Met at reception with glass of sparkling wine/orange juice which was very welcome in the humidity. Very pleasant reception staff. Of course had to have golf buggy to actual accommodation. Pool looked very inviting although everywhere seemed very quiet. First impression of Preferred Club Jnr suite Ocean view entrance left a lot to be desired. Block B - not a very good start sounds more like a prison entrance. Entrance could have being doing with a coat of paint, you could see where repairs had been made in the past, not at all inviting. Room door was a very dark brown which had definitely seen better days. Flaking, different colours again not inviting. Room was large and was adequate, but definitely needing brought up to date with some TLC needed. We had a balcony with a spa bath which we never used as flies, leaves, debris had gathered and no one seemed to clean it out. Our bathroom really was in need of an update. The towels were quite thin and threadbare, certainly not 5-star luxury. The grouting especially in the toilet area, had been repaired so many times, that the grouting practically took over the width of the skirting board. Very discoloured. The large mirror over the sink was showing signs of surface rust across the whole width of the mirror. Although we had a balcony, and could see the sea, we were not lucky enough to catch any sunshine throughout the day always in the shade. The resort facilities were great, especially the number of sunbeds, cabanas around the pool, never had to get up early to put towel down. Service around the pool was excellent, and staff were very helpful and pleasant. To be honest, the staff made the resort. One area I felt could be improved was for me a health and safety issue. The pool was tiled in all the same colour, hence going down steps or coming up there was no line of demarkation of where the steps started.or ended. This was a problem for me as my sight is just not as good as in past year. I creaked my toes many times, and all because I couldnt identify the steps especially when the water was swirling around your legs. AT times I couldnt decide if there were 3steps or 4 - thankfully the hand rail was a help and I took things very slowly. Overall, the hotel provided a good selection of restaurants the food was adequate, even though the portions were small we always managed to fill up with desserts etc., I do think this hotel is in need of a re-fit and some tender loving care. For the 7-days it was enjoyable dont think I could do l4-days.
