The overall experience was tremendous. Just a slight notch below a 5. Food in some of the restaurants was just ok. Breakfast buffet was very good, fresh and a great variety. Our wedding dinner was great.

We first went to Dreams Riviera 12yrs ago for our honeymoon. It was an amazing place, great food, great service all set in a beautiful hotel on a prime spot of Cancun beach front. From then on, Dreams was our go to and we also stayed at their Dom Republic hotel. In November 2023, we treated my siblings and their families to a weeks holiday in Mexico. This time we took 16 of us over from the UK, (11 adults/ 5 children) as we wanted our family to experience Dreams and make some lasting memories too. CHECK IN Arrived 5 hours late due to flight (11.30pm) and received no greeting with bubbly as previously. I booked 2 premium deluxe rooms for my family and my sisters with whirlpools on the balcony but they were given to my brothers families. I did not complain or mention it. INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION No information given about anything other than the world cafe and room service. No map of the hotel as previously given so if we had not been before we would have missed out on a lot. No BA rep. We only found out about entertainment by chance whilst queuing for the world cafe and seeing the tv screen but it changed languages so quickly it was hard to take it all in. TIPPING & SERVICE This is one of the most noticeable change. The staff used to be super attentive and friendly with no expectation of tips. Smiley, charismatic and friendly staff used to make the holiday. We used to tip at the end of the day to those staff that earned it. Now the staff expected tipping every time for the service which becomes costly when you are tipping for 5 families because not everyone could afford it. If you didn’t tip, they didn’t serve you until last and then service with a frown. This was very noticeable in the lobby bar. Also, the old guy in the grill actually rolled his eyes and tutted at us because he didn’t see the tip on the table. Special shout out to Santos at the grill who was amazing and super friendly. Also Alexandro the pool waiter. Service was spot on regardless of tipping and their friendly banter gave our family a glimmer of how it use to be! We spent about 1k dollars in tipping over a week just to get what we had paid for essentially; all inclusive. Tip room service, tip world cafe at breakfast, tip pool staff, tip taxi, tip bar staff. Given we paid over £20k already, that’s extortion. The staff clearly need reminding that people from the UK have to pay hell of a lot more to come to Mexico. ROOM SERVICE They don’t answer the phone half the time so often had to go to reception to order. Our mini bar was only replenished once and that was the day we complained to reception. FACILITIES No notice when restaurants are closed in the evenings due to weddings. Several times we planned to eat at one of the restaurants only to find it closed when we arrived. The world cafe wasn’t great in the evenings either. One evening the grill and world cafe were both closed so we had to wait half hour for the Italian. By then my 7 year old was too tired to eat. We didn’t even know there was a French restaurant or where it was. You couldn’t book any restaurant apart from the Asian which was mandatory. It was my brothers birthday and I wanted to book the grill and ask for us all to be seated together but reception said we couldn’t book and told us to just to turn up when it opened that night. We did as instructed only to find it wasn’t even open that night. ACCOMMODATION Grounds well maintained and we had a view of a ripped out hot tub straight beneath our balcony. Looking a bit shabby in places but overall still lovely. My sisters air con broke and despite reporting it, it wasn’t repaired. It leaked all over their clothes in their wardrobe and woke them up two nights with the most horrendous loud noise which they recorded and I will be reporting this to BA. ENTERTAINMENT Same as 12 years ago. Lounge singers good. Not much for kids. Cinema wasn’t always on due to weddings. Overall, beautiful place but lost its sparkle for us. Read less

Lennry at the beach bar makes the best cocktails and takes good care of you. Very nice resort with great amenities and enough going on to keep 3 normally electronics-bound kids entertained for 5 days. 20 mins south of airport, powder white sand and an abundance of weddings to crash…… will come back.
