, with the exception of Darnel (he seemed very grumpy at the Preferred Club Lounge). Antonio went out of his way to ensure that we had a good time - especially with regards to the Romantic Dinner and optional additions. Throughout the trip, we were always asked how our day was going, our room was always clean, and the butler service was very responsive. (Thank you so much, Itzayana!) Any request we had was met with prompt service and friendliness. One of the service workers at the bar at the Preferred Club lounge, Enid, gave us great tips about why we should visit Xplor Park. Thanks, Enid! We also highly appreciated the very consistent room service and housekeeping. Facilities: Overall, the facilities were excellent. Because we upgraded to the Preferred Club, our room was spectacular: spacious, modern, and chic - all with a gorgeous view. The pools, chairs, dining areas, and common areas were very well maintained. The gym was also very clean, COVID safe, and pleasant. Our favorite spot was the infinity pool in the Preferred Club area. The only concern we had was with the spa locker that malfunctioned and left us without our belongings for about half an hour while maintenance struggled to open them. (The hotel desperately needs to repair the digital locker system because we were not the only ones who experienced a locker malfunction.) Food: Most of the food items we ordered in the various restaurants were satisfying. Some of the restaurants did, however, fall short of expectations. The breakfast buffet, for example, provided foor that tasted like an ordinary buffet. The steakhouse steaks were subpar (ironically, the Chicken Parmesan entree was the only recommendable thing at the steakhouse). If you're looking for top-notch, flavorful food, the Preferred Club upgrade is worth it. The Preferred Club-only Olio restaurant is superior to all the others. Drinks: For most of the trip, we ordered Don Julio on the rocks. This resort has high quality liquors. If you're looking for premium liquors, there is no discernible difference between a regular room vis-a-vis Preferred Club upgrade. The cocktails were average-tasting, but they got the job done! Entertainment: We were satisfied with the entertainment because we enjoy the laid-back, jazz bar type of vibe. I appreciated how there were various performances nightly, along with the occasional karaoke night at the piano bar. The only strange thing was when the DJs at the piano bar tried to turn it into a trendy night club- it seemed out of place. (This really isn't a Spring Breaker resort) Spa: We loved the free hydrotherapy service included in the Preferred Club upgrade! We would gladly spend the $35-$45 USD otherwise. It includes aromatherapy and a chair massage. We loved it! The facilities and service were of high quality (except for the lockers - see above). At the end of the service, we felt detoxed, relaxed, and rejuvenated. -- Other than that, it was super convenient that they provided a free COVID antigen test towards the end of our trip so that we could come back to the US. We got the results in less than 10 minutes. What would've made this 5 stars? - If the malfunctioning spa locker incident didn't happen. We were told that while maintenance figures out how to open the locker door, we had to wait there and waste our time. This was highly disappointing. Suggestion: Fix your lockers. If not, then deliver your guests' items to their rooms when your maintenance team finally finnagles the locker door open. - If there was an actual difference between the drinks selection between regular room guests and Preferred Club guests (they advertise that there's a difference when there really is not). - If there was no misunderstanding between me and the butlers. When I would send them an SMS text, it appeared blank on their phones but no one ever reached out to me to figure out what was going on until I got mad about my texts being ignored. Then they blamed the connection. Suggestion for future guests: Download WhatsApp. Suggestion for hotel: Make guests download WhatsApp. - If the hotel synchronized their reservation systems with the app. We had to make spa reservations, gym reservations, COVID reservations, and wine tasting reservations. It would elevate the experience if all guest reservations were synched to the app that the hotel encourages guests to download. Read less

Alejandro was the most amazing waiter we encountered on our stay. He went above and beyond each day to make our stay memorable. All of the staff in the enclosed photo were exceptional. I highly recommend

The high rise building takes away the tropical feel. If you’re looking for a fun party resort please don’t book this resort . Although the entertainment staff is friendly and tries really hard, the resort lacks the Cancun party vibe. I’m 41! The resort is boring . Do not I repeat do not waste your money on the preferred club . They will do absolutely nothing for you . It’s a complete waste of money . Horrible service ! Book elsewhere! Read less

Do yourself a favor and upgrade to the Preferred Club if you want a more chill atmosphere. Great entertainment throughout and check out the spa! It was fantastic. The beach is kind of small here, so keep that in mind. If you're a pool person, you'll love it with 3 large pools plus the exclusive pool in Preferred Club. We spent 6 days here and it was one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever had! Highly recommended! Read less
