My wife and my 1.5 year old and 3.5 half year old just returned from 7 days at Dreams. We travel to Mexico about 2-3 times per year and usually stay at Paradisus playa del Carmen but we decided to try a Dreams. I really tried hard to like this hotel but there were multiple problems that kept arising which I will lay out below: We stayed in a 1 bedroom preferred club master suite. My first recommendation is DO NOT pay extra for preferred club, it is NOT worth it. There are no wristbands in this hotel so you can go wherever you want, even into the preferred club areas and nobody checks. You can drink the too shelf liquor even without preferred club. Also, they gave us nothing extra in our room and we got turn down service only 1 night out of the 7 even after asking for it. Other issues we had with the hotel: 1. The lineups for restaurants were bad at times because reservations are not accepted. Be prepared to wait over an hour if you go around 7pm. One of the nights they closed two of the main restaurants , fusion and the Mediterranean leaving awful lines at the Brazilian. (Photo attached). 2. The food at this resort is sub par and the buffet is not good. It is outdated, the chairs are gross and serious lack of variety in food. Also, if you are into desserts you will be disappointed. 3. There were no signs for when and what events were taking place. 4. If you are a coffee drinker and have a Nespresso machine in your room, good luck getting Pods, it is like pulling teeth. My wife and I like a coffee each in the morning and one before dinner and they would only leave us 3 pods. We would call for more, they said they would come with more and never showed up. After asking numerous times we gave up by day 5. If you are planning on bringing young kids under 4, think again. This is not really a family resort. There is no activities for kids under 3 and if you have babies good luck finding milk. We asked for out fridge to be stocked and they said no. We would have to go to the bar at night to get milk or order room service which half the time would not show up. 6. Be very careful walking on the cement paths, they are extremely slippery. My kids slipped numerous times. 7. Our in room ipad for resort info was broken. We asked for another one and they replaced it and it was broken also. The Good: 1. Resort is nice outside. 2. Beach is very nice. 3. Water park is great. 4. Pool bars are great, quick service. Read less

If you like loud drunk Americans that have no respect for anyone else and food that really is quite poor then this is the hotel for you. We came for a family holiday with our baby to celebrate his first birthday. Every night we have been woken by drunk people shouting in the corridor (don’t stay in block 8) where the golf buggy comes back and forth between the two hotels. The reviews on here are correct the food really isn’t good (and I’m not a fussy eater) it is well below the standard of another secrets hotel we’ve stayed at. All in all nice hotel and grounds but I definitely wouldn’t return. Read less

We have been here since Saturday, and leave tomorrow. I wanted to leave my review. The weeks leading up to this trip, we considered switching with all of the horrible reviews. I’m happy we didn’t. The only real complaint I have is all the rain, but no one can control that. Check-in- quick, aside from the lady trying to get us to go to the lunch meeting to get $150 to use. After hours of traveling, no one wants to be bothered about that. We just kept saying , “OK, we will let you know.” Our room- we are in one of the private pool rooms facing the ocean. You really can’t see the ocean, unless you go up to the higher deck. The pool is private for you to swim in, but you can see the people on either side, and they can walk right into your area. Also, the decks/hot tubs on higher level are shared with a neighbor. Preferred club- it is a nice amenity. Breakfast at Maris is nice, although my little one enjoyed the buffet. The lounge is a nice place to pop in to grab a drink/snack. Kids club- my daughter only went for a short period during a rainy day, and asked not to go back. Play area/waterpark- found glass in the water, and reported it. They cleaned it up rather quickly. Equipment gets slippery in the rain. Pools- so many to choose from. They were all very nice. Bars- service was good, but drinks weren’t always consistent. Servers - Antonio and Luis were amazing at the pools. Room service- very accommodating. They call within 5 minutes to confirm and check you order. That is when you can note special requests. My daughter loves cucumbers. They delivered a whole one to me each day so I could peel and slice it for her. Tides- not amazing, not horrible either Maris- breakfast was ok - we ate dinner their twice. Service and food was better the 1st night. Gaucho- we enjoyed the steakhouse and service was great. World Cafe- you can find something you like Note- restaurants may be closed on certain nights. This was disappointing. The grounds— they are very slippery when they are wet, and you are barefoot. Be careful Read less
